you right about learning to walk again, you have to imagine this is how you actualy walk in games, that its different than walking in real life,the more you use it the better it will feel

Definitely takes a bit of getting used to, but once you have it assembled and start to relearn how to walk on this thing it is a complete game changer... Oh and I've already dropped 10 lb! 😁 Once you get your's setup, let me know if you want to do some sort of a Katwalk colab. (≡)-)
@FitProVR The shoes actually have optical sensors that slot into the bottom so it doesn't work without them. One huge piece of advice I can give you is disregard the velcro placements in the setup guide as they will most likely just hold you back since you're not a novice user of VR. I actually added a bunch more loop velcro to the bottom of my shoes to make them even more slippery and this has greatly decreased the friction when I walk and has allowed me to increase my play times from 15 to 20 minutes all the way up to about an hour before I am exhausted.
Oh yeah.. loving Skyrim in this... Running from psycho hillbillies in RE7 last night though.. not so much! Funny thing is that in a horror game for the first time ever I actually got the flight sensation and found myself running away at full speed without even thinking about it.. was a cool moment of presence for sure!

I actually tried that omnidirectional treadmill for RPO at a conference years ago. It was absolutely terrible. Totally doesn’t work like in the film. This looks MUCH better. I kind of want one!
Same.. I tried the Infinideck at OC5 and was not impressed... This definitely takes some getting used to but seems to be a much more compact and viable solution... at least for now. Those omni directional floor tiles that Disney teased recently could be a complete game changer for VR locomotion and bring us one step closer to the Holodeck!
I’m a shameless fanboy for my Kat Walk. That said, I know it’s not a perfect 1:1 with IRL walking. So if there was only one thing that I could improve for the next generation Kat Walk… *backpedaling* Even after having mine for two years, backpedaling feels like my legs will slip out from under me. If there was a linemen style harness that strapped you from under the thighs and the backplate slider could be in a locked position, that would make backpedaling feel safe IMO. My subjective experience with playing games like Skyrim is that it’s make creepy/scary things much more terrifying for me. What I’m not sure about is, is that more of because I’m engaging my body more fully, so it’s it’s my fight or flight part of my brain harder; or that I’m wearing myself out, so I have less emotional bandwidth to not be freaked out by the Draugr and other creepy things. Both I’m sure play into it, but which makes the fear factor more of a thing for me, I’m not so sure. I think my favorite game to use my Kat Walk with is Brazen Blaze (still free in open beta). Using a Kat Walk to play Brazen Blaze turns into from being an esport, and into a sport **sport**. There’s a lot more I could say, but I’ll get off my soapbox for now. I’m sure jBahr, Nikita Fajitaa, and Wild Ivy (all Kat Walk steamers) would have takes about using the Kat Walk.
They fit well and are surprisingly not too uncomfortable. Since I'm a bigger guy and use them in real life I added a pair of good insoles and that helped with the comfort a lot! As for sizing there are typical sizes available but only 1/2 sized in a few of the ones offered. If you follow the link in the description of this video there should be a shoe sizing chart available on Kat's website.
@@vrgamerdude I figured out on mine the belt on the vertical was twisting when under tension. When I pushed backwards on the vertical. The belt twisted and slapped the other vertical beam. I used a soft Velcro tie around it about 6” down from the top. Stopped it.
