Kathy's husband is a songwriter & he wrote this song about his grandparents. A true story. Her husband was the one that wheeled his grandpa in to see his grandma. It's a great song & Kathy sings it beautifully. Other songs "Love at the five & dime" "Eighteen wheels & a dozen roses" "Walk the way the wind blows" Really any song you pick is good.

This song has always made me cry. My mom and dad were madly in love, at one time they both were in the same hospital "different beds on different floors". I wheeled my dad into mom's room, they kissed and he said, "Do you want me to feel you up?' Me and the nurse fell into chairs laughing. Mom said, "No".

Kathy's husband wrote the song about his grandparents. Every record label turned the song down because it was too long. So they went to the Bluebird in Nashville. They performed the song to the crowd, not a dry eye in the place. So, of course, Kathy recorded the song. It was hit.

I'm so glad y'all have gotten to this bittersweet song which Mattea performed so beautifully and with eloquent accompanyment. When I have found folks on RU-vid first discovering Classic Country Music and find several songs of great meaning which cause them to reevaluate their belief system regarding country music, I have always suggested this particular performance. It is especially important for married couples and those who seek marriage to listen and understand what marriage is supposed to be and what a tremendous blessing marriage truly is. Please continue your good and enjoyable work. God bless you.

My grandparents were almost word for word with this song. My grandfather actually was a salesman for Southern Foods around the Atlanta area. They were married for sixty years, and were each in the same hospital at the same time, one on each end of the hospital. My Mamaw passed away in the hospital, two months shy of their sixty-first anniversary. My grandfather was brought to see her from his room on the other side of the hospital after she passed. So yes, this song always makes me emotional. Love Kathy Mattea.

Check it out “455 Rocket!!!” And “Knee deep in a River”. Yes, my mom has Alzheimer’s, and it does happen that way. Some days she knows I’m her daughter, some days I’m her sister. It’s a cruel, cruel disease. 😢

Kathy’s husband wrote this and at the time his grandmother was losing her memory and was in the hospital. When his grandpa visited her, she remembered him when she hadn’t remembered anyone else. Y’all should watch Bluebird, the story of the historic Bluebird Cafe in Nashville that is the center of the universe for songwriters hoping to make it. Kathy and her husband both are on there and tell this story. 😪♥️🎶

She is SUCH an incredibly talented vocalist!!! So happy to see y’all reacting to her🥰 HIGHLY RECOMMEND ‘Standing Knee Deep In a River (And Dying of Thirst)’. Song is straight FACTS and of course vocally amazing😍 Loved your reaction!! Reminded me of a cpl of things… Fact is- The Biebs has been writing/making some amazing music past cpl of years (something I perhaps thought I’d never say😂) His song ‘Lifetime’ is simply beautiful!! Then, on your movie channel- y’all should check out ‘The Notebook’ if you’ve not seen it! Dementia/Alzheimer’s Disease is one of the cruelest to deal with for all parties🥺 Never time wasted with y’all; appreciate you! Stay safe & love much💖

Watching this shows how much I love you guys. A bit after I got married I never listened to this again. The last part where they are separated in the hospital makes me think about things I absolutely do not want to. My husband and I feel this way about each other and the older we get, the more this becomes a possibility. And of course I sobbed watching this. Wonderful reaction.

My favorite song she did was " ready for the storm" and my favorite version of it was at the Bluebird cafe. Just her and her long time guitar player. She sings it so powerfully she gets a little rasp to it. And both of them, her on acuostic and him on slide was incredible! Played like i like my honey, raw and unfiltered!!

*The* *Cure* *-* *Disintegration* I highly recommend you guys do a reaction to this track!! 👍🏼 • The song is dripping w/ atmosphere. You can hear the pain and regret in Robert Smith's voice. • I'd suggest not listening to any concerts because you aren't able to hear all of the subtle instrumental components. I promise you won't regret it. P.S. Great video, by the way.
