@@jackb1040 The part at like 2:11 where the lyrics are like "I shoot at people like they were targets with my own hands" midway through the lyric it sounds really haunting and howly because of the quality of the recording and it just makes an already catchy song really haunting.
Reminds me of some of Kocayine’s old stuff with potato quality lol. Ja sin sam tvoj zemljo hit different when the video looked like the tape went through a paper shredder
RU-vid started recommending me the hell out of the music you've been sharing and now all I've been listening to as of late is Soviet/Russian Rock and Afghan/Chechen war music. The shit slaps so hard ngl. The biggest issue I've been having is finding much of it in their original arrangements and by the original artists on Spotify. Regardless you're doing God's work my guy so keep at it because this stuff is amazing. o7
@@ChristopherTreeChronicles yes I did, I posted twice a reply with the spotify link to the song (sadly it's not the same recording), but for some reason, the comment keeps disappearing. So here's the info to help.
Christ, 3:25 when the organ goes into that negative melody encore twice and then the casualty officer/ soldier is ‘soldering’ the Zinc 200 Cargo coffin sends absolute chills down my spine and then the verse about ‘mothers never getting to see their sons through those ‘zinc coffins’. As I’m sure many of them are badly mangled and then the return flight on the ‘black Tulip’ does not spell a smooth transit and preservation of the body. Shit has me absolutely shook. Love this song.
"I shoot at people as if they were targets, with my own hands" "Forgotten people, to hell with all wars, throughout the ages" This hits diffirently now
Only those who come from the war know the true price of the war. To the many sleepless nights filled with flashbacks and screaming veterans waking themselves up with tears. To the best of us, who never came home & to the heroes in the helicopter and recon divisions. To the lost family and friends, to the true price of war. Sacrifice isn't only necessary for freedom, mourning is as well, for we pay just as much as our brothers in uniform did. Виват, Sovietski. Виват
I used to listen to "Song of the Scout" at my lowest. But this is good too. I'm good now but I go back to Kaskad to feel welcome in a place where depression and hopelessness is show in a pure form, so I can feel like others can relate.
When you begin thinking about the guys that appear on the video you ask yourself if they’re alive and right, thinking about the fact that their appearance on the tape might have been some of their last moments on earth, also watching the coffins, not only the zinc ones but the others that are like wood crates, hits hard thinking that those guys had a mother and a family and even though they have been resting 30-40 years ago, you can’t stop thinking about that you are seeing a corpse, one of a human inside a wooden or metallic crate, who is probably forgotten to the wrath of war.
Good old omnistar did my request Thank you very much for listening to your fans. Great work timing the visuals with the lyrics, gives more immersion into the song
Again, alarms, and again we enter the night into the fight, Again anxiety, again we are entering a fight night, When demobilization I see a mother and a house mother, When forget a blazing fire in the house, Here we shoot here as the first and there is a war. During the pass in the deep gorge again shooting, You’re three lie behind a rock after the death of a fool, Maybe tomorrow I have the same fate awaits, Here we shoot here as the first and there is a war. And early in the morning will find three dead among the rocks, And silenced the people considering their death disaster, And everyone will know that this night the trouble came, Here, all shot here as the first and there is a war. The sand is red-hot scorching sun in his sixties, And sweat trickles burn the eyes of children, And though in the canteens of water left on the polglotka, Here we shoot here as the first and there is a war. The people shooting at targets like my hand, Lost-used people in the hearts of all wars for all ages, And here we go at night Desert trail in the mountains, And we will be back but even so someone left there. Already more than a year in Afghanistan and here in the spring, I came my demobilization and I came back to his home, His girl from a drunken look of happiness in her eyes, The whole world and there is shooting as before there is a war. Well guys pour glasses for those guys, Who gave his life for the happiness of others, Who does not see the relatives to the grave his own mother, For those guys who got in the land lay.
Zinc coffins... Makes me want to cry. Now the coalition is leaving, but have we learnt anything? Why didn't the West get this kind of music, it's like no one cares.
I feel like when it’s a sad war the soldiers then will make songs, the US has been mostly upbeat about the war on terror where in Vietnam to Afghanistan it was a very sad war
@@case3270 it's just so disheartening. I know the coalition lost far fewer soldiers than the USSR did. And conditions for them were better than the Soviets. But it feels like no one in the public actually gives a shit. Here in Australia, we are going through war crimes investigations into our SASR. Our most decorated soldier is in hot water over potential crimes and bullying. But there is no reflective art of the whole event. Perhaps in the future, when we are teaching our children about what went on over there, we will have a better sense of proportions. But right now, it feels like a forgotten war and a forgotten people (Afgahns). That's my two cents.
2:10 This punches me in the heart, its like he's in a shell shocked trance and is in despair about how much death he causes but can't do anything because its become instinct at this point
(1991)/Thank you for your work, author, it is very unusual to see that people from other countries are interested in Soviet / Russian military songs and translate them. If anything in the video used footage from the film Afghan Breakdown (1991)
Not all english-speaking people on this site are American. And those who are have little agency over what their military does, so I wouldn’t criticize them for having a conscience
new comment, just wanted to add how many elements are in this song. The treatment and thoughts behind the war treated so carelessly with care, such as "here like before, there is war" sounding as if the soldiers were just doing their duty to then a somber line with them describing their fallen comrades. And on top of the beat sounding like a clock continuing along, man this song means something else.

Always love to hear Gruppa Kaskad. Excellent video as always. Also, I love that your channel is starting to grow. Nice to see more people hearing this kind of music.
@@Televizor-lw9wrI need to learn Russian because that cant be how your language actually looks. It's more confident than German names for military vehicles.
I'd describe Russia, as poor facist America, but with less guns and less liberals. Seriously I'm tired of these idiots, but GOD BLESS AMERICA, cause I'll never leave without the intent of returning. Anyway, as I was saying, we have both even fought in Afghanistan, and had very similar experiences, except America wasnt pushed out, we left because of ol' Sleepy Joe. I have never served but I respect veterans and military personnel more than almost anyone else, besides Jesus himself. In my opinion we shouldn't have left until a stable government capable of defending itself was established, we lost 20,000 men for nothing. The only substitution I'd accept for victory is leaving 20 million unburied taliban bodies in a ditch over there. I have nothing against their people, but that kind of terrorist shouldn't be breathing today.
2:10 hits really hard and is truly poetic. The voice of anger in his voice and the act of his hands he cant control because he needs to do what has to be done in order to survive in this hell.
Thank you so much for continueing to upload historical songs, and it is much appreciated that you included the chords! It can be a pain to find them, and I'm not quite good enough on guitar to play entirely by ear yet
No problem, I don't play guitar myself but I know they can be pretty hard if you aren't searching in russian, and I always appreciate people learning these songs themselves or sharing them further, it keeps them alive.

Honestly comparing late Soviet Rock to post-9/11 American music when it comes to the depiction of war is jolting, to say the least. You see a lot of glorification in American music, especially in country music. I mean, sure you have some standouts like Green Day that are anti-war, but they're the outliers.
in eastern europe, men try to mask their pain by singing and speaking. A form of laughter or artificial fun. You need to listen to the words in the sentences and realize that he is in pain because of the current situation. Laughter / fun helps to relieve stress. The worst moments are when you are left alone with your thoughts then you walk the paths of hell. Your own thoughts are slowly torturing you, reminding you of all the moments. Alcohol and drugs help to block this at first but later involve you in another (alcoholism-addiction) problem and relive memories of the past.
Great timing, great songs! But many of those war related russian songs have variable lyrics or just handmade, and 'cause of that have many mistakes Do you need any help with that? If you do, where can I go?
Yeah, sorry, I was in the process of remastering it and correcting the subs, again. That video was really a mess for me, I think maybe I was just tired when I made it, but the subs were pretty messed up. I really want to put my best work forward and so I will try to correct everything and reupload soon.
Try "Communism - Sireni Voy" (rus. Although it was covered in 1989 (by Yegor Letov himself!) it sounds clearer (lyrics is a little bit off). Search it on YT. If you can't find it copy-paste russian name I gave ya.
