Karl is in total control of this podcast. The fact that people are conned into believing that he’s the fall guy is testimony to the amazing comic chemistry at work between these three friends. It’s all an amazingly funny act. It’s total comedic genius.
Karls tone of voice and intonation doesn’t change whatsoever except for some very rare occasions. But when they’re talking about his old school mates you can hear the smile on his face.
I had a paper route as a kid too Karl and I loved it! My papers and flyers were delivered at 5:30am and I was up by 6am as a 10 yr old and I got my banana seat bike out with a front basket and threw my papers and flyers until 7:30am.. I would go home and have a bowl of porridge our mom made , grab my Fonzie lunch kit and head to school. It’s 2O24 now… how many kids do that today? And if they do, how Many unaccompanied without a parent?! I will bet ZERO!!!!!!! I get Karl about the paper route… I loved it too! As adults now we all have bosses who Can be dick heads. Karl and I are the same age by a year. I’m a 71 kid and he is a 72 kid. He and I always talk about how times have changed
Ricky is horrible though. Even when Karl talks about thinking he heard a ghost as a child he needs to be the “smart” guy in the room who preaches his materialistic stuff. He’s arrogant really and loves to point out how his “logic” is flawless.
12:00 he sounds a lot more jolly and sort of 'in on it' in this era, unlike the podcast era where he plays the straight man a lot more. Interesting to hear the evolution of the character 😁
You are 100% right. I notice that sometimes Karl will make a really interesting point but can't articulate it very well and rather than trying to engage with it he just does his 'karl you're so stupid bit'
I live in Manchester and I shit you not for about two weeks we had a magpie with one leg come into our garden eat bread and chill with us, did Karl’s magpie have one leg or does he know if it was prone to losing a leg
There is a kinda method to Karl's madness n it's like Ricky don't give him enough credit, whilst Steve does every now and then yet rips the s%&t out of him all the same...
Ricky hired him to be on the show _because_ Ricky thinks he's brilliant. The joke is that he doesn't give him enough credit. It wouldn't be fun to listen to if there wasn't that tension. Ricky pays him a salary to do his thing on the show...
Poor Karl, I hav listen to loads of these tapes over the years, just started listening to them again, and it is just Karl being bullied by Stephen and Ricki. Poor Karl.
That's the joke, Steven. They're not supposed to fill hours of time giving each other back massages. Karl gets paid good money to play his part and keep it interesting.
So I go in for a two level spinal surgery in a few hours and I'm telling you right now that I'm sure as shit gonna survive, and my surgery is gonna work cause I'm not doin' no damn croppin' in the afterlife!

When my grandfather died there was these flying light's moving round his body, my grandmother thought it was car light's but living in the country there was nothing there, she came out with her sister shaking both looking frightened, real or true, who the hell knows but they both looked terrified for day's, Karl would love this story
@weepiest nutt I’ve watched everything he’s even done and even bought my children those terrible kids books he made. I also am a big fan of Karl (deffo not pretending to be stupid) Pilkington, but the ear piercing screams he does when no ones talks to him for 5 seconds is too much. So yeah, I’ve stopped listening lol
I enjoy it myself but the cackling is obnoxious. I wanted to fall asleep to it but turning it off now so I agree it can go. There's so many versions of the same conversations so why not make one without his screaming? Someone please.

That's normal, a lot of kids in my school did that even ones I hadn't seen in 2-3 years. You can sit your exams anywhere. Also he's in his 30's here. I'm 24, I don't remember a lot things from school especially names of students and teachers and I barely remember any exams.
@@rileychev Yeah but we're talking about the 80s. I left in the early 80s and I don't remember anyone leaving before they had done their exams. Except maybe ones that wern't taking any!
Im guessing that Karl was so disruptive at school, making himself sick when he couldnt get his own way etc that the school were glad when he didnt turn up. Parents didnt give a toss either.

Obviously a lie that the priest kept coming round on a Sunday when he'd just catch him on the Friday. Also when he said he took an ice pole out the shopping bags and it got lodged in his throat..... It would've been liquid ??
If this is the takeaway you have gotten from this, I feel bad for you. Karl is actually incredibly intelligent and naturally funny. He's a bit different but no less intelligent.
@@SmokeymcJoint420 I'm not sure what you've been listening to! You make a list of all the intelligent things he's said and I'll list the dopey things. Mine may take a while though. I might start with "How would I know which one I was" etc etc. I struggle to think of a single theory or concept they talk about, that he ever got to grips with!
