A bit of a time capsule: Our Katie was called Katherine then, a political correspondent transport from Washington, DC, and a clipped brunette- the antithesis of the big-haired blonde anchor. Her pixieish charm worked well opposite Bryant Gumbel, and the two of them brought TODAY into the 1990's.

Same! Growing up, my mom always had the Today show on in the mornings while she got ready for work and got us off to school. Years later after she retired, I'd come over and have breakfast with her and visit and it secretly made me smile to walk in and see that she still watched the Today show every morning. Good times! ❤

Considering that NBC has kept all of its source tapes since the 1970's, it's pretty easy to see why they have this. All that's required is a matter of digitizing the old source tapes.
