Kavita has come a long way in the 8 months since my first video. And the development is still ongoing. In this video I show you the main Kavita website and the Wiki where you can find all kinds of great information on how to install it and use it. I'll be releasing two more videos in this series soon. One is how to install Kavita using Docker and a Portainer Stack. The second will be how to update Kavita when new versions are available... Please let me know what you think in the comments. And my apologies for any flaws in the video. I've moved to another state for a new job and I'm not quite setup for using the good camera and lights. (Small apartment.)
Edit: Forgot to mention that PDF is now supported. That's a big change since the first video.... So if you were on the fence, time to try it out.

Hi there, Allen. It would be really appreciated you make a tuto on how to setup Kavita Email with own smtp service, since default one does not support send to devices (Kindle, etc). In Docker containers (i.e. using kavitaemail and port 5003)

I do have some info on that process on my forum. However there were recent changes to Kavita and Kavita email that required some config changes. So I don’t have that new info up on the forum yet. When I can do another video I’ll make one on this topic.

Many of my pdf files are scans. Can you create a video showing how Kavita handles these files ? I am guessing the pages will be shown as images. Also, is it possible to highlight or take notes on the pdf pages ? Thanks

Kavita is now using a different engine under the hood for PDFs. I think it works pretty good. If you aren’t already running Kavita you should try the Demo on the website www.kavitareader.com/#demo There is a Manga Library and the first Series in there in there is in PDF. Open that up and have a look at the new PDF features.

@@AllenSampsell just installed Kavita docker on my NAS and I am really liking the built in features. UI is a lot cleaner then ubiquity, looks much better on my tablet and best of all, its got API that i might be able to import to android apps for more native feel. Now I just need to find a way to speed it up. The app keeps hanging for a few seconds every now and then. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Cheers.
