Agree. We have been very lucky to live through this period in time so many great things to see.Gk and Magnus Gretzky Jordan Federer ... YOYO MA!!! name it.....blessed and thankful.
@@MKD1101 from what agadmator said, carlsen is more a positional player, which would more like the immovable object while kasparov is more an offensive player.
@@goku445 but I am saying according to history! Like how carlsen came on scene and swiftly rose to highest rating and how Kasparov stayed on top of ranking and as a world champion for the longest.
@@muhanadabuothman359 he was a kid at that time, so... It's like saying a 14 year old lost two times against Connor McGregor, bro. Except that kid managed to draw against Kasparov once.
'If the enemy is weak, attack him! If he's strong, avoid him' -Sun Tzu Wise decision from Kasparov of trading as many pieces as possible to simplify the position and avoid complications against Carlsen. Nice video :)
@@dafunk1700 well you can study as much as you want, but raw talent is not something you can learn. No computer can teach you how to play 20 games at the same time while blindfolded.
@@shankara3853 We can argue forever about who was the greatest, Fischer had the highest 1 year peak....It's Kasparov and Carlsen after that 2-10 years dominance. They're all great, Kasparov and Carlsen have achieved far more, both have many title defenses, while Fischer had none as he just left without defending his title, he has famous candidates scores and that 16 game winning streak vs GM's, the 20 game streak incuded forfeits and IM's. Length of dominance it's Garry, with Carlsen close behind, Fischer just had a super high peak for a short period.
Imagine magnus winning this game and saying - "Why does he exchange queens, doesn't he know that I'm the greatest endgame player of all time." As he said in a banter blitz game.
Complaining about spoilers in the comment section to the video remains one of the dumbest complaints. People are going to talk about the result- don’t read the comments before watching the video.
Randomizing power pieces is the most competitive and testing of adaptability and positing, however the original chess captures the beauty of infinite theory crafting and counter play, as well as a testing of deep knowledge of lines
Kasparov once described Carlsen as a "lethal combination of Fischer and Karpov" . I can't help wonder how exciting and full of creative, close, hard-fought games Kasparov would have had against Fischer. This game was an enjoyable duel. Kasparov is truly a legend of the game. Carlsen's play in this game was reminiscent of a neo-Fischer; perhaps he has to tap into his inner "Karpov" to convert those very technical endgames where only one move wins!
@Emperor AlHasan Remember he also has a bit of Fischer in him, stylistically of course. This game was close but Carlsen had more of the chances so it may just be a matter of time before he finally takes down the "beast of Baku"
I always appreciate the "if you found the move, congratulations on being great at..." parts. I'm still a noob but I usually find the right moves and it makes me feel like I'm getting better.
I have been looking forward to this since I heard about it. I'm a little bit disappointed that it ended in a draw, but it shows that the beast is still playing at the highest level in the world. After his game with Alireza and his draw with Carlsen, Kasparov still proves to the world that he is the greatest of all time.
Yeah 960 is pure tactics / talent, something that you don't lose much of when getting older. It's the known tricks and the new generational tricks / theories that are difficult as one grows older.
I'm not, but I always tend to hope for a "great match' rather than one champion to win. Can't say we necessarily got that here, in a Rapid match, but still entertaining, and Kasparov remains (somewhat, just a little bit) of a white whale for Magnus.
@@jwatson181 nah that reason is that he retired in 2005. All of the players in the Legends tournament retired very recently so they're still in touch with their play.
There are people that are world beaters at what they do and they display a humble attitude about it. Then there are those who boast about watching a RU-vid video first. Bravo to you!
I’m not sure you could have picked a worse game to comment that on. Carlsen and Kasparov are 2 of the greatest chess players ever, Carlsen probably The Greatest, but they’re far from humble, especially Kasparov
Great video, great recap of the match most awaited this year. Garry's in a great shape. Carlsen plays quite creatively and solid. What a pleasure seeing both play again.
When you played nakamura in blitz chess and you announced your move that blundered the game. I couldnt stop laughing. Great channel, i watch all the games. Better than television!!
i had an idea for a variation of chess, when a piece captures 3 times it gains an ability. for example a pawn will then be able to capture en passant at any given time, queen gains the knights moveset, rook gains king moveset, bishop and knight can move one square horizontally or vertically and finally the king can capture twice in one direction (activated white pieces will turn red, black pieces blue)
Can we have a wild card entry for Kasparov in the candidates tournament ? Would love to see him compete against Carlsen for the Championship and regain his title👑♥️
The opening position was just the regular starting position, but with the king and bishop swapped, it's almost as if someone wanted to have kasparov face carlsen in a regular chess game. Not saying that's what happened, but it's strange that it happened in this of all matches.
07:41 That black pawn formation of Magnus reminds me of the pawn line which Elisabeth Harmon used in "The Queen's Gambit" series, when she played against Vasily Borgov in the last episode. Or at least, it looks similar or maybe I'm wrong.
Is there any tournament that allows player to choose where their pieces start? It would be awesome, there would be incomplete information as to how your opponent will setup their pieces. A whole different depth of tactics would be involved.
this is more impressive for kAsparov considering he’s retired and doesn’t have the same regiment as Carlson, which he is a very active player, so considering Kasparov is more “rusty”, and he’s still handling the top player in the world like this is actually insane
Bravisimo Га́рри Ки́мович Каспа́ров !! (Kasparov) You proved to us all, why you were the immortal champion for so long, what an honor to witness your greatness once again. Could'nt have thought out a more fitting ending, than this beautiful draw, between two legends!
Nice save by Kasparov! But it's a shame these two have met so rarely. And although Gary is still a wonderful player, time takes its toll on all of us, and the opportunities for these matches to be competitive are quickly slipping away.
Actually it was in Carlsen's favour to trade as many pieces as possible. I think Kasparov feared losing on time more than entering an endgame against Magnus thats why he trades queens. Still hoping for a classical ragular game between these 2 legends.
My goodness Kasparov was looking over the abyss twice but manages to hold on Once again. What delicate endgame. Excellent study material for a rainy weekend here in Florida.
Many people are confused with the starting position. I think this is one instance of the so called Fischer random chess aka 960. We can read in wiki that this is a new valid type where Fide had even the championsip in which GM Wesley So became the world champion.
line agad suggesting is wrong and losing for magnus, 12:11 magnus can't defend with Kf6, Kasparov's Re6+ wins forcing magnus to exchange rooks and reaching h6 while black king is struck at g8 defending pawns. after h4 by white with tempo puts black in zugzwang and wins both g6 and h7 pawns.
All chess channels have helped me so much on understanding the game and realizing how much fun chess is, i stopped playing when i was 14 years old and i'm so glad i started playing again. Thank you for your videos sir 🙏
Magnus Carlsen got this game in the bag but this game proved that going against the best of the best plays a big factor in the nerve as he blundered twice in this game and such effect also applies to Magnus' opponent when they are going against him
I'm very disappointed that the organizers moved a few pieces to different locations. That creates a totally different game. So we still don't answer the question of who can beat whom, because they didn't play the standard game. Too bad.
> I'm very disappointed that the organizers moved a few pieces to different locations. This is called Chess 960. The purpose of Chess960 (as outlined by its creator Bobby Fischer) is to remove any idea of opening theory. This leaves tactics, positioning, middlegames, and endgames, intact.
How often does Gary and Magnus play the chess 960? Do they have to practice up, adjust before hand? Is the strategy, to get the board to Norman play or try to control with the 960 position. Surprised Gary Kasparov got to the normal board ASAP. Unless Magnus has the advantage with 960 chess.
@@ianmills5237 Yeah maybe, but Morphy has Fischer beat in terms of short-term dominance over contemporaries, while Kasparov has him beat in terms of long-term dominance. Therefore, I feel like Fischer has to take third place behind these two.
