For all of the dudes "bored" by Kareem, youre right, he wasnt flashy, just like Duncan, Russell,etc, but hes one of the best, and its cool some attention gets paid to the legends. A lot of the absolute greats, did their job, helped their teams, and won, without flare, and showmanship. I personally love those guys.

Kareem is one the greatest centers of all time. When I think of kareem I, envision his trade mark sky hook. Kareem shooting skills were extraordinary. He broke the NBA's career scoring record in 1984 and held it until 2023 when it was broken by Lebron James. Kareem along with the great centers of yesterday, Wilt the Stilt and Bill Russel left their footprints on the game of basketball while paving the way for great centers of today.

Kareem isn’t just one of best. He is without a doubt one of the goats. No one is going to “prefer” Kareem to mj but that’s a different topic than who was the best. When we get out of our feelings, no one is definitively greater than Kareem.

Skyhook from 5, 10, 20 feet. Over 7'-4" Mark Eaton. Went around Parrish. Dunked on Wilt. I never got to see Kareem in his prime. Didn't start watching bball until '83ish. He was already old by then.

Insane that he’s not ever mentioned as the GOAT. I don’t recall the NCAA or NBA needing to change the rules because Jordan or LeBron were too dominant. But they did for Kareem.

I say #9 would actually be the only 3 pointer he made in his entire NBA career. He was behind the 3point line and not 1 defender was on him and he just said the heck with it and tried it and he got it!!

Growing up in New England in the 80s, watching the Celitcs play the Lakers was great. I was a Celtic fan, but I repected the Lakers. Magic and Kareem were two of the best.

Once you learn sky hook, you won't do fade aways or any other style of shot. It is very easy and unstoppable once you perfected it. If Jordan had a hook shot he would have scored over 40,000 instead of that fade away.

I stole Kareem's Sky Hook. It served me well for many years. I don't know why no one uses it today. It's unblockable. Anyway, Kareem was one of a kind.

First of all, so-called "Kareem Abdul-Jabbar" isn't even his real birth name? I think it's a disgrace and shows complete disrespect of one's heritage to change their birth name, unless when a woman gets married. If a woman gets married and DOESN'T change her last name, that shows no respect to her husband. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the name "Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor Jr"?! The change was probably made as a result of a greedy Business Manager with respect to perceived anticipation of greater recognition and subsequent monetary gain?! Furthermore why would anybody put a hyphen in their name, ESPECIALLY a man?!

He changed it for religious purposes, just like Hakeem did. Kareem didn't care about publicity, recognition, financial gains, as much as personal peace, inner satisfaction. Your views are your views, but do your homework, before speaking out.
