Here in Nordrhein Westfalen, Germany I have not seen anybody wearing a western hat, only I do. I have nothing in common with the Germans, even that I am German too. I love the American style. I use to live in America for 20 years. The lady does a great job forming the hat, I like her just by watching the video. Leave a good tip guys.
Katy's a great shaper/blocker! American Hat Company products are of incredible quality. One thing I'd like to see come back to Cowboy Culture, though... Are UNIQUE and INDIVIDUALIZED hat creases. Used to be that we could tell right off who was across the dance hall or Arena, just by the crown of their hat. And that "Shovel Front" on the brims is overused these days, too... It really doesn't suit EVERYONE. But, that's just this oldster's 2 cents. Be safe, everybody.
My friend Randy Priest is a hat maker in Donnelly Idaho, and said the same thing about 20 years ago. Different states, regions, Montana, Oregon, Nevada, etc. all had a regional styles, almost per County. You could tell where somebody was from by their hat. Now, it seems the "Internet" style is most common ... heh heh ... whatever the toughest rodeo king is wearing ... but, I'd say there are definitely still some cultural trends, depending on where you live, and who is shaping the hat. South America, Mexico, etc. all have a certain feel and style. Plus, after 5 years of grabbing and wearing a felt hat, it gets molded to your hands and head, and most people who don't know you recognize you just by your hat.
