Kawasaki KRX 1000 - Full Access UTV Transmission skid plate installation
My version of the Full Access UTV Transmission skid plate install. Not near as pretty as Jake's video but again, if I can do this, you can do this! I think the thing to take away from my install is to make sure your factory plate is smoothed out or as close to factory shape as possible. I know my videos are slow and I'm a dork - oh well. If I help one person then yay! If I don't, then still yay!

HAHAHAHA I hit my head on the muffler too and gave myself a little crescent moon cut on the forehead!

I went with the Kawasaki full skid plates when my car was new. We also added the rock sliders on the sides. I would definitely make sure those Allen head bolts are flush with the skid plate so it doesn't snag on something and cause damage.

Did you add the steel plate as well? I watched some demonstration videos that showed the plastic based skid plates still bend and where the transmission is located, will bend enough to cause damage. I am working on getting the full skid plate and will have it before my next rock crawling trip!

@@KRXBrandon yeah...we did that also. We don't do a lot of rock crawling but even still, we have tons of marks all over the Kawasaki added skid plates. Definitely glad we did the full protection package every time I see the bottom of our car. The KRX is too soft in the rear for our kind of riding, constantly bottoming out over jumps, even when compression adjustment is set to full stiff. Eventually we will probably upgrade to a shock therapy spring set.

Hey Brandon, that plate was a total PITA to install. I have big hands and it was about impossible for me to get those nuts on the rear bolts. I recently had to take it back off to replace the carrier bearing housing (preventive maintenance, only 80 miles on my KRX). Luckily my girlfriends daughter was over and she helped out with smaller hands 😉 Last thing to do is get Trail Armor skids and cover the entire bottom. Hopefully that will be the last time I have to take anything off underneath for a while. 👌

Heck yeah! I keep hearing about the carrier bearing... It is on my list I'm just tired of taking it all apart!

@@KRXBrandon Exactly! I swear every time I install something I have to tear apart 1/2 the stuff I already installed! 😂 I'm trying to do it in the best order I can think of, but you never know until you start doing the job.

You could if you have the skills! But, if you needed to access anything under there it would be super difficult to get to. May void the warranty? Lots of unknowns but not something I tried bc it just was not an option for me.
