I Love from 0:31 when her team mates support her with dancing to her routine. I can watch that part over and over again. Just seeing them cheering for her, alone, is heartwarming!!!
you could tell she was really feeling that music. and the best part was that after she got her ten, she saw it, and didn’t celebrate for too long. she went straight to encouraging her teamates. she’s truly an inspiration.
College gymnastics is a whole different ball game . They get given 10’s on the regular . She retired from elite gymnastics years ago and attended UCLA and did gym there. She’s now retired completely
the 10.0 was absolutely, undeniably deserved. i remember my coach telling me that execution of skill & dance elements aren't the only things that matter, but mood, facial expressions, and the energy you bring go towards your score as well. not only was every technical element of her routine perfect, but the entire routine had everybody in the room smiling & cheering through it. this gives me goosebumps every time!!!
for everything she went through, all the hateful people out there calling her “fat” or like a “bird who can’t fly” because her body went from a CHILD to a WOMAN and dropped from elite to college due to injury and toxicity, she still came out with a perfect 10. best revenge i could think of.
I think its because she wore her leotard like hiked up to the extreme so it made wierd hip lines. She clearly is not fat. I mean look closely at what shes doing lol.
@@hippopotamus5819 No worries, I'm not a liberal. I don't get offended be people being different and having different opinions. You are entitled to have and speak on yours just as I am mine. You're welcome to change my mind, but simply trying to shush me will not be effective.
Hopefully she gets to enjoy the gymnastics like Katelyn was at this time in her career. Katelyn's early years as an elite gymnast were absolutely horrendous for her.
@t.b.5115 It’s not terrible if you just focus on yourself and don’t listen to people’s opinions. Katelyn is still having fun, just in a less toxic environment.
Same! I get tears in my eyes every time I watch this. It's just perfection! I used to wonder why she wasn't an elite gymnast. She was as good as Simone Biles and actually beat her when they were both like 13 years old. I know her story now, and love her even more!
When I watch this woman perform, i see the epitome of beauty, strength, power, dedication and charisma. I see someone whom I would want my own daughter or granddaughter to have as a role model. People in this world are so blinded by their own jealously that all they can do is fill their hearts with hate. This girl is a superwoman!
This is an individual sport, but one of the galvanizing points for me was the way her teammates were so engaged with her routine, one, I am sure, they have seen many times. They were not only reacting to the music, but excitedly emulating the arm movements in her routine as she was doing it. I think that for her to engage her teammates at that level is truly remarkable.
I've seen a lot of her other competitions through the years and she's even gotten other teams to clap along to the music when she comes on to the stage. She is just bursting with energy and it's so wonderful to watch every time
Exactly! It was hard trying to pay attention to her and her teammates at the same time, their reactions where priceless! She routine was golden and her teammates really helped to drive it home for her
i watch this when i need a pick-me-up, she just radiates so much joy in what she does! while more complex and technically advanced gymnastics exists, this routine will always be one of my favorites with not only how precisely and well paced she ccmanages each move, but also the positive spirit of her and her teammates!! completely unmatched 😊
She's doing it so carelessly like she's actually having fun and not taking it seriously but somehow still managing to execute every single skill PERFECTLY with utmost precision.
it's because she's not overthinking it and trusting her body and technique. athletes get hurt and/or underpreform when they overthink a move or a combination of moves and don't rely on their body to have that muscle memory from training. she's not being careless, she's actually enjoying and loving her sport.
It just does not get any better than this!! The technical skill is incredible but the attitude and fun loving routine made me want to watch on REPEAT. I dont know what the industry haters were thinking when she was in elite but she definitely came out on top after she left. You dont get 238M views of your video for anything less than perfection.
this is a great example of what I used to tell my gymnasts, smile as if you’re having the time of your life and just have fun. All the difficulty and amplitude performed perfectly in the world will not beat out the girl out there executing great gymnastics while also having a blast. It draws in the crowd and by extension the judges in. Well, Ohashi is killing it skill wise too 😆
From a father who’s daughter is in love with and just starting out with gymnastics, after having shown her this routine, the best part of this video, for me, isn’t even the routine, it’s the focused encouragement she gave her teammate at the end that is the most inspiring and wonderful. You can have all the talent and success in the world, but being able to lift up and push forward those around you is true inspiration. These are the role models we desperately need in this world.
It’s her total exuberance that makes it doubly fun to watch. It would impressive if she were just deadly serious the whole time, but the fact she looks like she’s having a ball takes it up a notch.
@@tuning6924 wow what an fucking insult. Instead of thinking about my fat ass (which excuse u i do not have) maybe go get ur OWN ass up and try to be even remotely as good as her. After that you can talk u disintegrating, donkey.
I just recently discovered Katelyn Ohashi and although I have never followed gymnastics of any kind I think that Katelyn is probably the. Best I have ever seen. YOU ROCK LITTLE GIRL!
VickyRagDoll they should’ve been at a Florida restaurant if they didn’t want to be socially distanced, but Keanu and katelyn wants a California restaurant. Biden’s an idiot with this stupid mandate.
I saw the "Katelyn Ohashi was the best gymnast in the world until she wasn't" video before this one. Watching this made me really emotional. You go girl!!
I don’t get tired of seeing this video. Katelyn was absolutely beautiful and amazing. No one can’t say nothing bad about this amazing young girl. She did her routine flawlessly and it was clear she loves what she was doing. Perfect roll model for young girls that want to accomplish what Katelyn has with a lot of hard work. I have never seen anyone do their routine like that fast and perfect 👍. Just love ❤️ her strength and dedication above all. Cause it shows.
That is how special she is! Girl, do not ever forget it. You know, haters be wanting to knock you down, but you will survive. Focus on the people that love ya.
I came here because I thought she was one of the most talented, attractive and confident female gymnasts that I’ve seen and I was wondering why she didn’t make the olympic team. Then I learn that people had been body shaming her of all things which is just insane to me. She looks incredible. Sometimes this world is a terrible place. I would have loved for her and Simone Biles to be on the same team. Shame on those who shame others.
they're her teammates, so they (along with her) will know the routine probably off by heart. sometimes it is good to have your teammates smiling and joining in with you, otherwise you're looking at a load of blank faced people watching you perform and it's quite off putting
After watching documentaries highlighting what some of these amazing gymnasts have had to experience, seeing them just playing the sport they love and having fun, makes me so happy.
Rachel From Staples they weren’t the judges they organised the event the judges where next to the floor on the right I was sitting right behind this camera as they filmed it
Did anyone notice how at 0:39 and 0:46 her team was completely backing her up and doing some of her moves with her? That was so heart-warming and sweet!! Not sure if that’s called teamwork, but that’s a truly shared joy
As a man with a daughter, this brought tears to my eyes. They talked about her so much if I were her dad I'd have been on another level of anger but she got the best revenge - a 10 and a ridiculous floor routine with ACTUAL dancing AND SHE HIT A MOONWALK!
@@craigcraig7498 for gymnastics you have to start young and to compete at such a high level like her i would say the training is brutal. Just years of hard conditioning and how much you joints suffer it’s also a disservice to gymnast to call their training anything less than brutal
@@craigcraig7498 some of these people literally become homeschooled in order to train from morning until evening if they hope to make it to the Olympics...shits absolutely brutal.
I think what I enjoyed the most is how happy she looks while performing, some of these girls really let the score thy get define them, she looked like she genuinely enjoyed herself. It’s refreshing.
She looks like she’s having so much damn fun, and that’s why she’s one of my favorites. The girls’ gymnasts are always so strong and graceful and technically skilled, and she is, but she has this infectious enthusiasm that really makes her fun to watch.
@@kibbylol it depends on your music, it's recommended for more cheerful music like the routine here. but back when I did gymnastics, my routine had a more somber tone, so I didn't smile during my routine until after.
The best routine I've ever seen, not because of the routine (which is amazing), but because how happy Katelyn looks and the joy she brought to the routine. Well done on not giving up on gymnastics Katelyn, may your future be bright.
This is Sports Gymnastics, not Rhytmic Gymnastics, her performance should only be graded on complexity of her programme, not her smile and dance moves. Not saying that the programme was bad, it was spotless and complex enough to warrant a perfect 10, just dont want people getting wrong impression on what the scoring is based on.
I didn't realised people had body shamed this gymnast. She looks healthy to me, probably why she's able to give such a confident and stunning performance. Any hate towards her is plain and simple due to jealousy. People can have opinions but talent always shine through xx
Maybe on the larger side compared to the stereotypical mince thin floopsy doopsy gymnast body, but I can't imagine a single man saying her body isn't perfection. Both beautiful from a basic primal ooga booga hot woman perspective, but also just the incredible athleticism and awe of it.
Bruh she is more then healthy, she’s healthier then most of us can dream of being lmao. That girl has some serious muscles 💪 and ohh my soul im all for it
Well its a shame i dont have her body!! Id sure not be ashamed of it. Those people who do that dont have whatever they consider, perfect body type! Id bet my saggy butt on that.
Had to rewatch this multiple times. Her smile is contagious and her teammates are the best. Even Miss Val was having the time of her life watching Katelyn. That team is the type of team most of us would dream about.
She wasn't always so happy (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z9b1KAoYz9s.html) and it's SO FANTASTIC to see her having left that world behind and blossomed. Such a JOY to watch
I love seeing all the teammates doing the dance movements with her. It was a little bit distracting in the video from katelyn but personally if I was doing a routine and my teammates were doing that it would’ve helped me immensely to remember the routine, I often would get thrown off by hearing the audience make noise & forget where I was in the routine
@Delta Dawn I’ll take this one.... here folks, we have a batshit crazy, half-wit, low IQ, ultra right wing neo Christian that doesn’t realize the ass backward; sanctimony in their behavior. They’re simply too stupid to realize that their judgmental attitude can’t be hidden behind a keyboard on the internet. It’s a mental illness. A perpetual dose of the holy bible, Fox News and Sean hannity... ALL DAY LONG. Thes are uninspiring, un-creative, uninspiring, self loathing, useless, meaningless flesh bags (mostly fat) human beings in the planet. They lack enough intellect to be situationally aware of “self,” therefore look like total and complete idiots in public, or on the internet. These lowlife, knuckle dragging simpletons are a mere obstacle for us normal folks to be forced to circumnavigate throughout our daily lives. If they didn’t exist. We’d be better off. But they are here, so patience is a virtue. Here’s a thought, nutjob... GO AWAY and let successful people do successful thing while you dwell in your ignorant simple word of perpetual misery. You are the antithesis of what you “believe” you are; a phony, blaspheme, and if the idols you worshipped were actually real; well, they’d fuckimg hate you. Good day.
She looks like she is having so much fun with all her teammates and friends in the audience cheering for her and hyping her up, and with her just grooving and looking like she was just genuinely enjoying herself. I couldn't help but smile watching this. I'm so glad that she had the power and wisdom to seize control and take this route, and I'm so grateful to know that there are people like Ms Val and her friends and teammates in this world who are so supportive. Seriously, wishing her all the best for the future because she deserves it.
@@georgeradu6759 She's past all that by the time of this vid though. This is NCAA. It was elite (olympics and shit) gymnastics that she left over the body shaminng stuff.
