Hello everyone! Today, we are going to show you another idea for crumb busting ideas that may turn into your favorite way! It is fast, easy, and makes an exotic quilt. And, it is a lot of fun!

A rubber "thread puller" looks like an asset for this project. Just a circular disk of rubber, it works a charm.

Brenda, I've seen, Margaret Fabrizio, use her needle-nosed pliers to pull her thread & needles through the layers. I think I would have to do that as well b/c of my hand & finger issues. I watched about 30 videos for Kawandi today. This was the first one I watched and now I'm returning to it because of the excellent instruction. PS: it took me about 9 attempt to master the knot making, but I finally got it.

@andreapiedmonte1954 Same here. Look up Margaret Fabrizio (atree3) she has a kawandi playlist which includes meeting the Siddi women and shows their quilts, which are a very different style than what the internet morphed these into.

Hey Brenda, I’m on my journey to learn “slow stitching”. First, after I watch this video I WILL practice making the knot. I’m going to work with DMC Pearl Cotton number five or eight. My end goal is to be able to do this “hand stitching” w/o swearing🫢! I appreciate your CLEAR instructions and now know what kind and size needles to try. This is perfect for me, love to have something to hand sew while watching TV with the hubby. I am thinking that I could do a bunch of these this size then sew them together with a whip stitch or by using strips sewed to both sides to make a larger quilt. Endless possibilities. I just finished my first kawandi piece, a similar size to yours. I love it; but I knew as soon as I finished that I needed more training. So, when I found your demonstration this morning I was so happy. There were a bunch of things you did that I only guessed at how to accomplish. Love this. Made a small one by machine. Lives in the kitchen covering our Seal A Meal, so it’s not a total waste. Used a scrap of decor fabric for back - wrong! Too thick, didn’t press well but I learned a lot. Am planning a hand stitched one next. Thanks for your great vid!

Just learned about this technique. Seems like it would be easier to start with a piece of batting/flannel already to the size you need it then iron over the edges and then start sewing pieces. That way you wouldn't have to tuck it in after the first round. (Especially iron on batting) But I don't know, I've never done this before. But I'm going to try it. The flannel or any batting you choose to work with goes in after the first round of scrap fabric is added to the outer edge of the quilt. You can also sew your smallest pieces together to make little crumb blocks and add these in as a piece of fabric. I hope you have a beautiful week ahead! I HAVE found that players really help if you have many stitches on your needle at one time..

Hello Carmen! I'm delighted that you like this video. I agree that sometimes you just need a special tool to grab that needle.
