This whole album (and side 2 of hounds of love) is a piece of art that in my opinion stands with anything produced in popular music. I love Tori for her live performance. But as a producer of creative soundscapes combined with her incredible vocal range and expression there has never been anyone like Kate.
I agree with you. Your comment is perfectly put. She really is an artist and she makes you feel her music. Creative soundscapes is exactly it. When I first heard “Sensual World” it summed her up for me. She paints a picture with sound.
She’s a goddess the queen of art pop. You are reviewing her a little back to front but why not! Moments Of Pleasure, Hello Earth or early tracks Kick Inside or Man With The Child In His Eyes, it’s all amazing.
I LOVE this Kate Bush album! It's her most esoteric, so it wasn't everyone's favorite. But I love it! You:re an artist. I expect that you'd love it too. This is an unexpected treat 🙂
Great reaction! Please continue with The Dreaming. This was inspired by her broken answering maching which only saved the final parts of all the messages (which are included in the song).
Saeed, you reminded me to listen closely to her lyrics. Sometimes with Kate Bush I get so caught up with the beauty of her unique sound. There’s something so ethereal and other worldly about her. The way she uses her head voice and upper register so purposefully and plays with the sound. Kate Bush is one of a kind and someone I get drawn back to time and again. Please add ‘The Man with The Child In His Eyes,’ ‘This Woman’s Work,’ and ‘Cloudbusting’ to your list if you can.
Thank You. Glad to see you on the Kate Bush journey. Please check out Night Of The Swallow, I think it perfectly shows off her voice. Stunning. Cheers.
I remember seeing an award show where Jonny Rotten of the Sex pistol's PRAISED HER for doing her music HER WAY / the way SHE wanted it done over the years... without apology and without giving in to the record industries calls for chart topping hits .
Music like no other. Indeed the creativity was flowing when she started producing her own music with her third album. Kate is known for her intricate melodies, but even more for her deep, poetic lyrics. On top of that she is theis wonderful storyteller. The refined melodies were mainly produced by the fretless bass. On this album I think the albumcloser Get Out Of My House is the ultimate showcase of her free and a independant spirit. She goes places no one would have guessed. Not by far. Some don't get it, though, but I trust you will, Saeed. I was surprised when you picked up 'Run For The Hills'. You are such a great listener and yourself a pleasure to listen to!
Thanks for taking the time to share this. Love artists who are not afraid to take risks and follow their creative instincts without fear. And thank you for watching and the kind words ❤️
Hi, you can try the track breathing, violin if you want something more rocky, or maybe Get out of my house if want to be scared. She’s so versatile! You’re in for a treat
You should react to the whole album it was first album she took complete artistic control byork said it was one of her favourite albums what influenced her she's magical
Eary Tune, i Love it so much. Yes i agree with you, shes so poetic Pull out the Pin,another brillant song on the Dreaming fest.Dave Gilmour in backing vocals A song about the Vietnam war out of perspective of a member of the vietkong . Shes a Genius
Kate's telephone answering machine started to malfunction. Eventually, it would only record the tail end of the messages that people left. It's a selection of those messages that you hear on this track. Choir boys' voice is used so beautifully as well. As you picked up, this is about regrets when people don't express their true feelings to friends and family often enough. "The Dreaming" is Kate's most experimental album, and it was the first one that she produced on her own. EMI were extremely angry when they got given a finished ablum that consumed a huge amount of studio time that they paid for and which didn't contain (in their opinion) a single commercial song. Some EMI executives wanted to reject the entire album, but then they realised that Kate would never go away to produce an album containing more chart friendly songs, this album is what she created, this is her work and she would defend it. I wouldn't recommend that you listen to the whole album quite yet as it's "out there" , however, if you like more experimental music, then go right ahead.
It's an album that Kate produced herself. It took a long time in the studio, and a lot of money from EMI. It had very mixed reviews, due to its departure from the commercial, and was the lowest selling Kate album. Single "There Goes a Tenner" was the only one of her releases not to get in to top 75 in the UK charts. In more recent years, though, its reputation has grown and appreciated for her letting her imagination and creativity run riot. It also saw a change going forward, as she built her own home studio where she could work at leisure and gestate "Hounds of Love".
@@isobeljames1328 True, though it was out of the charts within 10 weeks, whilst its predecessor went to No.1 and stayed in the top 75 charts for 23 weeks.
I agree with @user-df4bi1ff9b this entire album is a piece of art. I first hear this album in 1998 and I am excited that people are discovering it 40 years later… wow, 40 years really? The relationship between music and time is incredable
