Women tournaments should be abolished it simply sets a lower standard for women when they are just as capable as men. It undermines women and suggests that they cannot compete with men and so there is a women’s category. It doesn’t allow the best women’s chess players to set a higher standard and compete with the men and they do not achieve their full potential because they don’t compete with the best of the best.

Thanks man someone had to say it. Although I would disagree with your take about that they are as good as men. There are about the same amount of women starting to get into chess at a young age since prolly 5-10 years or so. And even tho they have the privilege to earn money and prestige in their own women's section and also play in open which would mean they have it much much easier to get their way to the top and make it worthy playing chess as a full-time job they still don't manage to come out at above the top 300. To me it's hilarious how they keep putting it on the men. Right now facts are that they have more possibilities and privileges than men and are still much worse players. There is literally nothing to say against it.

@@tristan7720"about the same amount of women starting to get into chess", please get your stats checked before trying to justify your own bias opinion. There are simply way fewer women interested in chess than men still. You can't really say women aren't as smart in chess when you can't even do critical thinking properly.

@@tristan7720 When the skill level balances out, it will become a unisex sport. Until then, let's do our part in paving the way (or as you put it, "making it easy") for women to compete at the top level.
@tristan7720
@tristan7720 2 месяца назад
@@gerald02121 why force it tho. If you observe the situation objectively no one loses if the women's bracket gets deleted. In contrast to when it exists. Male players that are far better than literally all women get paid less and have less invitations. Idk what it is with people like you that you only care about lifting up women when it's really not necessary. If they really are on the same level as men in theory they should easily be able to make it to the top only w open tournaments.
@tristan7720

@@gerald02121 bruh. The only fair way is to not lay stones in their way and they should be able to get up there through open tournaments like all players. People like you are confused by modern politics
@tristan7720
@tristan7720 2 месяца назад
This is so stupid. Just play open tournaments like everyone and if you are good enough you will get to play in the top tier tournaments like Judit Polar did. The privileges that women have these days in chess are just straight up unfair. Imagine you're a 2650 male player and you have to experience this period of time where women that are not even IM level play so many more tournaments than you with money, prestige and a platform to advertise themselves even tho you are much much better and only because they are women. It's crazy how it's forbidden to speak about topics like this today. It's not sexist to say something against this. It's literally the other way around and sexist to let bad players play in their own section (while they also can play in open) just because of their genders.

Out of 10 chess players registered with FIDE, 9 are men and 1 is a woman. The lack of women chess players is because chess has been a male-dominant game for decades. It's only recent decade that chess becomes more open to women in the sense that people won't find it weird when a girl says she wants to learn chess. "I want to spend my life learning chess and earn from it!" "No, girl. Most women chess players aren't successful! I don't see any girls earning money from it" It is obviously a riskier gamble for a woman to spend her life in chess when they see not as many women earning money from it as men. This is the reason why there are women chess titles and tournaments, it is to slowly make the game more inclusive to women by first giving them an exclusive fighting ground to make them more visible, in order to inspire the next women generation of chess players. It will take a while before the ratio of women to men chess players becomes more balanced, until then Women World Chess Championship will stay.

@@cyin974 reverse sexism (female exclusive tournaments) is the same as sexism. If you want to solve the problem of lack of female representation in chess (if it is solvable) then the correct way to do it is to remove stigma against it without resorting to stigmatizing against male. But truth be told, you need to consider the possibility that women are truly inferior to men in chess. They are inferior in so many domains, I don’t get why it is hard for people to just accept that chess is one of them. Not to mention, the whole movement of equalizing female representation is completely dishonest because the same people advocating for it doesn’t want to equalize other areas like representation of female prison inmates or female brick layers. It is bogus, and you should think hard about supporting it.

@@cyin974 Participation rate is absolutely NOT the reason why women perform worse in elite chess than men. The reason is that male outliers are more extreme than female outliers - this applies to pretty much everything, not just chess. There are mental activities and games that are numerically dominated by women, but the best participants are still men. And of course, this does not mean that men are better in chess on average, it only means that men occupy the extremes. If there was a way to find the 100 worst chess players in the world, it would ALSO likely be almost all men. People, for some reason, refuse to understand this simple statistical reality.
