Even in this movie Muthuraman is underrated. More praise given to Balaiyaa and Nagesh. But Muthuraman performed admirably in 'dual' roles. Lets not forget 😊😊 that!

Really It makes us to feel the vintage, really really really good if we guys get a Time machine and we wish have those era life experience without digital world. Those 'dull and boring' films of old mostly proclaimed good values to educate the public. This film did the opposite and if you are right that this is one of the first of its kind that followed afterwards, then no wonder why the value system of the people took a dive!
Have seen this movie 14 times… What a movie…everyone in this movie seems to be naturally talking to each other…doesn’t look like they delivered a memorised dialogues. Timing, natural acting, limited emotions, no artificial fight sequences, Chinnamalai bungalow. …All beautifully portrayed.

This is one of the top 20 movies I have seen among all Indian and foreign languages.About this film,my only comment is"They don;t make them like this anymore". The songs,color photography,acting,direction were all par excellence. Naalaam naalaam thirunaalaam song was the best but all other songs were great too.Gems like Muthuraman,Ravichandran,Kanchana,Rajshri,Nagesh,Baliah etc shone in this movie

Super hit film with no super stars. Family entertainment. Remade in Telugu by another producer and director. Tamil songs and tunes were retained but for one song. Later Maverick Sridhar made in Hindi with Sashi and Kishore Kumar. Pyaar Kiye Jaa. Hit. Much later actor Sachin remade in Marathi. Big hit. Introduced Jesudas and Kanchana to Tamil industry. His big risk in colour luckily paid off. For a break He shifted from tragedies to comedy. Gopi s contribution is immense in this film. This also paved the way for Ooty varai uravu. Sridhar was Telugu but had great command over Tamil
If there was an Academy such as Oscar Academy in India, T.S. Balaiya would have been nominated and (in my opinion) would have been won for the best supporting actor!! His performance is the reason the movie was so popular. And of course director Sridhar's excellent casting and direction and camera man Vincent's amazing camera angle and capture of some of the memorable scenes, one cannot forget!!

Ravichandran is an agnostic unlike his elder brother was an active member of Malaysia Brahmana Samajam.
