Dr Kathryn Goodenough is a Principal Geologist at the British Geological Survey and Deputy Director, BGS Global. She started her career as a mapping geologist, but has been researching critical metal resources for many years, particularly the rare earth elements, and more recently lithium. She is the Principal Investigator for the LiFT (Lithium for Future Technology) project, funded by the UK’s Natural Environment Research Council. She has worked extensively across Africa, both on critical metals research and in building partnerships with geological surveys.
Kathryn & her colleagues have been working with partners exploring lithium pegmatites across Africa, and this talk will give a summary of the current known resources plus some of the ongoing research.
