Very nice ST bike. Having a shaft is a very good thing. Enjoyed your review. From the thumbnail it was a very familiar one, I mean following Hachewie, I recognized his bike. :)
An ECU flash from Ivan resolved the heat issue. His flash runs the fans quicker and faster. It also increases the redline and on 2010 and up smooths out the jerky throttle response and increases rev limiter on gears. Also removes the max speed limiter on 2010 + models (my 2008 has no limiter) I love my bike a lot more after the flash
Glad you enjoyed the vid. Bikes in Australia used to take a nose dive in value when they passed 20k on the odometer., good for the buyer that did not fear a bike with higher milage.
Kawasaki are a great company, I do love how they just play the game of one-upsmanship. Haha the poor eco light would never be seen if I was riding it 😂😂 I've been told I rev my Strom too much already 😂 My fz6 was the same, I do hate when temps are just sky high always made me nervous! The CBF didn't have a temp gauge which was a good and bad thing 😂 50-60k km is nothing for that engine once its been looked after! Great review on a great bike owned by a great auld creature :) You packed a hell of a lot in to 10 minutes :)
Great review. I ride a K1600GTL. It is a beast around the parking lot. I think that it weights about 400 KGs fully laden. The bike is also expensive to maintain. My next service as at 18K miles ( I ride in the US) and it is going to cost me USD2000. I am coming over OZ in 2024 (I am a expat), but I will be looking for a FJR to ride. I like the GTR< but it doesn't have cruise control and I am an old codgier.
Thanks for that. Just bought an early GTR 1400 with good service history. Not in possession until next week but looking forward to getting off my Paneuro 1100 before the swing arm snaps 👍😎
It’s a beast of a tourer, very cool bike! Wow it’s heavier than I thought, you’re right, once it’s up and going you don’t notice the weight as much. Nice how you and Chewie swapped bikes and made these reviews Cheers 😎
Always nice to get another opinion of your bike. Also having a fresh set of eyes on it, sometimes people notice things that may be an issue, but you have just got used to them.
I got one last year, blue 2013, was slightly disappointed till I got a v-stream windshield and a full Delkevik exhaust and ecu flash.... Ohh yeah!!! Unleash the beast!!! Amazing.!!.
@@michaelbrocklehurst2549 well, when I got it, it had a short Delkevic slip on in place of the enormous stock muff. I didn't like the blat sound from the short pipe but the quality of the piece seemed good. The mid pipe fit, all the fittings lined up, ect. So I looked at their website and found the prices reasonable. I think the complete header with a new longer slip on was under $400? Don't quote me on that, the headers were well made, good welds, fit right on without a hitch ! Much larger diameter pipe and no cat..combine that with the derestricting ecu flash and the bike just floats when you pass 6000rpm.
Thanks for the review mate! Im a bigger guy, 6'3 and 100kg. How would you rate them for daily commuting on the motorway way, shoet distances, bout 40 min each way. Cheers
Always had Kaka's, LTD250, GPX250, GPZ900 and now this bike. The baggage area for touring is awesome !! Very comfy bike. Love the smooth power and the tail shaft. The heavy weight takes a bit of getting used to. You just have to keep it upright always when at traffic lights.
Howdy, sorry, but right before the 2 minute mark you already quoted two wrong figures: the 2010 didn't get any extra horse power. Engines are identical. And the top speed is 270 km/h in the '08-'09 models, while '10- forward are electronically limited to 250. These are GPS values, with bags, without bags, screen down or up, no difference. Later on you mentioned "massive upgrades" for the 2010 and on. The so called "upgrades" are rather minor, and some of them are not upgrades at all, quite the contrary (hence the quote sign), like the removal of the glove compartment over the tank. Somebody would call that a massive downgrade. Carry on.
I have had a 2010 C14 for 11 years now.I do lot of hwy riding I have done an 1100 km day and many 600 -700 km days. On the hiway in 6th gear 130 kmh or 70mph is around 4000 rpm. This bike will do that speed all day.
