I have read the BofM over 20 times all the way through in the hopes I would get that feeling but it never came. The more I read it the more the details stood out to me. The first several times I read it, I didn’t find it disturbing but the more I read it I saw the small messages and it became disturbing to me.

Lehi had open communication and unconditional love for Laman and Lemuel. He still expected and taught them high standards that not all his children wanted to adhere to. Keeping and expecting those high standards is not the same as “not loving unconditionally”. Or am I overthinking your comment and it’s intent?
@@dcarts5616 I was remembering how hateful my LDS mother became towards me when I became an evangelical. It pushed me farther away from the LDS church ⛪️ She behaved like an enemy!
@@GrandmaKnightLife I recall this same sentiment when my mom and dad decided to attend the LDS church in their early 20’s. My mom was a convert, my dad less active that came back. The backlash from her “Christian” parents (my grandparents) was dreadful. They hated my dad, and basically disowned but not completely my mother, who mind you, was an only child. It was an interesting time. I don’t like that anyone would shun people for their beliefs. We have an open policy in my home; do what you want religiously and you’ll be loved and accepted UNLESS you go anti and then we’ll have issues. Respect my beliefs, I’ll respect your beliefs.
@@dcarts5616 all I said to her was that I didn’t want to go to seminary anymore and said I didn’t believe that men could become Gods (I said it calmly and respectfully) and she became furious with me and started attacking me for no reason when I was just going about my business and not attacking her.
@@GrandmaKnightLife I’m just saying that it’s a two way street. There’s plenty of hate that goes around. It’s not just relegated to “Mormons hating their kids/family who leave the faith and stop communicating with ones who leave or believe differently”. And “Mormons” don’t believe in becoming gods in the way it’s interpreted to mean by outsiders. Just like a child will grow up to become like their parents, LDS believe they will become like our heavenly parents. I don’t think a few comments by some leaders in the church in a few select paragraphs does our true believe on the matter much grace. The Bible is clear in a few areas that get ignored in some churches and the LDS takes them as truth. The apostasy is real, I invite you to see what happened to Christ’s church and its structure after his apostles died off around 97-101AD. It was a nasty 1700 years before Christ restored the Gospel in a religious freedom backed US nation. God lives, His Son died and was resurrected for us, the comforter is our guide to help us recognize and remember truth we knew prior to our mortal life. The heavens are not closed. We could all do better. Attacking the LDS is simply a cop out for others to not be better too.

I love serving in the temple with my wife helps me remember how import the good women of the church. The authority they hold to blesses the live of just not the sisters but their husbands and families
Wow what an experience Kenna! So no clothing recommended by the priesthood _upon_ the body but liquor promoted by "conspiring men of the last days" _within_ the body. That evil one can really put a point of view in us, where good seems evil and evil seems good. And your experience was first hand!

What a great podcast. I love the view of the new ways the church is going by accepting everyone for who they are and not by not having a Temple recommend. That’s one of the biggest reasons I’ve come back. Thank you for that analogy on the bishop. If I do my Come Back Podcast, it will include my experience with a bishop. But thank you for your comment on its only a man over his head. I love this podcast every one I listen too just reinforces my desire to be back in gods presence.
I don’t know what you mean by “now the church is accepting of non-temple recommend holders”. I have been in seasons of non-temple worthiness and never felt I wasn’t accepted. I put myself out of worthiness, not the church or the temple recommend. I don’t understand your comment. Can you help me out to better understand what I’m clearly missing?
@@dcarts5616 I’m 65 when I left the church 50 years ago the members were cruel too those that didn’t follow all the rules. Yes you were looked down upon by members if you didn’t have your Temple recommend. All I’m saying now is the church is accepting of you no matter where your testimony lies nor how faithful you act towards all the covenants. Thats all now between you/me and god no one else. That’s a big stress reliever. That’s one of the reasons I’ve came back. Try finding all my comments to the podcast and you’ll know me better.
@@r.dwoodruff501 I come from a family of multiple excommunicated members since the 1830’s. One thing I noticed and that those I was able to meet over the last 5 decades related to me, is that a lot of the scorn was self inflicted. I’m not saying in your case, but in most cases. Myself, while I didn’t have a recommend, I self-purged a lot. Nobody knew, nobody knew why, but I thought they knew and I thought that they knew why so I acted like they did and I ended up alienated, self inflicted though. There’s a lot of projection going on in the church among ex-members or those of us having struggles. It’s not healthy, it’s not good, it’s not conducive to the gospel. I’m glad you are back. Are you rich now? Most on this podcast are super wealthy and it all came from leaving and coming back…at least that’s the broad strokes I paint with the people who are in this podcast. ;) (that’s my struggle, it’s my experience, I’m sure you’ll let me have it and help affirm whatever I say is truth because I have experienced it)
@@dcarts5616 I very wealthy in blessing. I listen to all these podcasts and see my story in almost every story. I’m very thankful to be back for myself and no one else. I’m praying faithfully to see if I should share my story. One thing I’ve learned in AA as I’m a recovering alcoholic 8 years clean and it best to tell your story to cleanse oneself. I’m not going to blast you for its your opinion and your welcome to have it as one lesson I’ve learned from Jesus is to love all unconditionally. Also I’m a great great grandson of Wilford Woodruff. I thought this video was going to be more about somebody who left the church because of the principal reasons most people are leaving today, namely, church, history, and problematic church doctrine that is unable to be explained away Sounds like her journey was more of one with some personal trauma earlier in her life, and then persuaded by church leaders, and some personal experiences to come back to the church. Those personal experiences that she mentions, which brought her back into the church, are actually not unique to the LDS church, and could’ve honestly happened in any religion Unfortunately, most people who leave because of doctrine and church history issues, never make their way back because there are no answers sufficient enough to bring them back
The title of this episode is pretty clear. If you go through and read the others you will find different experiences with history, doctrine etc. There is even a playlist specifically for that if you search in our playlist categories.
Because LDS church history is rather young, it’s easy not to memory hole or look back according to today’s norms, it’s also easy to glance over the history and past of other faiths, and the trouble it must be when looking back to adhere to them also. Indulgences? Burning people alive after spilling their guts? Hanging people upside down? Worship of saints and Mary ?Gathering up and killing people who believe differently? Creation of new theology so you can be more mainstream? Establishing new churches to be able to divorce? Killing people who wanted to read the Bible in their own home in their own language? I mean LDS church history is a G-rated pre-wokeism Disney cartoon compared to how we got to modern Catholicism, Protestant, Baptist, Islam, Buddhism, Hindu etc. Leaving the lds church over church history is sad and it happens to a lot of people. The spirit still testifies of the truths of the doctrine, period.
