I had to stop driving when Niko told Kate about Roman's mother getting raped and murdered. That was one of the most shocking moments of the game for me. Feel bad for all the gamers who missed out on that convo. Gave extra depth to Niko's life in Yugoslavia

I wish Kate was in the main story more. Her death only affected you if you did the dates with her, she was useful in revealing more of Niko's backstory and challenging his ideals.

This game changed all my perceptions of gaming, previously I never gave a crap to story but my god this tragic tale of finding the American Dream was the astounding.

God Niko talking about how Roman's mother really died is so heartbreaking. It's really kind of him to tell Roman something else. Letting his cousin keep the innocence of his mind while he knows such nightmarish things. GTA 5 looks like a sloppily composed haiku compared to the writing of 4...

Fuk niko got friendzoned.

I liked Kate. She was a change for most female secondary characters in GTA. And her voice actor not to be weird but she sounds attractive as hell. I liked her too because though she disagreed with how Niko lives and her brothers she still cares for them. And shows you can disagree and challenge someone's views without hate/being childish and dramatic. She accepted other's own directions even if she didn't agree to it. And the only time she expected Niko to give it up was when she was going to become a serious part of his life. So she'd not end how she did. Nor him.

I find it hilarious how Niko brushes off other people's problems (Kiki, Dwayne etc.) but he appears to genuinely care for Kate's problems.

I always liked Niko and Katie, they were a great couple. Also, it seems like the canon relationship in the game. And the revenge ending also makes more sense.

Nico is such a great character. You can literally feel his pain. There was no such well developed character in GTA series before and after

I played where she dies but if she lives do the dates just repeat i wish that this game had like a secret ending where Niko gave up crime and they moved to like vice city or something cuz i usually don't care about romance in games but this relationship really got me and i was actual really sad when she died

I never really appreciated any of GTA IV conversations. Mostly because I was really young when I played it. Watching this video though, wow, I never knew the conversations between Kate and Niko went to really deep places. Now that I've grown up a bit and lived a little more in this fucked up world... I understand them and gotta say... this video is pretty amazing. Thanks for putting in the effort to put these together in a video. Oh and it's too bad Kate and Niko can't be together. I think they could've worked out as a couple just fine.

Simple : Kate dies, but at her last moments, she loved Niko and he has his cousin Roman and his friends to support him, while in the Deal ending...Niko lost everything he has : Roman, dead and Kate, who dumped him...

Niko hardly ever opened up about his life and he did it so effortlessly with Kate. Really sucks that they couldn't be together in the end.

I hate how much hate Kate gets. She's not perfect by any means and maybe could have been written better, but I love that she's so atypical as a love interest. She's not the perfect, idealized woman; she has flaws and is dealing with trauma just like Niko. I personally don't think they ever would have worked out for long as a couple, but I find their relationship fascinating, and Kate to be an interesting character.

i think the fact that kate knew that her brothers were getting molested is absolutely heartbreaking. you can tell how much the guilt of her not being able to do anything was tearing her up.

Kate is such a tragic character, her family is fucked up, her father died and did bad things to her family, her ma is old and weak, her brothers are criminals, Gerry ended up in jail, Derrick is a heroin addict and alcoholic, Packie robbing and shooting people, Francis is a crook cop, either Francis or Derrick got killed, how can you be happy with all that shit happened in your family? she deserves better, i don't want to see Kate die but i don't want to see Roman die either, and for me revenge ending is canon, it's really sad to see her getting shot in the day she actually see Niko as her boyfriend.... call me soft, but the moment Kate die was the first time i cried while playing game, rip Katie

I had 2 instances of Kate calling Niko after she was killed at Roman's wedding

I can see Kate being a symbol of hope for Niko, all his life it has never been easy for him nor good to him, he comes from if not one of the toughest countries but the hardest part of a country that is made for broken or strong individuals who will do anything to survive. He had an abusive father just like Kate’s father was believed to be abusive to her brothers, He grew up with people in his village and got close to them all but when he lost them in the war it deeply affected him. He got involved with people who use violence and brutality against anyone in their way so this is something that Niko is comfortable with but also is trying to get away from the violence. Kate is the best thing to ever happen to Niko she doesn't agree with the killing and violent crimes she's heavily against it so she is the type that will bring him out of the darkness.

FYI for people that wants to know, if Kate dies, she still sometimes show up as a unknown caller and go on multiple dates when u complete the game... but there is no way to call her back.

I've always loved the multicultural in GTA IV. Lets just imagine a happy ending, where Niko (Serbian) marries Kate (Irish), his cousin Roman (also Serbian) marries Mallorie Bardas (a Puerto Rican girl). Niko's best friends are Packie (also Irish), Brucie (american), Dwayne (afro-american), Bernie (another Serbian), Little Jacob and Badman (from Jamaica). They all live in Liberty City, they speak english and also they're main language sometimes. It would be cool if Niko could get her mother to LC to meet the family and spend her years living a better life than in Serbia where they were so poor..

I like Kate the most out of all. So sad she died.

God, I hadn't listened to these Kate conversations in a long while (I've mostly been occupied with Packie) and I had to stop there. Just knowing that their father sexually abused Gerry and Packie, if not Derrick and Francis as well. It makes me so physically sick. Kate's guilt about being quiet, but somehow at the age of 28 still pretending that their father was a good man has to be the whole reason for her having been in therapy. This poor fucking family.

Kate has more personality than other GTA protagonists’ girlfriends

It’s so weird how different you’re dialogue was with Kate driving to the wedding. When I drove there, she had a much more platonic conversation with Niko and seemed honored to be invited. I guess it depends how you treat her when going on dates. I mainly stuck to taking her on dinner dates and shooting pool with her.

I know a lot of people disliked Kate, but I kind of liked her. I could sympathize with her Catholic guilt complex and honestly, I thought she and Niko would make a cute couple. All the other girlfriends were just as irritating with none of the character development.

Its really cool getting to know the ins and outs of gta iv like this, all the little details you make videos about. Great videos man. Btw, the mcreary's were my favourite characters in gta iv, they were all so cool, wish they were in more of the game.

I've never had the Kate glitch... But Niko, you should tell the truth to Roman about his mother, it must be painful to Roman that his house burned down, and that's the way in which his mum died, maybe it reminded him of her. =/

My gta 4 days consisted entirely of the dlc episodes. Played the base game a few months ago and cried when Kate died. She clearly meant a lot to Niko. 🥺

Niko is such an amazing character. I think he has one of the best stories ever for a video game character. I think he’s up there with some of the best movie character stories.

Kate was a very nice lady, a perfect partner for Niko. They would have lived such a lovely life....but life had other plans....she was the one who could really understand Niko and make him relieved. feeling so sad for Niko.....my favourite couple and my favourite game.

Thanks for such a great video. Lots of deep conversations and completely optimistic behavior of Kate... I really appreciate it. I never thought that a crime-filled game like GTA can make you emotional with moral, ethics and values of life. I would like to choose Kate because of her optimistic personality. I also liked Michelle at starting until she betrays Niko. I like this kind of characters. I also like Toshiko from GTA LCS and Louise from GTA VCS.

I always pick the revenge ending. I find Roman dying to be a little bit overkill after all the shit him and Niko go through in the entire story but it makes sense Dimitri to be the ending villain but same time he is such a rat he doesn't deserve such satisfaction. I find it more sad that Kate dies because she is the only thing closest to Niko loving someone, setting down and having a normal life for it to be torn away from him by Pegerino.

Pass the tissue, Kate's character was more meaningful and impactful that I thought 🤧
