For those of you w/o an impact wrench, save yourself some grief and undo the counter-sprocket nut before removing the chain. And even if you do have an impact wrench, still undo the nut with the transmission in neutral and using the chain and the wheel to help, instead of hammering the transmission. I know it's strong, but why take chances? Also, that master link could use a bit more grease imo.
Truly hilarious: the ‘BMW Guy’ telling me how to wrench on my KLR. The only relation my KLR has to Beemers is I can ride into town to get them parts, when those overpriced, over-engineered boats inevitably break down.
