Glad they talkd about the internship programme, thats exactly how you tackle a gap in your coaching. You create something that develops and cultivates talent thats already there and create a path to actually be in contention for the position. Great.
Great bunch of girls! Great display at Twickenham! So lovely to watch! I wish, if I had my time again, that I had played rugby...I played cricket and other sports, but there wasn't the encouragement or interest for any women games then☹️ but hay ho, I'm glad there is now 😀

Given the physicality, fitness, commitment, skill etc. of this England set-up, why don't they ever seem to dominate the set-scrum? The French - much lighter - pushed us around, so did the Welsh (sometimes) and the Irish. There's something technically missing with the set-scrum, which needs to be fixed before the world cup. Just to add: Ellie Kildunne is unbelievable - and at last we have a brand-new, potentially world-class, number ten.
Regarding Ellie Kildunne, she's a 15, and possibly when Emily Scarratt retires a 13, not a 10. We have 2 possible world class 10s apart from KDM, with Helena Rowland looking the favourite for that Jersey long term. The roses scrum is usually rock solid and extremely powerful, but due to many front row injuries at the minute, and the fact the womens league in England has virtually done away with scrums due to Covid this season, they're going to have very little chance of getting hardened off for the scrums. It doesn't matter how good you are technically in the front row, it takes a few games to put everything together.
if little girls only ever see men coaching they don't associate the idea or possibility of coaching with themselves. if we don't have girls actually wanting to get into coaching we lose half the potential coaching intelligence in the entire world
So it's official, World Rugby have postponed the world cup until 2022. The question is can Sunter, Mo, Scazz, Marlie and Lydia Thompson still be the best in the world by the end of next year, or do we use the next 6 nations to polish their replacements?
I have always believed that selection must be made according to form and not previous performance. The Allianz Premier League is brimming with good young talent who are having to play with and against top players from Canada, USA, Spain etc. I just hope that Simon Middleton has the courage to give them a chance. Look at KD-M's potential successor for example, Helena Rowland and Megan Jones, they are both on fire at the moment and to me, it would take a brave man to select Zoe Harrison over them. I remain very optimistic for the future of the Red Roses.
@@SandSMat indeed. Current form plays a huge part, but the additional things those players have alot of is international experience, handling tight games. This particulr game was a prime example. So far Helena Rowland has shown great potential to replace Katy. There's a number of players sat in the queue ahead of Harrison for the No10 spot, and that's why Middleton never plays her there & she ends up as a centre. The question for Harrison is her future. She is good on a domestic level, but internationally many say she's overated & should not be on a contract
@@1Molehill Yes, I can understand SM's perseverance with ZH as she was, apart from Emily Scott (perhaps) the natural successor to KD-M but with the stoppage of the 7s programme releasing HR and MJ ( and there is no questioning their international experience) she been eclipsed by them. As I have posted on numerous occasions, I could never understand SM playing ZH at centre. Mo Hunt is playing as well as ever so looks good for the World Cup and in any case I would have no issues with Leanne Riley or Claudia McDonald. Serious thought must be given to SHs' successor as she is rapidly approaching the end of her wonderful career. HM-M, PC and ZA would be my choices. I have a feeling that Lydia Thompson is not going to make it as she hasn't played for a while (injured?) but Jess is coming back into form. Abby Dow for me is a cert.
