One of my all time favourites. I remember playing this album as a 17 year old living over the butchers shop in Liverpool with my now wife when she was pregnant with our first child. 1982 and although we had nothing it was an incredibly magical time. We were at our poorest but we were happy. So many memories come to life with this song of friends and family who have passed away. The amazing Kate Bush! We called our 2nd daughter Kashka ☺️
Seriously, if you don't fall in love with Kate Bush, you're not a man. She's so pure, so exquisite, a princess from an outer world who came down on earth to woo us, mere mortals.
Kate Bush is the only Western pop artist I know where you could go to an Asian restaurant in the late 1970s early 1980s and feel totally comfortable with songs like this.
It speaks volumes that this live version is very best and IMO superior to studio versions. So so so good. So accomplished. That tone. The theatrics. Just perfect. The consumate performer.
@@billrobertjoe It was called a Recording in those days and it was not really part of a song, just an intro to the show really. I did the stage sound engineering for her on this tour.👍🇬🇧
Kate is amazing and a wonderful person to work with. I did the stage sound engineering on this tour, all those years ago, and developed the headset microphone for her. It was an absolute pleasure👍🇬🇧
@@29memyselfandi ...Yes, the first prototype I made using a coat hanger wire, the old fashioned thick type. It had metallurgical properties ideal for this application, I used them for all kinds of things and they're very tough. It was decided that thinner wire was slightly less visible for the Tour, but the weight of that little Sony lavelier microphone would bend it downloads a little during each performance, unlike the coat hanger. I'd bend it upwards before each song so it was just above Kate's mouth staying in decent audio range. ✌🇬🇧
@@okgo8315 That’s really interesting mate. It’s a little piece of music history you were involved with. I’ve heard her talk about it in interviews a few times. Good stuff.
She is absolutely the rarest Byrd that ever performed. Her intensity is unmatched by any female artist. Kate's emotion is woven into the fabric of her voice, music and movement
I first heard her album "The Dreaming"... I was hooked ! I started to listen back other work and I it was going better and better. Now in 2023 I heard my share of music, but Kate still remains lonely at the top ! Moving is my favorite song ! Enjoy!
Kate bush is the one and only, no compare ... I'm growing old but this song still remind in my mind as the first time I heard it in 1980s ... keep ... moving ...
Siren, in Greek mythology, a creature half bird and half woman who lured sailors to destruction by the sweetness of her song. Its Kate Bush who could lure me to my destruction and I'd go with a smile on my face.
I was there at this concert, went to the exhibition pub across the road first for a beer or two. i was 17 years old at the time , yes i looked old enough . i went into the auditorium sat down and waited, then it started it was a fantastic concert from the start until the finish , Daffadils thrown into the crowd at the end. Magical. Didnt realise it would be such an iconic gig. feel so lucky. unfortunately i didnt manage to get tickets for the latest concert. oh i tried .
I was blessed as I saw both the recent Before The Dawn concert, and the 1979 Tour Of Life concert (twice, in fact), for me, and this is personal, the 79 tour was my favourite. Bless you Kate 'touch me, hold me. How my open arms ache' x
Tbh, I had no interest in attending the latest concert - yeah, I'm alone in that. I feel Kate's best years were the earliest, before synths and visuals took over.
It's the way her voice opens up and narrows again at the exact right time. Although there are many singers out there who have the range Kate Bush has, I have never seen one sing with such soul and character.
Range and vocal talent thrown completely aside, the way she chooses to use her voice is amazing. It just makes the poetry hit you how it should. I like that she sang some pretty serious and heavy subjects too. I can't imagine anyone else who could do the same. I love that she is so private and reserved. I believe she was the most photographed woman in 1985 or thereabouts. It's rare for someone to be so big yet achieve relative peace
How are they her live vocals? With all the movement around the stage as well? Unreal. I wish she'd done live performances and toured around Hounds Of Love/Sensual World period. Imagine the setlist and what she'd do with the performances. It would have been absolutely mind-blowing.
A magnificent song and a perfect and emotional interpretation. She carried on stage the magic of the studio, adding her superb choreography. Mind blowing! Shame for us that she toured so seldom!
She sings from another time & place...A glimpse from a very distant future, where& when humanity matured mentally. She gives me hope that we'll be saved from ourselves...
Aski Tatar " From a galaxy far, far away." Star Wars soundtrack composer John Williams plays guitar on "The Morning Fog" off her album "Hounds Of Love" 1985.
Kate is amazing and a wonderful person to work with. I did the stage sound engineering on this tour, all those years ago, and developed the headset microphone for her. Only the first prototype I made from a wire coathanger and it was spot on, but they wanted a thinner less visible wire frame. It would bend downwards during a song so I had to bend it up a little b4 each song so it stayed in 'range'.👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
@@okgo8315 OH MY GOD - YOU ARE EPIC! THANK YOU FOR SHARING = YES I AM SHOUTING = MY WIFE AND I ARE SOOO STOKED YOU REPLIED! You changed THE WORLD with this! It is bitchin' to hear from the technical people that brought so much joy for so many!
@@LEPERCOLONY1 = You are so kind... thanks. Yes it did change live performances and many other applications for ever. I considered a patent but it was just a small high quality Sony microphone and a small transmitter on a wire frame so easily copied without infringing patents. A lot of artists wanted one so a few were made, for Phil Collins and others. All good fun too.👍🇬🇧
She is so ethereal in this, it's a combination of her voice and the blue colours of her costume and the stage lighting, and just the song itself. At about 1:05 to 1:09 when she looks up, she is so achingly beautiful, she is mesmerizing. I'm working on singing her songs combined with the dance movements, but I don't think I can hit that range anymore. Anyway, gonna keep plugging away at it, surely something will come of it.
I may be a year late, but I hope you were able to hit the range and learn her choreography. She is truly ethereal, and I hope you were able to embody pure Bush energy in your efforts 💚
@@romane9666 Thanks for your support. Just saw this. Well, here's what I've learned so far, some days I can hit the range better than others. It's getting more difficult. That "soul" part is _really_ high. Also, I can get in the range, but I do not have Kate's voice, there is a different tone to hers, a certain richness and yet sometimes it's thin. I did the video once and then decided to start over, in the second version, I went once in the wrong direction but the idea is to be "in keeping" with the choreo. The other thing is I wish I could look like her to be more authentic, but I just don't, unless I had a team of professional make-up artists I suppose, I just work with what I've got. Mostly, I just have fun doing it. See for yourself. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AxW325AzxFo.html&ab_channel=Bluevioletmoon
I remember that ´Wuthering heights ´was a hit at that time. I bought the LP and waoohhh this opening with ´moving ´ and the whales ´ scream. It was surreal !
As we found out now, with the Netflix series "Stranger things', she alsways was 45 years before her time. Good thing, people are it, while the artist is still alive. With every song she tells a complete story, like Wuthering Heights, or any other song.
Moving stranger, does it really matter? As long as you're not afraid to feel Touch me, hold me, how my open arms ache Try to fall for me How I'm moved, how you move me With your beauty's potency You give me life, please don't let me go You crush the lilly in my soul Moving liquid, yes, you are just as water You flow around all that comes in your way Don't think it over, it always takes you over And sets your spirits dancing How I'm moved, how you move me With your beauty's potency You give me life, please don't let me go You give me life, please don't let me go Oh, you give me life, please don't let me go You crush the lily in my soul (la-la-la-la-li-ly) Soul (la-la-la-la-li-ly) Soul (la-la-la-la-li-ly)
Before watching this video, I couldn't conceive a better version of Kate Bush's Moving. And yet there is: Kate Bush's Moving performed on stage by Kate herself. Thanks for this gem.
Yes! He @okgo8315actually replied to me via email and what a cool experience - they changed the whole dynamic of live performance, giving such freedom to the artist! @@Aerialgrrl
