I’ve never seen or heard this version……..where the hell have I been………it’s unbelievable! I’ve got goosebumps from the drums and bass ……….without even thinking of the unmistakable Dave and Kate.
The new industry does not require art to achieve max profits. No temperament, no rights to the living. The argument to breach, as Prince and Michael had. Just total bare leverage. And they will come.
@@nafvol5053 I disagree. Youngsters into rock music will come across Pink Floyd soon into their discovery of past legends. It’s not like Floyd was ever niche or “hidden.” On Spotify, for example, Pink Floyd has more monthly listeners than Hendrix and The Doors combined and is just under the Stones by a few million.
This is so 80s badass. Gilmour with his long hair, long black coat, and headless Steinberger guitar. Kate shaking her shoulders during the intro knowing that they are going to slay. The fantastic bass. Just perfect 80s.
Her demos were given to Gilmour through a mutual friend( Ricky Hopper publicist at Transatlantic record and friend with Kate's brother John)..... Gilmour invited her in his to record 3 with professionals musicians in his studio... Gilmour did a favor to a friend, he did not find or discover her.... And by the way Bush is responsible of her own success....
@@isobeljames1328 yes, and I was lucky enough to see Kate once in concert many years ago in London but not the recent one, she hasn’t done many live concerts, and I’m a huge fan. And of course a huge Floyd fan. I went to many secret police man’s balls as well but not this one which is so annoying! And I believe that EMI waited two years for her to develop her talent and release her first album. You wouldn’t get that now.
Not everybody knows that David Gilmour discovered Kate Bush when she was like 15 years old and promoted her talent and helped to get her career launched. Two legends
@@demah8655 Yes, Stuart Elliott played along with a Linn Drum Machine programmed by Kate's then-boyfriend (and now sadly deceased) Del Palmer, who also played bass on the original track.
He discovered her and helped her get her big break. I believe the way Kate's smiling that she really felt close to David and appreciative of his help. Long live, Kate. Love her so much.
Kate Bush - Vocals David Gilmour - Guitar, Vocals Tony Franklin - Bass, Vocals Stuart Elliot - Drums Kevin McAlea - Keyboards Fun fact, Kevin McAlea wrote the English lyrics to Nena's 99 Luftballons..
Kate doing a live performance is as rare as Mercury, Venus, Mars, Earth, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Jupiter and Pluto lining up together. But to perform live WITH David Gilmour..... a heavenly miracle.
Well, Gilmour did discover her when she was 13 and helped her break into the music business. They've been good friends for a long time. You can tell there's a lot of trust there on stage.
@@seyfert12345 yes you are right. And I said it would be as rare as that, but i did not say it would be impossible.... 😁. Kate is now number one around the globe with RUTH. An even rare occurance, I would think.
Ça fait plaisir de revoir et de réécouter ces pointures en ces temps médiocres ! On soulignera le jeu de basse absolument exceptionnel derrière tout cela :o)
Kate looks like she's not so sure about this at the start but by the end she's having a blast. The band is just crushing it! Tony Franklin is the MVP here. You'd swear there were two bass players at times.
that just goes to show how great david gilmour is. he just makes everyone around him better. if pink floyd had joe somethington on guitars, after syd left, it wouldn't have made it
Same - I always wrote her off because of that high voice and some of her avant garde videos. One day I saw the Dream of Sheep video because it was in my suggested videos, and it changed my entire perspective. Now I see the genius in her music.
I would like to thank all those who came to make this song so great. Kate Bush on vocals , David Gilmore a true legend together made this a timeless classic. My grandson who is 9 knows this song because of Stranger things and was surprised that I knew it..
There is good rule: if you see on stage with David Gilmour some person you don't know, try to find out who it is. Chances are you'll discover one more legendary musician with hours of good music to listen.
I think, you must have been a legend too, to be on the stage with David Gilmore. Kate is underestimated, but I can assure you, she did a lot in the 80ies - outside of every box.
Kate Bush performs so little that I swear a part of me forgets she's a real person as opposed to some sort of pop mythological figure until I watch videos like this. Honestly how is it possible for one woman to evoke such massive amounts of emotion with just her voice?
Such an amazing performance. It had me in tears to see such a powerhouse of chemistry. I wish this group of amazing individuals would have done more together
Man that was incredible I have to say I like this version more than the original how lucky were they to play with each other it's emotional and it just blew me away
I've been a Kate Bush fan since the early eigthies. Ron Roberts and Nightlines out of Canada on the weekends. Didn't know this song could be such a baddass rocker.
I love this interpretation. The lead guitar replacing the synthesized "violin", the rapid base is frickin awesome, and the male back up vocals is a nice change from the female backups on the track. Of course, Kate Bush absolutely crushes it.
Dead on, damn straight. Would have been a cool side project for Kate. I'd love to hear them do some Dark Side of the Moon and even some The Wall stuff with Kate on vocals. Ahh, what could have been.
@@danbrockettDOP Not only that but in reality it probably could of benefitted Gilmour in the long run as Waters had already left Pink Floyd & this was done during the A Momentary Lapse of Reason period which unfortunately wasn’t a favorite among fans (Personally the album is alright to me). Gilmour could of postponed Pink Floyd in favor of the supergroup and the rest could of been history.
I saw Kate Bush on SNL when I was 16 years old. My dad didn’t like her but I did. I’m 60 now and I still love her & her music. This video I could watch 1000 times a day. Im so glad she is getting the recognition that she deserves❤️
Don't forget the pianist and the drummer they all went all killed it and fun fact the drummer is a good friend of Kate Bush they had worked on one of her first albums
The Bassist and the Drummer are obvious talents, because they make it breathe with the life Kate's Music deserves. Thanks to Gilmour for making sure our world didn't miss her vision.
Right there with you. I drop by for a listen every now again and end up having it on repeat for a couple of hours. I was 10 when it was originally released as a single and it was the first time I'd heard anything by Kate Bush. It sounded like nothing else in the charts at that time and immediately grabbed you, but this live version is just astonishingly good and the credit must go to DG for having the vision to make it happen.
Tony Frankilin is a bit of an unsung hero on this video. Superb bass playing and he even managed to keep that strange thing on his head from falling off.
I discovered Kate Bush through the Hounds of Love album when I was 11 in 1984. It was the year my father died suddenly and Cloudbusting helped me through. Seeing Kate play live at the Hammersmith Apollo in 2014 from the middle of the 4th row was so emotional. I thought she wouldn't play Cloudbusting when the concert ended ..but she came back and sung it for the encore...an experience I will never forget. Hounds of Love was released in the days well before Spotify when we would listen to whole albums. I always imagined the story she was telling on the Hounds of Love from start to finish and her live performance was exactly how I imagined - "And Dream of Sheep" was so powerful - in fact, many powerful moments in that show that I will always feel privileged to have experienced. Kate's music got me through the toughest time of my life and will always be in my heart
I am so happy you got to see her live - especially with the encore of Cloudbusting. I've got the Before the Dawn concert on CD. Love how she shows appreciation for the crowd - giving her a standing ovation. She knows she's there for them - class act.
Patrick She didn't play often with Dave, but Stuart Elliott had been her drummer since 1978. Edit: August '77 actually, when the first album was recorded. Then all albums up to and including "Aerial" 2005.
Only David Gilmore could get her to actually perform live instead of lip syncing performances due to her fear of performing live. She was amazing and David's guitar playing was bad ass! He also did backing vocals on pull out the pin from the Dreaming and other things on other albums. Thank you David for finding one of my favorite artist of all time and seeing what kind of talent she has!
her band's got her back , I saw every glance and smile, so awesome...and she knows it, those guys are family! ! I love it all about this song and video !!!
This song has been my ringtone for a long time now I love it! It's so nice to hear a singer who actually sounds the same as the recordings of their voice ❤ I wish I had grown up back then 😢
My one and only trip to London was the weekend of this concert. My friend and I bought scalped balcony tickets the day of the show. Loved every minute!
My daughter asked me if I had ever heard this song....I went and pulled out my Kate Bush cd I bought in the late 80's and she tripped out. Glad the youth are discovering the great ol jams....even if it's through a tv series.
David Gilmour (of Pink Floyd) discovered Kate when she was 15 and helped get her first few songs produced and got her hooked up with her record company.
He's Stuart Elliott, he played with many classic British artists including Paul McCartney, Al Stewart, The Alan Parsons Project, Roger Daltrey (from The Who)
I was just watching the music video from The Firm, Satisfaction Guaranteed. Guess who’s playing the bass? WTF it’s him!!! Tony! That blew my mind because I only know him from this particular video. I watched the video where he talks about the ‘hairstylist’ comment. Seems like a cool guy.
oh god, this version is incredible! the whole band brings magic on this one. you can see on their faces that they can feel something special is happening.
Late to the party but this is quickly becoming my go to video for this song which has been haunting me for the past few days. It was off my radar for so many years, and now it's doing the equivalent of crashing on my couch and eating all my snacks.
