Lakers won game 2, 105-99 to avert a 2 game sweep. In fact the only team of the 78 playoffs, to avert a sweep. In fact, the Lakers have never been swept in a best of 3 miniseries.
Kareem took 24 shots that game, yet only took 2 free throws. When all your buckets are in the interior, you're bound to be fouled more than that. While I don't necessarily see it in the video, I feel like the refs must have missed some calls that would've benefited Kareem. Despite this, Kareem finishing with 24 points, 18 rebounds, 4 assists, and 7 blocks is a incredible stat spread. Thanks for the upload!
kareem didnt make any friends...Read Jeff Pearlmans book Showtime for behind the scenes look at what really went on, what life was like for them/ what they were like during that era...I wont say its changed how I view him as a player, but its made it alot easier to understand why so many people disliked him back then and still do even to this day...I always assumed it was just due to anti muslim stuff without ever bothering to notice that alot of the people who werent fond of him absolutely loved M.Ali. Frankly I think hes got a case as the greatest center/player thats ever played but when you alienate everyone in the media as well as even your own fanbase those who would champion your legacy are left without a voice that can be heard...
Old dinged up wilt held kaj to 41 pct shooting in last games of 72 wcf which just shows how great young Wilt must've been because kaj was best center I ever saw although he was not a great rebounder like wilt or Russell who both blocked a lot of shots too. Old Kareem must've shot 55 pct vs Celtics in the 3 80s finals, Boston fan....Wilt, Russ ,bird and kaj do not take a backseat to Jordan or anyone
Kareem held Wilt to 43% shooting and only 10pg for the entire series. Amazing defensive force Abdul-Jabbar. He was blocking Chamberlain's finger rolls and even some dunks. Wilt was totally intimidated by Jabbar.
Leaving KAJ out of the GOAT debate, as they do today shows how little talking heads know about basketball. He definitely had the greatest career. Competed well against Wilt, though Wilt should have played a little bully ball against him, and an aging Kareem could still hang with Hakeem. I would pick Wilt as the greatest player ever, MJ as second, KAJ third. He is the linchpin, proving that the greats of the 60's and 70's could have played in any era. Some being just as dominant today as they were then. Think of telling Wilt, it's ok to be the biggest and strongest, your not a Goliath freak. Now go out there and tare the rim off the backboard.
Willis reed was super great at bully kareem abdul jabber : wilt had major knee surgery about in 1969 ;; first big man/ low post basketball camp started like 1969 ; they got low post viedos
@lloydkline1518 Kareem out played Reed most of the time by a solid margin. Willis had a terrific team of scorers around him. The Knicks moved that ball so well. They were a balanced squad with great chemistry. Willis had success going outside and forcing Kareem to come out and open the middle up for the rest of the Knicks. One on one it was a mismatch in favor of Jabbar. Reed gets a little overrated but he was a fine player.
