Parents are old and have wisdom. Wisdom is intelligence multiplied by experience, so even if your dad is no more intelligent than you are and has an intelligence of 1 if he has 3 experience then his wisdom will also be 3 and that has to be useful.
The people who listen to the XFM series know that when Karl first started talking, Ricky and Steve were both really interested by him, but the heads of the radio station told them "don't let Karl talk" because they thought his stupidity would ruin the show. Up until he started talking, Karl was just a guy who pressed the buttons. But Ricky went against the orders of the station and let Karl speak because he knew Karl's rambling was funny, and Karl quickly became the star of the show.
I'm with Karl on this one. When the furniture shop advertises their beds on the shop floor, then they shouldn't advertise the beds with mattresses when the mattresses have nothing to do with the purchase.
They put mattress on the beds so you can see what the bed frame looks like with a mattress on top. If they didn't, you would just be showing people a bunch of empty frames and it wouldn't look appealing.
Where I live we just put all our unwanted stuff in the street and the council just come and collect it, usually it's gone before they come. I've found computers in working order, CRT monitors, TVs etc BUT never touch any type of furniture people chuck furniture out because often it's full of BED BUGS.
I do agree with Karl. I can understand that shops sell mattresses separately because sometimes people only need a new mattress but if someone is buying a bed frame, surely the shop assistant would ask the person whether they had a mattress or not. Like Karl said, it isn't a bed without a mattress!
Calling someone a fuck-wit is huge in the UK, it means having no wit or being stupid, similar to how we say "fuck-all" to mean nothing, at some point fuck must have been synonymous with zero or nothing here in the UK, because it's used a lot to mean no or nothing. "Did you get that promotion you hoped for?" "Did I fuck!" (no) "Did you fuck that girl last night?" "Did I fuck!" (again, no)
The recycling center near me doesn't do much recycling, it's more of just an acceptable place to leave or remove unused items. Somewhere to take a TV or a bed so you aren't just cluttering your street but also a place that folks with no cash can pick up free furniture, I know a guy who collects the TV's that get left in the electronics shed and tries to fix them to sell on, if he can't he just brings them back to the place.
Karl actually has a good point. Why do they have the different beds on display, so you can try them out, if the matress isn't "part of the deal"? Let's face it, if you buy a bed the main selling point of it is the matress.
This reminds me of when I bought my stove/oven. The wire that goes from the unit itself to the wall, you have to buy seperately from the delivery man. :P
I've got to say that I fully agree with Karl that a mattress is a piece of furniture. The OED defines furniture as 'The movable articles that are used to make a room or building suitable for living or working in'. A mattress would definitely constitute furniture by that definition.
Now what might the video have with poverty or government? Well, the US local governments, now under budget stress, are charging more and more to remove items from private homes or rentals. And yes, must get it to the curb or the recycling stations. It's a big project for anyone, and requires more than an individual person. Cities now on recyclables (basic) and recyclables (advanced) which involve medications, lead, electronics, paints, and other items to be removed from the "recyclables" and "general landfills". Cities itself have management and workers, and have been asked to have their own designated "health and human services" coordinator (usually non-profit, involves transportation). And then, there is composting, and so forth. Julie Ann Racino 2016
hes right, if something is wrong it should be difficult to do it, if u dont want ppl throwing stuff on the street then make sure they have an easy and reachable alternative
I have no idea how Karl doesn't quitely dislike these guys, constantly being ridiculed and laughed at. Must suck. After a week or so of watching these I'm getting somewhat tired of them berating him I can only imagine how bad he feels.
Definately. Some of the stuff that they rag on him about is in Karl's favor, but a lot of the stuff he says really is painfully dumb. Some of the stuff i can agree with, like having a machine that has the doctor feel the way the patient feels so he can get a better understanding of the sympotms of a specific illness. I however cannot agree with his idea that recycling is too much work, or that having newborn babies come out of our bodies after we die would be a good solution for overpopulation.
Agreed. It is like Curb Your Enthusiasm without the underlying sanity/insanity issue. Karl is just supposed to be stupid, but occasionally his stories don't sound all that unreasonable (like this one).
i love the show i think the only annoying bit is i can tell Ricky understands Karls points or at least the basic gist of what hes sayin, but will jump on the opportunity to give him shit for improperly explaining it instead of just helping him with his wording, not everyones blessed with higher education, actually karls pretty fuckin smart for having a daft vernacular
Dewey Ricky Gervais the person is a fucking asshole who cheers when someone gets killed by wildlife because he is so fucked up by preservation. I think killing togets and elephants is just evil too but I think anyone who makes a joyful Twitter post about it and then has his legion of just-as-fucked-up animal rightists reply with cheers, happiness and “he deserved it”s (thousands and thousands of people) is a piece of shit human.
In Australia everyone dumps everything out the front of there house and anyone can take it for free anytime, mostly in close communities though. Heaps of old bikes and couches for the poorer family's
In the UK you cannot take anything that isn't yours without permission, if someone leaves a bike next to a bin and you remove it without the consent of the current owner - even if it is being discarded - you've committed a crime. They had to enact that law because Pikeys and gypsies couldn't distinguish between things left next to a bin or inside it with the actual bin itself and all the other contents of your garden such as ornaments, furniture, plants and pets. For the same reason you are not allowed to leave items next to your bin because it is might attract said invasive species.
Yup. People purchase beds so infrequently, it's easy for them to forget about the mattress. If you worked in a furniture store you'd see this situation EVERY DAY... any halfway-decent salesperson would know to bring the subject up. Karl's stupidity is that he thinks a bedframe should automatically come with a mattress, when the problem is that the salesperson should have asked him if he needed one. I hope Suzanne made him launder the sheets after they'd been on that nasty mattress...
it's "functional", therefore it's not furniture. Sooooo is a cabinet not a piece of furniture it to is functional. Sometimes I feel like Steve and Ricky are really less intelligent than Karl
All the humor in these things comes from Karl. The other two guys just toss insults and laugh at him, and occasionally they get him going on a topic of conversation.
