Kareem played this playoffs at 39, this was the last season were he was the Lakers leading scorer in regular season and playoffs, the main focus of Lakers offense, this was the last season were you can see him still with some athleticism left, but no longer depended on it, more a positioning, balance, intelligence, outsmarting his younger counterparts, these was the season they lost to Rockets / Hakeem Olajuwon and Ralph Sampson in the 1986 WCF. Kareem still had a solid series at 39, but could not duplicate regular season success against the young Rockets, oh, I still believe if that series could have being extended, maybe the Lakers could have pulled it of, putting the pressure an the young Rockets, but was not to be, but the Lakers did come back with the back to back championships after that year, and Kareem still being a solid role player, no longer the main player, but a solid and very important role player, specially in the 1987 Title against the Celtics. Is great to see how an older player could still compete against players in their prime, showing still how good he was, even when he no longer was in he's peek athletic wise, solid.
