She is badass! It brings tears to my eyes watching her. I just recently discovered what she's gone through mentally, and I cry even harder everytime I watch her. She's the greatest.

@@LudyGacos From what I heard she left elite gymnastics due to multiple injuries throughout her career (shoulder, spine, knees, etc) and reportedly also had her confidence shattered from all the body shaming she received as well towards the later years (due to her rather curvy thighs/butt, etc) That, and from what I've read, Olympic teams require a higher degree of difficulty in their routines than even the elite athletes have. A big part of why Kaitlin did so well in her career is that she had a lower degree of difficulty routine, but was able to execute it flawlessly. That same routine, however, would not score high in the Olympics. So she would have to learn more physically demanding routines just to compete, whereas other athletes (like Simone biles, for example), regularly does higher difficulty maneuvers in her routines. So its possible between the injuries and the nerves (and possibly a concern with age as well, as far as gymnasts go) contributed to her not being considered, unfortunately. I would have loved to see her in the Olympics though, she definitely deserved the opportunity, at least.
I could not hate that more. She is having her own moment and them taking the spotlight is so disrespectful. All I see is them behind her which in a minor way is just like giving away movie spoilers. I'm so shocked some people actually think this is acceptable. After all of the work spent on creating choreography not to MENTION rehearsing it only to have your entire team butcher it, ruining the surprise factor for the fans AND judges. Ugh I'm livid on her behalf. What if I showed up to your wedding and started reciting your vows with you, you know? Disgusting.
@X11 A She's the same height as I am, watching this just made my heart swell up with so much pride and joy for her. She's amazing, and someone I feel comfortable with my daughters looking up too! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PY-ZxTpS6Ao.html
nigel mahabir you mad that somebody doing something positive for the younger generation while you here you post a negative comment good one sir! You make yourself look like an asshole mr Nigel 👏
I love that people have something like this to do but I urge parents that have kids in gymnastics to watch over their kids closely cause after hearing the majority of victims impact statements at Larry Nassar's trial and seeing the look of pain and sadness on their faces I don't want someone else's child going through something like that when this is something that can provide these kids with an additional way to pay for their college education.
I might have to start watching gymnastics just for her, the energy she brings with her is so infectious, I felt myself wanting to dance through the screen
Just a heads up, it's a different style than what's in the Olympics. They're less focused on how many runs she does which is why she can dance more. The college level is definitely more fun to watch because of it
cant believe she was ever body shamed, she is beautiful, and has done some of the best routines everyone in the world has seen. Glad she fell in love with her sport again!
Abhirup Nayak it’s because she is a college gymnast not a professional elite gymnast who competes at world cups or olympics. She does college gymnastics for fun. College gymnastics doesn’t require a lot of difficulty and there isn’t much competition. She didn’t do elite due to injuries, and being body shamed, but she did what she enjoyed most.
Abhirup Nayak A lot of gymnast have to choose between the Olympics and university. And the Olympic gymnast culture is very unhealthy and abusive one which is why you see a lot more advanced gymnast choosing University
Ok, I saw a bit of her story then found this video, and I felt the tears nearly falling while watching it, the way she's having fun and also getting the job done is amazing, I can't believe there's a bunch of asshats saying half sh*t about her, she's clearly happy, and also it sends you this vibe of how powerful and mighty she feels on the mat, tbh idk anything about gymnastics but I know about stop trying to be perfect on something so you can be happy, and this girl is doing what she loves in a healthy and safe environment, I mean, her teammates are having fun with her, supporting her and giving her all the good energy for her to get the routine done. People criticizing her and her body and her decisions can totally go to hell. I'm proud of Katelyn, and I wish I could find happiness in what I do, just like her.
No homo but she’s thicc in all the right places. All the body shaming she got when she was younger is just from haters. They have nothing on this gifted girl.
I never get sick of watching this routine. I don't think I've ever enjoyed watching anyone as much as I enjoy watching Katelyn. She brings so much joy to her performance.
UCLA has traditionally awesome floor routines - Miss Val is not only a choreographic genius but she has the perfect feeling for her gymnasts so their routines match their personalities - but this one particularly stands out and oh well Katelyn performed it to the perfection...i keep coming back to it and rewatching it...just can't get enough
1:00 this one move, standing up and standing for a few seconds using only her muscles... Gods. I can't even imagine how many strength it needs. I'm in awe. Ugh
What a great athlete and an artist. She has revolutionized the sport. Her unique style, creativity, and perseverance will never be forgotten. Love the performance. Love the person.
You are 100% correct I think it's finally the end of the error of sickeningly anorexic young 12 year old girls now it is time for a real woman in a real body to show what they can do great comet
Very few gymnasts have a body to die for, they’re usually very short and bulky. It’s one of the few sports where females actually have unattractive bodies. Powerful, yes, but very stocky builds.
@@MH-th4he There is nothing wrong with very slim and nothing wrong with a little weight. I'm not sure why you people can't see the sport but love to outlaw size?
What a great performance! Also props to whoever choreographed this routine! It's so fun to watch and it's clear that Katelyn is having fun performing it which just improves her performance that much more!
Dan find some friends......real ones....I'm pretty sure you have some already but commented this anyways but find some real friends....there is nothing wrong with liking yourself but don't make yourself your idol....that just leads to somewhere you don't want to go

those were the days, huh? lol I can't believe that people dance as much now as they did then. I can't get over katelyn being the bouncy ball that she was lol wish I could do that. Great Job lol
There was absolutely nothing wrong with her body!! She was AWESOME in performing and they couldn't handled her greatness!! It's a shame they forced her out of competition. Love her performances ❤️❤️
I love most people don’t know. She had one of the most difficult beautiful beam routines ever. She could/should have been Olympic beam champ. She missed the age cut off in 2012. By 2014 injuries & terrible coaches ended her elite career. She’s the last person to defeat Simone. American Cup 2013. Her incredible beam, I think she was 13/14, crazy difficulty. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hyPjVXELCbQ.html
@@forestnymphconfessions3596 What are you talking about? Simone is approved by WADA to take doping drugs due to congenital disease. Don't you know about that ? Wow, as a former gymnast, this is amazing, combining tricks, dancing, personality and musicality,,,,it is not just jumps and steps as so many do, this young woman is very well rounded in her training.
I don’t like the olympics routines as much tbh. Yeah the tumbling is more impressive but the dance elements are always so awkwardly done, same with beam
@@ericafraser4478 Glad I not the only one who thinks the dance routines in the Olympics look awkward, almost like they are in a hurry to finish them. But I know pretty much nothing about this sport so I won't judge the incredible athletes that attend the Olympics
THAT SPLIT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR ... WHAT !? INCREDIBLE. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A BETTER GYMNAST. AND I'VE BEEN WATCHING THEM FOR MANY MANY MOONS. YOU ARE SOMETHING SUPERNATURAL, KATELYN. GOD BLESS YOU DEAR. 💝
Like I said before, she should be in the Olympic team for the USA. Forget the person, or persons body shaming you! They’re just jealous they can’t do what you can!! You’re awesome!!!!
@@franklinloll2229 Your just being mean There are several others on the team who weigh more then her I think people only complain like that to build up their own self confidence

Wow. What an amazing, strong, and powerful performance. I truly admire Katelyn Ohashi's enthusiasm, zest, and optimism when she performs, as well as her passion for what she does.
I absolutely LOVE her! 💎 It's a shame that she was bullied so much, that she felt the only way to escape, was to quit doing what she was absolutely amazing at! She could have possibly gotten to be better than Simone, but we'll sadly never know how far she could have gone... Better than ANY gymnast, EVER! ❤. That's my opinion! 🌟
Such an emotional view for me after reading her story- it's such a great ending to an rocky journey to UCLA! She truly found happiness and Val helped her so much to get to that place.
I absolutely love watching her performances, so addicting and fun!!!! This is how sports should be, enjoyable and something that trains, but doesn't destroy and injure your body completely.
The way she gets everything out of the floor is amazing! Popping off the floor so high I think sometimes even she can't believe it! I LOVE it when she does the splits from about ten feet high is truly a gift. Not that she can just wish it to be true it takes everything you got to be THIS good. Commitment and dedication along with a HUGE portion of work (and FUN) MAKE HER A STAR ATHLETE ALL THE WAY AROUND.
Not bashing her but it get old when every video she does the same routine... change it up a little to give it something new... U don't play chess or even football doing the same moves over and over again.. if your opponent always get low 9's in the sport.. can't beat her perfect 10s... they change their routine to be better the a low 9...
Omg this girl is superb, I had been watching the Olympics and then my daughter sent me this link to compare, I am blown away wow! stopped watching the Olympics and starting watching her, this girl would win gold no question about it , love her routine and choice of music too 😍
Her smile is so contagious and she gives me goosebumps every time I watch her routine, and I'm not even into gymnastics. She is so beautiful and inspiring, and I'm so glad she found her happy place, you can see it on her face.
Hands down, Katelyn Ohashi is the best female gymnast ever! She is absolutely amazing. I'm disappointed that she isn't getting commercial endorsements. Come on yall!
These routines are so much better than the ones at the olympics! So much style and the gymnasts actually look like they're having fun instead of just doing random movements until the next floor pass

The dedication and training to reach the level of skill required is astounding. But what I am so excited about is how much fun she has. And it's incredible.
Uh, has anyone made note of her exquisite taste in music across all her routines? She is phenomenal, and I hope she goes far. Olympics? Coaching? Tumbling for little kids? She’s a champion no matter what she does.
This was so fun to watch. Normally I find floor routines bland because the girls always look miserable and half of the routine is exaggerated hand and arm flicks. This was a true performance! She actually looked like she had fun!
