Introduced by Peter Cook. There are other versions on YT but here I've tried to improve sound and colour. Look out for Billy Idol and clips from 'The Prisoner'
Give a top-notch singer - that sings fun tunes - an audience that appreciates some of the best stuff in the universe - you get magic. Kate shined like a star, and the audience was alive - unlike the aforementioned SNL audience below. It took decades - but America is finally waking up to brilliance.
Where did Kate come from..and where r the genesis of her songs from???? Once in a generation just isn't enough.....but beggars can't be choosers......42 years later....and none of that wonderment is lost...and you actually do realise her importance in your life is greater than ever
Rolling the ball (rolling) Rolling the ball (rolling) Rolling the ball to me Rolling the ball (rolling) Rolling the ball (rolling) Rolling the ball (rolling) to me They arrived at an inconvenient time I was hiding in a room in my mind They made me look at myself I saw it well I'd shut the people out of my life So now I take the opportunities Wonderful teachers ready to teach me I must work on my mind For now I realize Everyone of us has a heaven inside Them heavy people hit me in a soft spot Them heavy people help me Them heavy people hit me in a soft spot Rolling the ball (rolling) Rolling the ball (rolling) Rolling the ball to me Rolling the ball (rolling) Rolling the ball (rolling) Rolling the ball to me They open doorways that I thought were shut for good They read me Gurdjieff and Jesu They build up my body Break me emotionally It's nearly killing me but what a lovely feeling I love the whirling of the dervishes I love the beauty of rare innocence You don't need no crystal ball Don't fall for a magic wand We humans got it all, we perform the miracles Them heavy people hit me in a soft spot Them heavy people help me Them heavy people hit me in a soft spot Rolling the, rolling the, rolling the, rolling the... Them heavy people hit me in a soft spot Them heavy people help me Them heavy people hit me in a soft spot. Rolling the, rolling the, rolling the, rolling the... Them heavy people hit me in a soft spot Them heavy people help me Them heavy people hit me in a soft spot Rolling the, rolling the, rolling the, rolling the... Them heavy people hit me in a soft spot Them heavy people help me
Nope, other way round. You sang live as Union rules stated that songs must be live with live musicians ie orchestra if needed, yes lip synched came in a bit but instruments mainly live. The 90s brought in more mimed with MTV & unions broken.
@@simonmoore2380 depends on the era. In the 70s the important thing is the backing track had to be re-recorded with the musicians union staff, you couldn’t use your existing music. You could then either sing live to that or mime to vocals you recorded at the same time as the new music. When top of the pops finally got rid of the orchestra the staff all went on strike for a few weeks.
EXCELLENT....Why doesn't Kate release a three DVD set of all her t.v. performances etc??? For that matter, why not release huge box sets for each of the albums (one box set per album) of the quality of the Zeppelin boxes (or Kinks Village Green Super Deluxe)??? I would kill for any of those things as many others would and there would be substantial economic gain. I adore Kate Bush and her music. So.............................................
Such a clever song, I used to sing "rollin' the ball, rollin' the ball...." with my friends;) I am so glad my very first vocal coach introduced me to the music of Kate Bush!!
Love how she got the whole room moving toward the end of the song. I remember the first time I heard a Kate Bush song and feeling I needed to be a part of that tribe.
I love how this is filmed. It's like from every possible point of view you would get at various real different stages of drunk. It feels like you're almost there !
Kate Bush is totally amazing and led the way for Chrissie Hynde Tori Amos even Madonna theater amazing theater combined with music the way she uses her eyes it's scary it's sad it's happy it's amused in Surprise she really led the way for all those other lady she was the first
Truly a masterpiece. I'd encourage anyone that can't get into it to check out (or revisit) 'Before the Dawn' and experience those songs in that live context. So powerful.
In minute 2: 12 that boy looks like a teenage Noel Gallagher dancing sensually 😂😂 I understand that some punks like Billy Idol or John Lydon loved and respected Kate Bush, so much more she is one of my favorite singers of all time
Peter Cook's comedy hardly did much for me hud rambling introduction is self evident with exception to work he done with Dudley Moore...Kate Bush so fun, professional and memorable experience, those in audience was given a solid treat to her musical greatness
2:08 Look how cute she is! 😍 also I’m legit like that guy right there with his hands in his jeans dancing also doesn’t he look like the lead singer from green day? 2:46 Now that is the most cutest also sexiest smile ive ever seen from the most gorgeous lady to ever live, hope she’s living well and still doing fab 1:31 quality dancing right there
When was this recorded? She looks older than she was when this song came out, and without the dancers, etc. This is really live! Thanks for posting it.
@Joel Adamson. She looks older indeed like, let's say in 1985. Maybe the suit she was wearing during the performance made her look older. She wore such suits during the promotion of "The Dreaming" and later in her career (for example in the live (?) version of "This woman's work". 🤔🙂
Yeah sadly these TV recordings are often discovered in bad condition due to neglect or lack of knowledge from an owner of the contents of the tapes. Tape wears overtime anyways no matter how well you look after it.
I spotted it too, the original video is steeped in the hidden symbolisms, that’s why I’m looking at all others versions of this. Really don’t want it to be so, hoping not, as I do love her.
