Nov 3rd 2023 - Kate Bush gets inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame #KateBush #FishPeople #RRHOF #rockandrollhalloffame #BigBoi #stvincent performs: #RunningUpThatHill
Greatest gig I ever saw, it's a strange feeling being in an audience and feeling grateful for the opportunity to see an artist. Only Kate Bush can do that.
I don't think it's going to happen. If it ever was, I think she would have showed for this award. Through closest any of us could come is to be able to see "Cloudbusting". And in the absence of Kate performing , Cloudbusting is a much needed band. It allows fans an opportunity to gather and share the music.
I think she's super shy and reluctant to perform and I don't blame her in this day and age. She left the spotlight to become a mum, which I respect and says volumes to herself as an artist. Hopefully, the resurgence of her popularity will encourage her to do something, even if it was a recording of poetry or lyrics she's written - doesn't need to be a blockbuster project. @@nekoti.8-2
I'm so proud to have a fellow Georgian, in his Atlanta Falcons cap, induct Kate Bush. I saw her on SNL in 1978. In 1984, I bought a VCR because my brother told me they had a " Kate Bush on Stage" video at the tape shop. That was the first VHS tape I bought ( $79!) . I've followed her career since then, and she's my favorite musical artist( besides my sister and brother)
Yeah but you could tell even his admiration for KB is rather strained by the words. "Hey Kate, the song is done, three versions, pick one". They recorded (unbelievably) a duet a few years ago and she's holding back from ever releasing it just like with the Before The Dawn video. She really does test the patience of her public.
We share a somewhat common introduction to Kate Bush, just off by a few years and a couple of States away! :) I feel so fortunate for having discovered her at such an early stage in her career and when I was in my teens. I can say, she’s been my greatest inspiration! ❤
@iwasanangryyoungman She was 19. Eric Idle was the host and he talked her into it. She sang " The Man with the Child in His Eyes" while sitting on Paul Schaffer 's piano. Paul played for her.
Congratulations to you Kate Bush. I grew up listening to Wuthering Heights. I have her CD The Whole Story. But her duet with Peter Gabriel called Don't Give Up. It helped me not to give up nor commit suicide. Her voice is like a fairy tale.
Yes kates voice has helped me too and I guess so many others without dont give up ..where would we be ?? X the Artist Kate Bush . ❤ we love your endearingly
In case you're watching this and are confused, it's because they skipped over one of her best albums: (1993) THE RED SHOES. so-she didn't 'disappear' in 1993, she had a whole new record out at that time.
Between Big Boi's beautiful induction of Kate Bush and Andre 3000's newly dropped masterpiece im convinced that only these two dudes can heal our nation.
Very nice tribute. Well done Big Boi. It would have been great if Maxwell would have also sung this woman's work during the tribute. Congratulations, Kate Bush!!
Thank you for uploading the full tribute. I think they did a nice job with honoring Kate and she deserves it completely. The speech was great. I think St Vincent gave a very nice performance and the band as well in what is a very difficult task to create an arrangement that matches Kate’s amazing song. Congratulations Kate!
I hope you are right. She has not expressed much interest theses days. She is raising her son and gardening. Maybe her old friend PG can inspire her with his new amazing release I/O.
Thank you for uploading the full Kate tribute! I thought it was lovely. Big Boi's speech was amazing, the struggle at the end because of the teleprompter was funny and I think Kate laughed too. The montage was close to perfect, I would've added some more things but I thought it was well made. I actually liked St. Vincent's cover, maybe nerves made her struggle with the vocals but it was full of emotion. Another song may have fit her better though, like Babooshka maybe? I wish Kate got more than one cover, she has so many more (and in my opinion, better) songs than RUTH, so that's the only disappointment really.
As all people, Kate Bush is one a kind. And so exceptional! I love all her work, the melody lines, so unique! It is great there is a revival however for me it never stopped. I can't say what is her best, although unique it is not wuthering heights! It has been such an interesting musical journey to follow, with Aerial as a bonus and 50 words for snow as a big surprise. It is not pop and it is no back ground music, but if you have time to listen (loud) it is amazing and incredibly compelling, at least for me. so in my view a deserved recognition
To bad she is scared to fly. I would love to see her live. I was introduced to her in College around 1981. I have loved her and bought every album of hers since.
❤kate bush multi talented beautiful artist who choosed her own path against all pressure and expectations, just made unforgettable music. Such an amazing artist, one of the greatest❤thank you for the music Kate Bush still listen a lot of your songs and remember your beautiful performances🎉
No she didn't. Not only did she not turn up, she didn't send a video message, she didn't even phone in a voice message, she didn't even bother to text a quick "thanks Kx", NOTHING, NOTHING at all. She should have the "award" rescinded.
I went there. paid high price for a ticket. (a drink is $17 there btw) Barclays is an awful venue. long trip to get there and painful trip home late at night and NADA@@crashcris
Big Boi did a great job. You almost wouldn't know he has a southern accent until he pronounces the word "Hill" then he pronouns it with a lot more than the 4 letters he says it like Hiiiiiiillllllll.
Nice collection of clips! And such good quality. Why can't we have an "Anthology" on DVD of Kate's promo videos and TV performances? There's too much good stuff to leave it only to the bootleggers.
Kate Bush ist eine sagenhafte Sängerin und Frau. Sie ist einfach fabelhaft. Schade das ich Sie nie live gesehen habe. Höre Ihre Musik gerne beim Auto fahren.
I think KB is too important for this average induction. I am too old i think as I dont know both artists singing or intro but I did see Kate twice in 1979 live and think her work is very special. I wasnt excited with that live performance at all. Kate was probably at home thinking nice to be inducted but ummm kind of right decision not to get involved....back to my gardening 😂❤
Yeah that would have made so much more sense. Elton performed on her album, he said Don't Give Up saved his life, he means a lot to her. It would have been great to see Elton John , an icon himself who's been around for decades, induct another timeless icon - Kate Bush. I have nothing against Big Boi personally but I don't even know who he is other than a Kate fan.
Big Boi has been loud and vocal about his admiration for Kate Bush for decades. His artistry is informed by her work - the alignment is there. Not so much with EJ
She got in on her fourth nomination. She was nominated three times before Stranger Things. The resurgence happened literally the same month she got snubbed by the rock hall.
this was so bad compared to the rest of the inductees. Why did the rock hall do this? big boi I understand he loves her but why was her tribute so short?
I don't have Disney+ so cannot see the whole program, but I'm guessing it's because she bowed out of the ceremony which comes with an opportunity to perform live. I'm happy that she was inducted in the first place, she's a genius and completely unique. The U.S. slept on Kate Bush during her heyday.
Others have not performed and still got more than one song. I think black Sabbath didn't perform even though they came to the ceremony. not 100% sure though
Not the only one, she couldn’t keep up with the pacing. Just not the right voice for this song. Perhaps nerves, since she likes Kate so much? Has to be daunting to perform for that audience in particular
@@heartofhope77 you're right. She was behind the beat. Very stiff performance. She was struggling vocally. Not adding accents where they were needed and power. It seemed the band was playing to the original arrangement . But, St. Vincent was singing it like a ballad and in that tempo. Way off.
I feel a bit sorry for St Vincent here. Her band clearly rehearsed well and even the visuals are very Kate. She idolises Kate and is her hero. She looks really nervous. Secondly there are not many who could cover Kate successfully as she is light years ahead of most and is so unique it becomes very difficult to cover unless you completely change the sound of the tune and cover it in a different way. Here is an acclaimed artist in her own right trying to be Kate and sounding miles off. In a way it's the greatest tribute you could give because it becomes even more clear how ahead of nearly everybody Kate was.
Kate was never truly appreciated in America like she was in Europe. Her music was over the heads of Americans. It was sophisticated, mystical and artsy. Americans unfortunately, like their music like they way they like McDonalds.....fast and cheap. Kate is too good for the USA. She is far above and beyond anything to do with the music scene in the states.
I am an American & love her. I respect that she does not fly but I think that is part of why she does not have the fame here-no touring or even press conferences.
Who are you talking about? I’m from Detroit, Michigan, U.S. and have been a rabid lover of her music since I saw her on tv, by chance, in 1979. You do know that she has only sung live in the U.S. once, right? In 1979, 2 songs. That’s it. You do realize she was in control of her career pretty much from the start of it? She NEVER promoted herself in this country by “playing the game,” and, subsequently, she was not played on popular radio and television, so people did not hear and see her enough to get to know her. Do you know how hard it was to find and purchase a Kate Bush album in “Middle America” back in 1978? SOME “Americans” in big offices and smoking cigars didn’t know what to make of or do with her; she was fine with that; and, consequently, only SOME “Americans” got to appreciate and come to love her work. Geez.
I love Kate Bush, well deserved.. but. Let's not forget Ozzy Osbourne (wow the prince of darkness not in the HOF) Boston, Alice in Chains, Gregg Allman, Bryan Adams, America, Anthrax, Argent, BTO, Bad Company, Bad Finger, Black Crowes, Blue Cheer, Blind Faith, BOC, Bon Jovi, Joe Cocker, Phil Collins, CSN&Y, Dio, Devo, ELP, Foreigner, Grand Funk, Iron Maiden, Kansas, Jethro Tull..... and I could go on and on. The Rock HOF is a smoke añd mirrors amusement ride
I am over the age of the demographic for St Vincent or CHVCHES, but, are they well known in the USA? I thought this was a very poor performance. When I saw Sia was included in the show I assumed she was going to also sing a Kate Bush song. This is such a perplexing choice.
I have been voting for Kate since she's been nominated. However The year she actually got inducted I didn't vote once. Lol! The fact that the RARHOF considers Ted nugents contributions to culture more important than the work of Tori Amos makes me sad. Don't sleep on her.
She wants to be left alone. Her work should be enough. She's never attended these things. She doesn't like to do public stuff, or even interviews anymore. Hasn't done any of it in decades. She's an artist, a genuine one, not a show business person. She's never cared for that side of it. She just wants to do music and be left alone.
Of course she didnt, there is no way. She doesnt do anything in public, I mean the last time she was even interviewed face to face was I think in 1993.
@nicksunfortune5718 It got her back in the limelight, but Kate's work had been lauded by artists such as Elton John, Prince, Jimmy Page, Dave Gilmour, Paul McCartney, Peter Gabriel, Madonna, Lindsay Buckingham for decades. Long before "Running Up That Hill" was even written.
Are you new to Kate Bush? The last time she did a face to face interview was in the 90's! She doesnt do interviews let alone anything she hates being famous.
