For anyone who wants to know... Episode 189's storyboard and direction was done by the Legend Hiroyuki Yamashita (Responsible for Madara vs alliance, Naruto vs sasuke pt.2 and many many others) , and the artstyle is done by Ichiro Uno , who gave us this fire manga design characters. This episode is gonna age like wine 🍷 no cap

Kawaki vs Garou won best fight of 2021 on Crunchyroll. This fight is the proof that the Naruto/Boruto franchise can pull off a top tier battle whenever they want if the studio decides to do it, I mean, this shit was like just 5 pages in the manga, and the anime turned it into one of the best of the series.

Duh, because you can make pretty much everything in the anime, that's not in the manga. Look at Naruto vs Sasuke. In the manga, they went straight to god mode and in the anime, they atleast had some normal fight in the beginning

@@thetruth997_ This is somewhat true but no one accounts for the fact that Boruto barely has double spreads or single spreads. There are more panels on each page which means more content. It’s essentially the same as having a couple more pages but with bigger panels. The same amount of progression is going on in 40 pages of Boruto as 60 pages of another series that is drawn and paneled like most manga.

This was a great way to introduce such a dope character. The animation change and fight was elite, loved how the shading of each character looked. At one point during the start of the fight, they paid homage to Kakashi vs Obito if you notice. It was the same choreography for a second. Fun fact the voice actor for Kawaki is also the same guy who voiced Fushiguro from Jujutsu Kaisen.

If you’re wondering why the artwork is also different along with the animation for a few of these episodes, it’s because the separate animation team they bring on for fights wanted to make all the characters look like they do in the manga, who’s artwork is slightly different from the anime.

To clarify, unless yall already rewatched it, in the first episode Kawaki said "I'll send you where I sent Lord 7th". This already leaves alot of speculation about whether Kawaki killed Naruto or simply sealed him away or sent him to another dimension, because Naruto doesnt have any kind of Time-space ninjutsu and can't escape. If you're caught up you would realize that there's literally no way Kawaki would ever willingly kill Naruto

Actually, Naruto can escape from a different dimension. He can use a reverse summing to go to mount myoboku. He simply couldn't do it in the anime because all his Chakra was drained fighting Isshiki.

This episode has very similar vibes to when kakashi killed rin and obito went rage mode, only other episode with as much gore. especially the wood in the mist ninjas chest was very similar to kawaki putting his ninja tool tree type thing through goros chest.

Usually I would disagree with Rob but he is actually right on this one, saying that "Naruto started in shippudden" is disrespectful as you aren't taking into account the hours that the staff and author had put so much hard work into making the series. It's true that we got a lot of information in shippudden but that is never where the show started, I feel like you're only saying that because of the fights and animation.

The whole “story just getting started” thing could be a positive or a negative. The negative way as y’all discussed is saying the show was trash or mid before this point. The positive way is saying how this show was already good but now it’s turning up to another level with so much more plot to be had. Thats true. I agree with them, its a offensive sentence, and it doesn't match with Wellz energy. It was the wrong thing to say, even with his energy. To say what he said means that prior to this episode, you felt nothing of those episodes and moments. If I say "you're balling now" with your first NBA game, its also saying that you weren't balling before. College, Highschool, that was nothing. The overall story of Boruto is about the relationship between parent and child as you can see and how you can't escape your genes. Boruto, Sarada, Mitsuki, and Kawaki all have a specific problem with their fathers that they have to overcome to rebuild the relationship. You've already seen the main 3 kids. Now it's time to see Kawaki battle that. And it's going to be a crazy ride. I don't know how the story will progress past this because the Manga is slow af, but the story up to this point filler and anime Canon included is about parent child relationships. After this Kawaki arc, it's more focused on Boruto and Kawaki's relationship.

With the recent chapter, it will be another turning point and another failed promise of Naruto to Boruto (remember their moment a top the mountain). Once Boruto knew what is happening to him, boy has been if not joined Jiraiya, Itachi etc. sacrifice wise. Boy wouldn't waste a second to kill himself to protect the world from Momoshiki's re-emergence. Going back with the new chapter, he isn't completely dead (Boruto) but rather his start of his rogue/missing nin days like Sasuke. He could either turn off his chakra signal to avoid getting detected and keep Naruto safe. I hate that we would have to wait 2-3 months for Naruto, Hinata, Hima, Sasuke, Sakura, Sarada, Konohamaru, Mitsuki, etc. with the news of Kawaki "killing" Boruto. Other than Naruto, Hinata, and Hima, I'm looking forward to Sasuke and the remaining Team 7 reaction. This could have Sarada awaken her MS but probably not. She will probably hope that Boruto has something on his sleeve but her reaction along with Mitsuki is interesting.

The writers of Naruto & Boruto are masters of building up a story and getting ur emotions involved with the characters, their backstory, family, ancestry lol-all for a certain moment when ur on the edge. Naruto was Naruto before Shippuden. Yes Shippuden advanced the plot and had all the lore but Naruto was the footing that made learning everything hit that much more. Building beloved characters, creating an engaging world and essentially creating the hype for the akatsuki. That’s like saying One Piece really started at the War Arc.

I'm sorry guys but I didn't wait 180 episodes to see Kawaki, yes it was an epic entry, but I always followed because of Boruto, I want to see him evolve because he is the protagonist, I follow the evolution of the world and the protagonists , so you can't say that the anime only started because of the introduction of a new character, in fact the introduction of Kawaki adds even more development to Boruto who has been treated very differently from what naruto was, that's what I love about him, is to see how he will become one of the greatest ninjas without following a path similar to his father

I agree w Rob that to say the series was just starting is in essence saying f the rest of the show. The show established and built up Boruto and Team 7 as well as side characters and storylines that led to this moment. I feel like it established itself as it’s own show separate from Naruto by giving all the extra anime-canon. Had Wells and Jerry not seen Kawaki at the beginning episode they wouldn’t say that they felt like it was just starting
