Just me talking about things I do and don't like between the Boss Katana Go and the Fender Mustang Micro Plus.. There is no audio comparison in this.. just me talking about them.

I would agree with you, the fender is a whole lot less work up front, you've got 3 times the preset space, more than double the factory presets and they've done a fairly decent job on matching up a lot of tone genres that people are likely to be quickly satisfied with... The BOSS one requires you to put in a lot more work if you're on your own. That said the BOSS does tie you into an absolutely HUGE collection of user and pro made Tones from the mki and mkii katana range which could get you a long way without actually tweaking. If you do enter the world of tweaking though, which seems to me much more the usual game with modelling platforms, from helix to head rush, axe FX to quad Cortex - you're kinda expected to jump in at the deep end of the pool. The Go here actually packs a huge punch ✊. The sessions feature has never really been my thing, but it does actually send the full audio through the modeller and headphones 🎧 likely you have not connected the iPad audio to Bluetooth to stream through. The stage effect would totally come to life if that has been done and it can be extremely immersive. BOSS could definitely learn a few interface design tricks from Fender, but conversely Fender would have a very hard time keeping such a clean and cool interface if they built a system that can do what the Go does. I think either will work just fine in the end. Where the fender totally lacks is footswitch or expression Pedal integration. You can get around the fender limits at the front of the chain, just add your own pedals, wah, volume pedals, pitch shifters if that is what you want. The tail end where the delays and reverbs come in well there you're kinda stuck. Hopefully fender will address that with at least a plate reverb and some generic means of changing patches by foot, if not then likely people will only use that amp purely for minor practice and move on up to their flagship modeller if it really answers the call. Time will tell how BOSS responds. They do have 2 other very good products in the market already for headphone amps - the waza air and the PGT. The editors on each have their own issues but I think even for a none tweaker, once you do know your way around it, the tweaking itself stops and you settle into your custom sounds . Well - some of us... Not me. 😂

Interesting input, and as an owner of both the MM+ and the BK Go (as well as a Tone Master Pro), I totally agree. One point I should add, though, is that there‘s a small-but-friendly FB group out there for the MM+, and there one person has mentioned that his simple iRig footswitch (Bluetooth, 2 switches) works well when paired to the same iOS device as the MM+, with no extra settings needed. He uses it to switch presets (!). How cool is that?! :-) I have the same iRig footswitch, as well as its bigger brother and some others, so will be testing things to see what footswitches might also work with the MM+. But for me, the ability to switch presets (up and down) is a huge thing, effectively making the MM+ stage-compatible for my solo acoustic/electric + vocals performances. My main thing is acoustic (about 70:30), and my audiences won‘t be missing any tonal quality if I use the MM+ for my Jazzmaster, which just adds some extra flavors (and increased playability) on certain songs. If this works out well, I‘ll get a 2nd MM+ with the same settings on it, just as a backup.

@@scottbecker3485 that's our group and whilst it did go up n down presets, it didn't select them, I think it needs a new combination of whatever that pedal sends in hid commands plus some sort of enter. I found another command that always jumps to preset 9. We need to get a Bluetooth keyboard ⌨️ to figure out HID combinations, programming a switch on airsteps takes way too long.

For the Katana Go session feature, if you have midi and audio bluetooth set up, you will have the backing track and your guitar through the audio output. I use it all the time, it sounds great. It could easily be used for live performance with good backing tracks and auto switch of presets at the appropriate time, eg solos, etc.

Interesting. Oh well I sold my Go and that isn't really a feature I'd use I guess. The spark has it too and I've never used it.
