The Tai competitor who was in Nigerian wardrobe was stunning. Yeah the parents have a problem with it until that little boy grows up and starts making a lot of money as a Katoyi. I commend the Katoyi because they arent confused and know exactly who and what they want to be. They arent suffering from mental illness and identity crisis
Children at school have a long way to go before they are mentally mature,so as to understand the consequences of their thoughts,aspirations and actions....it cannot possibly be correct in any way to either condone, reject or lead them on to follow a path related to their sexuality...
@@edwardlulofs444 No they're not, not all of them. A few have that mental issue built into their DNA sure, but definitely not ALL of them.. a good 90% of them are influenced externally. There's such a high count over there because it's almost become part of their culture, you wouldn't find anywhere near as many kids doing this in other countries, as it's not blasted infront of them every day.

Just as there are physical deformities, there can also be hormone deformities. It happens all over the world. Thailand just chooses to embrace it more than other countries. It is not bad or sick. God made us all just the way we should be.
Mostly semantics. There are trans kids and adults in both countries. Watch 23:10 for a minute and tell me that it isn’t “pushing on children” as the kid takes HRT while citing celebrity influence.

You want to compare teaching children with an officially drafted curriculum that they can be girls from kindergarten to a kid whos family is too busy and watched something on TV? Watch some other documentaries on this, several interviews with Katoeys speaking about about how this is an adult decision given how life changing it is.
@@m.a6416 I don’t need to watch any new documentaries or interviews. My wife is a Thai trans woman. She transitioned early with HRT as did most of her trans friends just as you can clearly see in this video. That is true of the vast majority of interviews that I’ve seen also. The school in the video literally put in a transgender restroom which was packed with trans kids and accommodating trans kids is common all over Thailand now. The need for a formalized curriculum is silly when gender pluralism has been a part of Thai culture (and also in many parts of south Asia in general) for generations.
@@exnihilo415 And what does that have to do with pushing it on children. You can just visit Thailand once to understand their culture. Trans nurses to trans shop keepers and everything inbetween with no stigma and given how far ahead and socially accepted it is than in the west, there's a reason they didn't go full bonkers and teach that to children from grade 1. They know that maintaining social unity and not upsetting 99% of the population to cater to mental dysphoria is a good idea. They have a laissez faire attitude to it but within limits.

Bull. There is nothing pretty about these MEN. Just because they have a “curvy feminine figure” doesn’t mean they’re women. They are still very much men and nothing they do will change that. Even down to their body structure which I wouldn’t be surprised if that was altered as well.
They are showing how this should be in the our "neo-progressive" countries, they accept it as a 3rd gender, im also very pro-trans and for trans-rights altogether but trans women/men are not your avg. women/men, as the people in Thailand do it for specifying it as a 3rd gender is the perfect way to do it, they have their own toilets for it and everything and are also accepted by their people
There are actually vanishingly few trans toilets in Thailand. Thai trans women use the women’s restroom and generally refer to themselves in Thai with female articles and pronouns.

I try not to judge and I think that gender dysphoria is a real thing. The only problem I have here is the hormones being available for kids to buy without a prescription. Hormone therapy is a very complex area of medical study and treatment. There's no one size that fits all when it comes to that type of thing. Still, as with a lot of things, the younger you do something the more likely it's gonna "stick", but that can be a bad thing too. As in, when the body is still growing and developing, if something gets messed up, it will be harder to fix later. Symmetrically though, if you fix things early, get hormones balanced as they should be, then it is likely to stay that way. Bottom line is that it's great that Thailand is serious about inclusivity. The next step is the health aspect of the third gender.
I love getting another cultures take on trans folks. The idea of it being its own sex makes sense. I think it's great how accepting the Thai society is.
If you couldn’t legally marry your husband or wife would you call that society accepting? How about if you couldn’t legally adopt? How about being barred from a public business because of your gender? This is the state of legal rights for LGBT people in Thailand. There is vast social tolerance but it is a legal black hole. My Thai trans wife and I have been waiting the better part of 20 years to get legally married there. I hope her parents will still be alive to see the wedding when it is legalized. Her grandparents didn’t make it.

This doesn't disprove that you can or should change gender. Or there needs to be more than only two genders. Two genders for two sexes, and follow your own gender that correlates to your own sex. keep it simple and sane.
I don't think people understand that this has nothing to do with social inclusion and acceptance of these individuals' choices. Yes, there's a whole industry profiting and encouraging these individuals to follow this path. But in the end, who will be there to support them, to share their frustrations, disappointments, and when problems from using unadvised medication arise? People love to romanticize this situation, as if it were completely natural and not surgically and hormonally forced.

If they're interested in males, do they all acknowledge their nature before the male is convinced that they're not actual women? (if I should use some other term rather than actual women don't get offended, I don't mean to offend you) Is it considered a serious offense if they don't? I'm sure I'm not the only one who's heard jokes about people unknowingly coming into more contact with a ladyboy than they would otherwise. Plus, it seems like something that could happen.
@@ritishify We're talking about several hundred thousand Thai trans women, here. With any large population you're going to have a statistical distribution of behaviors. The vast overwhelming majority are going to let you know before things get physical since, odds are, that would be a waste of everyone's time and effort. Are there some exceptions particularly around Thai trans sex workers and drunk guys? Certainly. From my point of view one cannot simply assume everyone you run into isn't trans and thus in Thailand one should make it a point to find out by simply asking. Non trans girls aren't going to be offended as it's quite clear that ladyboys are quite glamorous. If you're using a dating site simply put that you aren't interested in ladyboys in the profile and problem solved. Happy to answer any follow-up questions, just ask.

I consider myself to be conservative, although I don't like labels, which is also why I'm trying to make the effort to understand this way of life. I guess that most people opposing this lifestyle are worried about the effect this may have on everyone else. I must admit I was a bit like that, but putting it to words made me realize how arrogant that is. To think that I know what's best for society. It seems to be a very small portion of the population anyway, as in, it can't make that much of a difference. A few individuals living a particular lifestyle, is all it is. I don't even really know why I care about this. I also think that I was biased by the media. I mean, if it's like 1% of the world population, why has the past few years everyone on the internet had an opinion about it? Nowadays, they report too much useless information everywhere. For example. hearing news about men competing in women's sports and stories of that kind was pretty distressing. They seemed to make a pretty big deal out of it (although it was important to some proportion). But I guess the world is gradually adapting the best it can, and things can change more than once. Maybe it's also just that I'm a heterosexual male, so it will always be kind of a mystery to me, this whole thing. But it's nice to have the internet for once do what it's intended to and allow for the free exchange of ideas like this, even though we didn't talk much, you gave me some good perspective from your side. @@ritishify My Thai trans wife and I have been together now for 22 years. We're legally married in California. She's legally female. The county clerk said, "I now pronounce you husband and wife." We're middle class and work white collar office jobs. She's a US citizen now. I met her working in a Thai restaurant in the US while she was here on a student visa, we started dating, fell in love and the rest is history aside from writing big checks to immigration lawyers, years of waiting and paperwork, and hostile jerks at USCIS. I certainly don't think I'm any better or any worse than anyone else living around me. We pay our taxes and are saving up for retirement in Chiang Mai in about 8 years which was considerably easier since we don't have and don't want kids. I know exactly why there is such breathless talk about what 1% of the population like my wife are up to. First, it's a way to energize and capitalize conservative voters to get them to the polls and monetize their outrage with views and likes. It's the Bush / Karl Rove anti-gay marriage playbook only with trans people instead of gays. Find the most outrageous trans examples online, put the biggest spotlight on those fringe issues and talk about them negatively nonstop. Second, it consequently allows the left to villainize conservatives for anti-LGBT sentiment and consequently fund-raise around it and also gin up the base. Everyone makes hay while the bullets fly over my wife's head, nonstop, and I get to worry who's possibly clocking my wife and is still red faced from watching some rightwing trans hate screed online and decides to beat down my 120lb wife because she's ruining America. Want to know a secret? The vast majority of trans women, my wife included, actually hate sports because it's actually not seen as feminine at all. I'll be happy to retire with my wife to Thailand and let the junk yard dogs of both political establishments rip each other apart in a proto civil war. I'm no neo liberal by any means and am a straight father but i think you are either male , female or which ever of only those 2 you feel you are or want to be. I think gender Dysphoria is real. But everything in good time , leave the kids a lone and just be sure in what you decide.
What they are trying to document here is another culture . This did not happened there because it;s '' trendy'' .....it's a bit more complex. On the other side the whole gender neutral thing and etc in the western society being brought up at very young ages is unacceptable . Or it should be . When I was a child none of us boys wanted anything else than car toys , guns , swords , technical stuff ,bycicles etc . Whitch we would happily trade among us when we got tyred . Nobody would consider a doll as a valid change . I see a strong trend in this stupid direction , especially in northern countries . That was always a sign of decay in human history and a sign of a civilization whithc was at it's end . Ours as well , probably , whitch might bre for the bst in a certain perspective . Anyway , coming back to Thayland ...it might be some different hormonal balance in a larger population that our european average . A more medically documented study would be required in order to get to valid conclusion.

Bones don't actually talk. If one suppresses testosterone during puberty and then goes on HRT it becomes quite difficult to differentiate. All of the masculinizing features you're looking for don't occur. Look up someone like Yoshi Rinrada to see what I mean.

Everybody is not free to do whatever he/she wants cause there are some rules in every situation. Why you can't take tank for transport? You won't be able to enter army bases without permission. So transgender cannot be a wish.
