She's right. I am on benefits and I signed up to a local voluntary group to litter pick around my community. It gives you self worth and when applying for work it shows you're not lazy
Ok I work 30-40 hours a week as a cashier in Burger King and on average scrape up just short of £200 a week from that. Someone can sit at home, get in excess of that and then come to Burger King armed with ten vouchers and 3-5 noisy kids called Stacey, Fraser and Liam, scream at their kids and irritate other customers who probably work. These are usually mothers who are caked in make up, fake tan, jewellery, cigarettes and other useless wastes of money which I am paying for. Before this, I was unemployed, on the dole and I think a couple hours a day, a few days a week doing a little work like litter picking wouldn't have hurt a bit. Especially as I got my current job by walking down my local high street and enquiring about an ad in the window, which I could have done weeks, if not months before I did. I agree fully with Katie.
I have signed off for reasons like no jobs no nothing there is no real leadership no more jobs centre are so b,s now a days. And we get had a go at because we are told we do not want jobs nor want to do it lol get the money stop for not sowing up on time by like sec's or so on not bring something by mistake its a fucking joke. Fuck off with that b,s i wanted to fucking work i worked for nothing more for a real fucking job so called training. The government as lied to us lied to us all just so they can get cheaper lador from new age slave coming in. I worked on a camp real job and in the range fake job no extra money and working 60hours a weak living from a welfare check! . No wonder they is no fucking jobs half of them are given to new comers and all these fucking cuts are not helping us. This all fucking start when they started taking away are our mines and so on and unions. government unions are not the peoples unions lol
It's funny how the girl who refuses to do work for free has very sparkly colourful false nails... Now i treat myself to a visit to the nail salon every so often when i have money to spare and i know they are not cheap!
Nutcase101. You are missing the point by a mile, and you wont see it until you lose your job again and there isnt a welfare State to help you, and that's what everybody is missing, because they are fools. The Tory's are getting rid of the welfare state and we are returning to Victorian values. It wont be long before the work house returns for the poor .
Then why aren't OLDER people working "any jobs" instead of taking in Medicare and Social Security? Why don't lead by example, by forgoing all benefits? We didn't go to college vying in our field of studies like tech and engineering for 4 years just to become trash pickers. Baby Boomers never started out that way, they got jobs right out of high school in the 60's and 70's when the economy was booming! So why should young people?
The sense of entitlement people have today is shocking and outrageous, anyone not in work should be made to do community work, and do it well or else. The something for nothing society has gone on for too long and it is payback time, long overdue fr many of our outright deadbeats and scroungers.
Hopkins is quite correct There are too many entitled who will not do what they feel is demeaning . He is talking shit They expect to choose They should piss off and not get benefit
"I thought the people who committed a crime and we're doing community service were the ones who picked up litter". Katie: "Is picking litter too good for you"? Woman on panal: I cant belive you are attacking a young care leaver in the audience are you actually doing that? Is that really what's happening now?" Ugh I so tired of this special snowflake mentality. People really do get offended over absolutely everything these days, and as per nobody answered the question.
Kay K You're absolutely right. She's only asking a question. Why is she accusing her of attacking the girl. Katie is making a fair point, just answer the bloody question.
Litter picking is a part of my duties, i've never done community service, and i salute Katie Hopkins for the is litterpicking too good for you! It's not glam but i do it to support myself and my son and in my book it's up a class from not working at all i am behind Katie 100% on this one!
What they didnt mention was that the social security will put people on useless courses costing around £300 + per person per week when the minimum wage for litter picking would be perfectly acceptable to me and would cost less than these courses and the country is a cleaner place its a win win situation
Robert Parkes Loads of us want that but it wouldn't seem right? Imagine someone in Whitehall that actually cares about Britain and British people. We haven't had that since Enoch Powell!
She does have many of the qualities necessary I must admit- loud braying voice, limited real world experience, strongly held opinions generally flying in the face of facts...
She's right though. I see litter so why can't jobless people pick it up?. I see parks in need of repair so they can be used again, i see the high street of my town in desprate need of being cleaning as that smog from cars has blackend the walls of the buildings. Lets get them doing things others wont. Let get them making bike tracks in the woods, fixing paths in the local woods for dag walkers. lets see them help older ladies and gents home with the shoping (as long as they don't rob them).
I've raised money for charities that fix this stuff but unlike the jobless i've worked all week and my days off are my time for my self. I'd happly work as street cleaner if i needed a job. I'd happly make a career in restoration of old sandstone buildings damaged by car fumes.
Please get off your high horse. You are no better because you work. Ive been jobless and at work. Im currently working again. Sick of hearing people like you moan, get over yourself. How about you clean parks since you are so bothered about it.
Well, at one point I was out of work for near enough three years. Got bullied out of work, was depressed then my mum became brain damaged so struggled dealing with that. Maybe if you stopped listening to propeganda you would learn that all you are talking is nonsence. I mean, have some common sence. People who commit murder, pedophilia and rape etc get to sit on their ass in in jail, play pool / playstation and get 3 meals a day. Yet if your out of work you have to clean a park? When I was out of work it was so hard trying to find any. I even tried to be an epprentice, turns out they are not on paying the money to train someone older that 20. Besides, most of the people that were on benefits are either on the streets or were lucky to find something.
Looking at the comments on a load of these Katie Hopkins videos, everyone is saying "I can't stand Katie, but I agree with her" Maybe you need to get over yourself and realise you've been brainwashed by the masses to dislike her. She tells the truth that people can't bear to hear these days.
I don't agree with some of her views but in this particular situation she is spot on! But I personally do like her, not because I agree with what she says, but she's quite entertaining lol
I agree with most of her views. Sometimes she is over the top rude and I don't always like that. It can be very useful though. I do like her as a person. We need people like Katie and maybe we even need her to be over the top rude....to fill that gap. Ususally only very stupid people have the guts to say things that offend people and they are louder than the smart people who are careful and respectful. We need this smart person to do the same, to give new perspectives. It does not mean that everyone should behave like that. I think she is in a rather unique place that teaches people to speak up when they see something wrong. She needs to be this extreme so other people feel more able to be more honest and brave in a less extreme way. In everyday life people of course cannot and should not be this rude, but they must learn to speak up and be more brave. That is her mission. And what she does is usually not just plain rudeness. Most of the time there is a message. It is an act to shake people awake and be honest and real.
I don't like people who say nasty things. Others don't like people who say nasty things. It's a tad unrealistic to like someone who is rude and nasty even if they are correct in what they are saying in regards to a specific topic and it's stupid to say people are brainwashed to dislike her. You can get your point across without trying to be a condescending twat
Yeah being properly paid for doing viable, useful, meaningful, work, that actually contributes to the economy." Illegal immigrants can trash pick. Young people didn't waste 16 years of academia to pick up trash. It's an excuse for big companies to avoid paying locals a proper wage for cheap labor.
When I could work I done everything from machine operator to ambulance driver and even done industrial cleaning on building sites cleaning disgusting porta cabins and workies toilets. Was hard graft and I had 3 jobs at once at one point and I done what I did to keep a roof over my head. I've now got a host of health problems that stop me working and I have no choice to claim benefits. I can't even do voluntary work cos I've tried. Not everyone wants to be on benefits. I hate being on a fixed income struggling all the time. I know there are some that abuse the system and they are the ones that give the genuine people in need a bad name. I'd even do litter picking if I physically could.
Totally agree with her. Why is it so ridiculous to think that if you "can't find work" the state can offer you money for doing tasks such as litter picking. It teaches the people on benefits a true life lesson on how hard it is to earn a dollar (or in this case a pound) and it makes our world a better place to live. If I ever found myself jobless for whatever reason I would never expect money for nothing and I would be happy to go and pick litter up from a local park etc for benefit money for a short period until I found real employment. True work ethic is running low in this country. Its a nanny state and we are only letting ourselves down!
i was on job seekers allowance and i felt so dirty being on it. I hated it! I do live in an area where the government has failed us, and there are no jobs available at all...but I took it upon myself to move abroad for work and gain experience. People who live off of benefits are lazy bums as a majority, and those ones who say they have kids to feed and stuff....dont have kids if you cant afford it you idiots!! THINK ABOUT THE FUTURE!! dont just do something without thinking "can i really afford this right now?"
I sort of agree with the Hopkins cow, though it pains me to do so. Young fit people claiming job seekers allowance should be made to do some litter picking. It would be far better than having them lazing around, smoking cannabis, drinking lager and watching Jeremy Kyle. After all, it's some of the younger generation who don't give a shit, that litter the streets in the first place!
Love that you brush all young people on job seekers as lazy shits that drink and smoke weed. Ignorant. If they can give people the job of litter picking to get benefits then surely it makes more sense to take them off benefits and pay them normal wages and treat it like a normal job.
+CastleFlameGal Not sure if that was meant for me, but obviously I'm not saying all young unemployed are the same. But I'm sure you must realise that a high percentage of them do laze around, smoking dope and drinking. And I agree that that giving them proper jobs that involve keeping the streets clean would be ideal. But don't councils already employ people to do just that?
Clive Bindley Yes the council do. So obviously those jobs are available if they are able to give those jobs out so easily to people on job seekers in return for giving them benefits. Like I said before, just take them off benefits and give them the litter picking jobs through the council instead of them being treat like they are slaves to the benefit system. It's not the ideal job people want but I think it looks much better to be in a job whilst looking for a job than to not officially be in a job looking for a job. It's always been known that people that are employed get jobs a lot easier than the unemployed.
+CastleFlameGal You said take them off benefits pay them normal wages and treat it like a normal job. IT being litter picking I assume? But if the council already has people paid to do that, then it's not going to happen..even if the council workers don't do their job very well, which they obviously don't as a lot of streets are dirty and ridden with litter. I say make the dole claimers do so many hours litter picking or their benefits are stopped/suspended.
Clive Bindley Well then the claimants are just being slaves to the benefit system aren't they? If the council are already paying people to do it then why is the DWP making people do the exact same thing but with less pay? It sounds like exploitation to me. I f the council workers are doing a bad job of cleaning the streets then they should do a better job or get sacked. The people on benefits shouldn't be getting treated like a sack of shit just because they are having trouble getting employed. A lot of people on benefits would probably do a better job of doing the work than the people that are actually getting paid from the council.
Who said anything about 40 hour weeks? If you aren't working and are recieving money from the state, what harm is it to spend an hour or two the odd lunch time litterpicking to give back to the community. I think that's fair.
Kealan O'Doherty it’s not fair for the welfare parasites who want their 3 piece leather sofa, 50” plasma, sky subscription and Xbox all paid for by the taxpayer for doing the square root of jack shit.
I totally agree with Katie, lazy little fuckers out there who do nothing for the economy and expect tax payers like me to pay for their vices? I'm no angel, I drink and I smoke, but I work hard for the money I earn and I can spend it on what I like. Young people on benefits who have no disabilities or anything should have to sign on everyday at the crack of dawn, teach them how to get up of a morning!
I totally agree with you. I had it too easy when I was on the dole, until I pulled my finger out and walked down my local high street and enquired in burger king about their ad in the window. All I had to do was show up bi weekly at the jobcentre and show I'd looked for work 35 hrs a week- easily could have made it all up.
You and Katie must go out picking up litter then? Somehow, when u both offer this opinion, you only envisage some other person beneath yourself, doing a menial task for free.
I don't agree with certain things Katie says and DO agree with a lot of what she says. One thing I noticed is that most people that come against her, never have really good points and never stay on their point of contention. Odd.
a guy in the video said minimum wage ...... so in theory if your benefits was 100 pound a week ....and the min wage was 10 pound per hour .... you could be assigned 10 hours of litter picking per week to get your benefits and you are earning minimum wage. Just a thought !!!
And then the employer sees that he can get labour for free from the government and never attempts to hire full-time employees again, as he can simply demand that the 'scroungers' do their community service. The only thing different is that the benefits are now funnelled into the pocket of the employer and not the employee. And as a side-effect this disrupts the labour market, increases dole dependency (no hope of permanent job) and creates flex worker positions (which end up costing the tax-payer more).
Got to love how she's telling a bunch of middle class trust fund kids that litter picking isn't above them 😂you can imagine them after the show saying something like "oh bunty she said our pesants should litter pick for money , how ghastly" 😂
What they ended up doing was putting people in Poundland to stack the shelves and mop the floors for 40 hours a week for their dole whilst those who had paid jobs in Poundland were on zero hour contracts. The state were effectively paying the workers wages for Poundland and those in work who (like Katie) were saying "make the scroungers work" were getting replaced by workfare and then they themselves had to sign on and work for the dole.
We don't have to go far into the past to see the results of a lessaiz-faire capitalist system in Britain. It was in full force during Victorian times and was aptly chronicled by Charles Dickens, among many others. Poverty and scarcity wages prevailed and most people died young with little to no medical help. Social democracy works just fine and has done an admirable job over the past four decades in every European country where social programs have been implemented -- and the rich have not suffered in any way for it!
Honestly however much money an individual on the UK's lifeline would be given should be earned. If an individual would be given £50 a week they should work for however many hours the minimum wage would take to reach that amount. If you do not fulfil these tasks you should then be moved onto an alternative system in which the finances are removed from your hands and instead you can use something akin to a food stamp in stores. This system isn't a lifestyle, it's intended to keep people from falling through the cracks but instead it is being abused. If someone has only just been made redundant or left school, fair enough, give them three months of "grace". However after that time is past you are now employed for X numbers of hours by the state to reach the amount of your benefits. You shouldn't expect something for nothing. However I fully acknowledge most people don't like being on benefits and are simply struggling to find employment. Honestly the system being a bit to much like a lifestyle than a lifestyle is one thing but the chaotic nature of finding a job is another thing entirely.100 different websites and stores with no uniform way of applying, it's madness to have this be the case in the age of information. Logically all job postings and applications for said postings should be processed through a single site, allowing for things to be streamlined and effective.
The relevance is? The Queen and her family bring in a far greater ammount of money into the UK than we spend on them (Before tourism). I suggest you look at CGG Greys Video on the subject for a break down.
The fact is that monarchy is one of the most disgusting systems ever. It is immoral, unfair and wrong, and the fact that people still allow it to exist today proves that we did not evolve as a society. Supporting Monarchy is pure evil! These kinds have been exploiting people for a long long time and they did terrible things on the way, many hidden from the public. It is 21st century and the British people still bow to them. Isn't it stupidity? When your main tourist attraction is gross inequality and anti democratic spirit you know you're on a winner.
They make us more money than they cost before tourism, with tourism they are amazing for generating revenue. Revenue that can go into other key areas such as public services, lifelines, or whatever else you wish. Don't bite your nose off to spite your face, we're all better off because of them. They have no actual power, stop being unreasonable.
I can't believe the younger generation actually feel that they are owed everything and yet feel they don't have to give anything. If your unemployed and get benefits why shouldn't do community service. Students think its a given right to get student loans to get further education and then piss it up the wall and give nothing back, most study topics that will have no benefit to the community that has doled out the money for their lush life styles. I wouldn't mind if they paid back the half the money they squandered.
@@stevewhiteside3102 ok then what’s debt. Because form what I know it’s money that you don’t own it’s not payed through taxes either. Debt isn’t a good thing it’s not like recieveing benefits
@@stevewhiteside3102 i don’t know what’s not clear. I’m not sure your aware of what a loan is. A loan is money lended by the bank which you pay back how are others paying? “Blah, blah, blah” the self entitlement you are protraying isn’t helping you sound anymore knowledgeable.
Benefits or welfare are supposed to be *TEM-PO-RARY!* However, politicians parlay them into political footballs; instead of finding permanent solutions to recurring issues.
I often pick up litter, simply because I hate seeing it. Sour faced Katie Hopkins is simply around to court controversy, as part of her distinctive self branding. She would attract less criticism by attacking the litter droppers or which there are many millions.
Many people here claim that it is wrong for people on £75 a week to work for it. The thing is, when my friend was unemployed he got "monthly" £315 dole, £600 rent and £100 council tax paid to/for him, thus totalling a monthly income (as would be "take home pay" for workers) of £1015. He also got free dental and eye stuff (what are known as PASSPORTED benefits) so please by all means complain or criticise about the principle of working for one's dole, but don't be so naieve to believe or think that there aren't many of us out there who work and only take home a whisker above that in total and still have the same commitments. The difference being we have our self respect and see the Welfare State as a safety net and not a hammock like "some" do.
May i just add no one is forcing no one to pick litter up!! And the people who are against Katie in this is sadly what this world is lacking - we do not have people of a similar mind who would think to themselves - oh, there's a half empty Dr Pepper shoved on a brick wall i will pick it up and put it in the nearest bin. This world is lacking human respect and decency to certain things. If you pick litter up it is not beneath you - you are showing YOU HAVE RESPECT FOR THIS PLANET AND YOU'RE NOT GOING TO TURN A BLIND EYE TO IT AND WAIT FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT!!
joshua powell thats not the point. As women we have handbags. You can hold onto it until you see a bin, weather its in the town or out and about. You shouldnt throw rubbish on the floor if police see you do that they can arrest you for it - i dont know if the laws have changed over things like that now because laws are always changing but if you feel right throwing something on the floor and walking away from it then i just find that rude or disrespectful. You have deep enough pockets in jackets for a man to be able to hold onto stuff like tissues or gum, sometimes enough for a bottle of Dr Pepper - you can squeeze your wallet in and a fag packet if you smoke etc and if you see something on the floor pick it up. I live on a corner and teenagers and random people walking past my house think its okay to shove crisp packets into my bush and its disgusting. It devalues the look of my house and its just not nice, so if you see something poking out of a bush you pick it up. I was just in town and i saw a young lad sixteen maybe 18 eating a packet of macdonalds chips and when he was done he threw that on the floor in the bus station without a flipping seccond thought. And when you see someone doing something like that you wonder how they've been raised - what value systems they have because i guarantee you people and the younger generations these days have none.
Young people today are lazy and have no pride in the country when my wife and I are out we have picked up litter and put it into the bins. We have also told people off for throwing litter on the road and footpaths. There should be very heavy fines for these actions of litter disregard. I reiterate the laziness of young people today.
So annoying with people in their early and mid 20's who are acting like babies, thinking they have more knowledge and intelligence than people who have been living 20 years or longer than themselves. I love Katie Hopkins. If it was up to me, she would be Prime minister of the UK.
Imagine a world where there were no criminals, and even in this world litter would still need to be picked up. It's so blatantly a self-entitlement issue, and these idiots can't even see how arrogantly middle class they are.
I love the welfare in England .I have stayed on the disability benefits for 38yrs my rent is 1600 UK pounds a month I have no rent cap as I'm classed as disabled I have a new car every 3 years I get 1380 a month cash which is used to pay the mortgage as this house is owned by my wife who is also my landlord so it's been a win win for our family ..in the UK it is so easy to fiddle the welfare system and I could never be made to give up my right to benefits . England is the best why do you think the refugees aim for UK.
Litter picking in their own streets is a start, tidy their own gardens up, clean their house, a good base for self esteem to send them out in to the world with a more positive outlook
Love her and she's a breath if fresh air in the UK were every one is PC snowflakes that are attacking whites and being sexist and throwing ppl in jail for thought crimes lol
Community work like litter picking for criminals but people on benefits should be paid minimum wage for the same work and also I think to label people as scroungers when there is less than 1% fraud in the system is truly despicable.
Silly fool in the suit. Don’t work if you’re worse off then? It’s as simple as that. My God, if everyone worked for free and had beans and crisps everyday, there’d be none of this mucking about. As for the guy talking about the minimum wage, he hit the nail on the head. In my last job, I was 20, just finished 3 years of college and was on the minimum age wage (age discrimination, if you ask me). There were people older than me “entitled” to more, yet weren’t as enthusiastic or as helpful than the younger ones. Yet somehow, because of their age, that makes them “entitled” to receive more because of their age? What made it worse was the fact that the assistant manager was younger than me, at 19, yet she received less than me as soon as I turned 21. So someone with more experience and responsibility, gets less.... because of age. Some people 18-24 have kids, houses etc. Why should they receive less? When someone 25+ may still live at home. How about scrapping the minimum wage and replace it with a WORKING wage and then base it on effort, responsibility and experience. That’s why I don’t blame anyone staying on benefits. I’d rather do that that be a corporate slave to the government and work for free, while people smile and read off of a script in front of a camera get thousands, or be the unelected, dopey “queen” and have everything handed to on a plate. Just like all these fools who volunteer every day of their lives. They’re being exploited. Fresh air doesn’t put food in the fridge. Don’t let the system get the upper hand of you. Don’t let it control and manipulate you into being a modern day slave. Then again, don’t have dozens of kids and just get disgusting beer and fags every week. I like what Katie has to say a lot of the time, but really, would you work for nothing when everyone else doesn’t? Nah, don’t think so. Out of touch nonces at the BBC and virtue signalling, indoctrinating feminists and noncewood don’t know half of it.
As I live in the states I don't know what a 'ginger' is but I think that the kid who referred to 'the welfare state' as if it were his parent and responsible care giver must be one.
Can’t believe these lazy youngsters. I’ve often litter picked in the local park, and I’ve neither been payed nor claimed benefits. If litters on the floor just pick it up.
I kinda agree with Katie. It's just that I didn't push myself through 4 years college and had 12 years of grade school, just to become a trash picker. I went to college to get a job in my field of study, so I end up NOT becoming a trash picker. I blame colleges and corporate world for not giving me training or skills that I need to succeed in the workforce. You can't get skills, if they refuse to train.
So do x hours of litter picking that equates to the sum total of benefits received. Not disability benefits of course but out of workers. Then the minimum wage argument actually becomes a solid one for having the jobless pick litter and do other community work for a few hours a week. Then there would be a pure cast iron incentive to do more hours and get off benefits
MrChunk3y the government. that money should have gone to reviving business and individual spending power, that's how economies revive themselves, people making and spending money
Louis Fecci You do relies the government unregulating banks caused the banking industry to nearly collapse. Without the banks the world would turn into riot.
James Lindsay and who's fault is that then? ms. thatcher the milk snatcher, if we had maintained an economy based on resources rather than fictional exchanges of fictional money we wouldn't be fucked
Ofcourse its Thatchers fault however banking without fictional money doesn't work. Its only when the media spread mass panic does fractional banking not work such as the northern rock.
When I went to work in Switzerland Tourism, there was no such thing as a 40 hour week (late 60's - 70's) Then I worked for a French Company till 1995, Days Off (if you were Lucky), come and work in Spain and see What Benefits you get, You don't un-employment unless you have Paid in, it varies depending on how long you have paid in, the Max is Two years.
No! But if you see something on the floor you pick it up. It's - it's like an ingrained thing. I wouldn't pick something up that is very questionable and I don't know what I am touching. That would put me off a bit but the point Katie is making is that you don't just walk past a can of pop or a sandwich box shoved into a bush. If we all did that and relied on those people on community service our world would be a tip.
I was a cleaner at a shopping centre for a year and a half and part a quite predominant part of my job was cleaning loos 💩 But I really really I don’t have any objections to picking up litter but this young lady shouldn’t be FORCED into doing anything that she doesn’t want to do Katie Hopkins
Working for your money is a completely alian concept to a lot if young people unless it involved taking selfies or tweeting, they have got a shock coming when their mummies cut the apron strings.
