"I was playing football with my boys and my oldest said "Dad, I really want to go back to church. I miss it." And I asked "Why do you miss it?" And he says "I miss the feeling I had there." Then the other boys chimed in and said they really wanted to go back to Scouts. Then we all hugged and had that moment and they just said "Dad can you take us back to church?" And it just floored me, so I took them the next week."

The strength of the opposition indicates the strength of our position. If we were like every other church, no one would oppose us. But we Latter-day Saints stand for something, and that is that God speaks today. Thanks for sharing. Each of us must come to a knowledge of the truth through study, prayer and the witness of the Holy Spirit.

I love these stories so much. Just how real and vulnerable they are. I was able to feel my saviours love through this. And also was able to relate to his son's experience. My family also was less active and trying to figure things out after my parent's divorce. To make a long story short the missionaries found us and the ward rallied to take me and my siblings to church and church activities when our parents couldn't/didn't want to and I started going to seminary and gained a testimony and the rest is history so to speak. Served a mission, married in the temple, had a kid with another on its way. Both my parents had their own paths back to the church and are now amiable to each other. Life is not perfect but it is good. God is good.

What a story! The children who find a way amaze me sooo much!! And give a lot of hope. It's kind of like salmon who leave their home, enter the teaming ocean, then make their way back to the stream of their beginning. The children often get crumbs and make a beautiful life out of those crumbs. God bless!!

Ashley, thank you. I'm sure you get quite a few of those lately. The popular thing to do these days is to post videos about how you finally have seen the light, etc, and have left the church. One of my favorite hymns is, who's on the Lord's side who? In it is the most powerful true statement there ever was. " No coward bears our flag". Bravo good woman. Another great interview, Ashly. Thank you. And thanks to Karl, too. The peace inside people who come back is plain to see. And I know it, too, from experience. But like when I left church and entertained the anti’s views, that peace just simply wasn’t there. A lot of them have a really septic, putrefying energy. It’s ironic that the thing they hate so much becomes the central focal point of their lives. Others just move on. When my gay brother left, he still loved and supported my mom going. And when a friend got unjustly excommunicated with no evidence he just moved on a setup a highly successful international business. Whingers, whiners and complainers love to cluster, and it has nothing to do with the church. And everything to do with mindset. Whether at the drinking fountain at work, in the army, or anywhere there are people, you always find them. In business they’re called crap magnets. I’m so glad I moved on from that and left it all behind. So grateful for Karl’s testimony. The peace of the Saviour and His gospel, being square in your own conscience, and your bishop is very real, and simply can’t be replicated in any drug den, den of depravity or anywhere else the world has to offer. Repentance truly is a gift from God, an invitation to turn away from the direction you’re going in and turn your heart back towards Him. “Peace give I unto you. Not as the world giveth, give I unto you.”

It comes down to this in my mind... were you happy in the old world with your ex, thinking the church wasn't true but doing the things you were doing? Or living the life in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, whether it's true or not? I truly believe it's true and I pick that path to live because it makes me happy, peaceful, helps me be more loving and giving. The other way when you're going down a wrong path, you're selfish, everything is about you and it gets very lonely. So, why not pick the path to live the way Jesus lived to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ? It seems like a no Brainer. I do admire all these stories and the bravery it takes to tell them. Even though I never wanted to leave the church, and I'm 68 now, these stories help me to keep the faith for some of my children that have left that they might return before I die one day ❤

Heartfelt story. My only concern is that Karl's portrayal of former LDS might be taken too universally. Most former LDS I know go on living moral lives with strong families and merely have a different set of personal beliefs based on their own moral convictions. People of all faiths can fall into vices that they need to escape from. I'm glad that the church helped Karl get his life back on track.

For me what it comes down to personal revelation and a relationship with God. God is the main piece to all of this and what I have been noticing is the people who don't have that piece are the ones who struggle the most.-Lauren

@@Come.Back.Podcast I would say that for the most part, I completely agree with you. I have talked with, and interviewed hundreds of people who have gone thru or are going thru struggles with their beliefs. I find that in many, many of those cases, people have put their trust and faith in an Organization, and not The Gospel. In order for me to make everything work, I had to separate "The Church" and "The Gospel" and realize that they are not the same thing. The Church is a vehicle that will lead us to The Gospel, and when we rely too much on an institution that is led by people who make mistakes and don't always do the right thing, when we find those flaws, it is damaging to our testimonies because they weren't founded in the right things...Namely what you mentioned. Personal revelation and a relationship with Deity. It's not that these persons are "Lazy Learners" or that they "Want to sin" or that the gospel is "Too hard or demanding" it's that when the warts and blemishes of The Church are discovered, they don't know how to deal with it, because they always believed there weren't any!! I recently read a book by Henry Eyring Sr. called "Reflections of a Scientist". Amazing book IMHO and I loved the fact that he has always advocated for the warts and blemishes to be front and center. If I had one minor complaint about how The Church has handled some of these issues it would be that I feel like they have acted like an overprotective parent in that they haven't publicly dealt with turbulent issues. Thanks for everything :)

When you seek answers from the Book of Mormon instead of the Bible, God can't help you because you have turned your back on Him. Therefore this leaves the door open for Satan (II Corinthians 11:14-15) to step into your life with a false christ or prophet showing you "signs and wonders" to lead you away from the real Jesus of the Bible who is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity. God Himself warns us about this in MATTHEW 24:23-24 "Then if anyone says to you, Look, here is the Christ! or There! do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect..." Mormons teach and believe that their jesus is the brother of Satan, which contradicts what God says in His Bible that Jesus is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity. So Mormons, which Jesus do you believe in? A. Your jesus of the Book of Mormon, who is the brother of Satan. OR B. The Jesus of the Bible, who is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity.

Matthew 7:16-20 King James Version 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

@Brent Statham II CORINTHIANS 11:14-15 "And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works..." MATTHEW 24:23-24 "Then if anyone says to you,Look, here is the Christ! or There! do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect..." So "great signs and wonders" don't mean the truth. Knowing the true identity of Jesus Christ (John 14:6) in a world full of false christs and false prophets (Matthew 24:23-24) will mean the difference between you going to heaven or hell.

@Millennial Falkon Well here's your chance to show me the truth (?). Answer this question: Why isn't there any archeological evidence to support any stories that is in the Book of Mormon? @@AlbertJLouieif you spent time talking to a member of the church who has overcome sin through the Atonement of Jesus Christ from the doctrines taught in the Book of Mormon that in my mind would be plenty of evidence. Having archaeological evidence for the Bible does not save one from sin. We all have that. Having faith in Jesus Christ will save. Open your heart and listen and watch someone who has been transformed through the Grace of Jesus Christ. The spiritual archeology is more important than then physical. As Jesus said to Thomas, blessed are those that haven’t seen but believe.
