I really liked your review, quite frankly one the best. I liked how you cut in footage of the machine in the desert driving as you did the review. It wasn’t just footage of you standing in front of a machine and reviewing it. Keep up the good editing, and riding footage! Stay safe.
Nice machine! I wouldn’t worry too much about the belt Kawasaki’s setup is a bit different from Polaris and Can Am and is typically pretty durable. The only downside is it seems to operate at a high rpm most of the time whereas the ones without the centrifugal clutch cruise at a lower rpm at least in my experience. It makes for a louder ride in the centrifugal units. Agree with you on the roof too, machines aren’t getting any cheaper that should be standard.
Like your choice of the new car. We bought one of these in November. Been real happy with it so far. Granted it only has 2000 miles so far but totally trouble free. At some point you are going to wonder if the belt temp gauge even works. We pulled a friend out of the boondocks up and down and over hill and dale for 18 miles in low range 4 wheel drive on the end of a Yankum Rope and never got the belt hot. The dang thing is a beast. If you have enough guts just point it and walk through it in low power. The low power option is your friend
I've heard this rig has been designed after a trophy truck's geometry. The only other machine in this category is the wildcat xx. Both have ultra plush suspension.
I just picked up my (white) KRX today. I’ve been in the hobby side of Jeeps since the mid 60’s and the business end since the early 70’s, and still involved in that aspect to a certain degree. From the early 70’s ATC’s, Quads and one SXS. I was ready to pull the trigger on a SXS last June until I found out the Kawasaki was coming out with their sport model for sure in October. I decided to wait and see and after way to much research (according to the wife) and lots of info from business associates in the SXS industry decided on the KRX. I just ran across your Channel ( and subscribed) and will be very interested to follow your experience. One last note, I eliminated the Honda from my search over a year ago, based on info from people in the industry. The problem is not running ramped, but let’s just say you’re definitely not the Lone Ranger with your Talon engine problem. Great vid to start the ball rolling.
Thank you very much for update on Talon, very informative . I just bought a X4 live valve and had to check airbox after watching videos about it. All clean! The KRX is bad ass looking forward to seeing more of your videos
Hey Ray, Thanks for the update. Too bad with the Talon, I was really looking forward to getting a Talon myself but after your experience I was wavering. You are right, August is way too late, they should have just replaced your machine, not like they didn't have any sitting around. But enough about that. The KRX looks great, I agree, should have come with a roof, however, you are getting better tires with bead locks, better trailing arms full doors and a bigger battery. In my estimation probably about 2k up on that side? I would suggest installing a CVT belt cooling fan, nice that they included the CVT belt temp gauge. I'm torn still. Tried and true CVT vs. DCT??? Class is still out for me. Oh forgot to mention, the low power button reminds me of my OLD Isuzu Trooper that came with an "ice" button that you would use on icy roads, when the button was pressed you could stomp on the accelerator and the vehicle would move at a very controlled pace, no tire spin. It was great. Sounds like a function that you would use as you said in loose terrain where you don't want to spin the tires. Thanks for sharing, keep the videos coming and stay safe out there, this Covid 19 is no joke!
I really enjoyed my KRX1000 rental in Utah. Not the fastest machine but definitely durable and plush like you mentioned. I wish it was less expensive than the RZR's but quality doesn't come cheap.
I look forward to your long term test and comparison vs the Talon. I had a 1k miles on my Talon X before trading to Talon R. Each machine has pro's and con's. Glad your back on the trail giving us honest feedback!
Right on man you picked the coolest one to replace. Your kinda riding it'll serve you well and I'll watch your journey and feedback comparisons. Good luck with the new machine !
I was looking at getting one of these soon! Thanks for updating us. Really looking at this because it seems like it was well built and I’m not trying to fix it every time I go ride
Great choice! We have the same Blue Teryx4 that you had, we love it and the Kawasaki quality. Will keep it until a 4 seat version of your new machine is available.
Good video I tried to wait for these to come out. I ended up with my can am sport xrc. I love my xrc no issues at all, I still want to drive a krx. My xrc does everything except whoops at high speed or steep deep sand at the dunes. Keep the videos coming.
Good to see you back in the saddle sorry to hear about the talon that's a bad Mark against Hondaif they can put those things together by the hundreds or thousands every month I'm sure they could have squeezed an extra motor somewherebut what counts is your back out there and making videos which I enjoy very much.
Only complaint is it's slowest large machine but it's faster than smaller machines....rumor is programmer frees it up some but kawi has built these and the older teryx to be a budget machine with great parts and easy maintenance I like to look at them like a raptor 350 and raptor 700 They are not a sportsman or grizzly but not a yfz race quad same goes for the kawi it's got more power and speed vs a work utv but not same speed as a turbo or rzr. Rides best on market besides a very expensive can am and artic fox machines but also using good shocks.
In the market soon and came across you channel. Super good content! I was struggling between the honda and the Kawasaki. Between the 2 what one really stands out to you. I Seriously leaning towards the Kawasaki..
Good review, but dang, what a sad situation that lead you to the KRX. I have a Talon X, and I'm sure that KRX feels like a limousine compared to the ride from the Talon! The Talons are very stiff from the factory, and I can't imagine why they made them so stiff. I've been told it's because of the federally mandated 25 mph steering lock test, but every manufacture has to pass that same test and most do it without making the suspension intolerable. I sent my shocks/springs off to Shock Therapy for the full Ride Improvement rework, and it's a thousand times better than it was. However, no one should be forced to go through that kind f effort and spend $1500 to get a ride in a SXS that doesn't rupture you kidneys! In fact, the Shock Therapy guys say the Talon has the stiffest ride of any stock side by side they've ever experienced! The KRX wasn't out when I bought the Talon, but had it been it would probably have been my choice since it's pretty much ideally suited for the riding I do most of the time! The only things that might have kept me from the KRX is the shear size of the thing that might have kept it from fitting in my trailers, the weight, which at 1900 lbs is awfully hefty even before you add any aftermarket accessories, and the fact that it is a bit under powered for it's size. I hope the Talon proves to be a good reliable machine, but they sure missed the boat on a few design elements! I'll be interested to see how you like the KRX after you've had it for a while!
I could probably do a verbal breakdown of the maintenance however I’m not able to do my own maintenance due my physical condition. But that actually sounds like a great idea for a video! Thanks
Dude put the seat belt on! I'm telling you from personal experience they all roll over at some point. Even if it's not your fault. A seatbelt behind your seat just to turn off the safety switch is not helping you.
well man, i was debating a 1000r honda and a krx 1000 for months. i picked up a krx 2 days ago! the deciding factor for me was kawi upgrading the knuckles. if you check out the video i just uploaded you can see the new knuckle design. i look forward to some more on your kawi. nice videos. - Joe
I'm in my 40's and have come to appreciate quiet trips. I'm used to my geared Honda atv's and dirt bikes where I tend to prefer to just lug a high gear for low rpm and exhaust noise. After much research I decided to give a 2020 wolverine x2 a try and its going to take some time to see if I can get used to all the extra noise a cvt has due to it keeping the engine higher in the rpm range to do anything. I wonder what your opinion is going from the talon to the KRX as far as noise especially for longer rides.
Great video. I want a KRX, wife wants Talon, so now thinking Wildcat XX to split the difference. We have a Roxor now and can't get rid of it fast enough.
I enjoyed the talon... however I had nothing but problems from day one... not sure if it was the first few models and they didn’t have all the kinks hammered out..it ended up being a big pain but so far the KRX has been awesome Coming up on 2500 miles
Hesters Motorsports I was put in a situation where the dealership had to take my Honda talon back in trade but I would definitely be open to some customizations in the future.
Wish I had the time to ride mine more I’ve got I guess 150 miles or so maybe more I love to ride but have to haul it aways to drive . I haven’t noticed any difference with the steering with diff lock on I have accidentally left it on and have drove miles with it on and noticed only noticed it was on cause I seen the red light on great review keep them coming
Transmission is fine. Just over 3500 miles, however experiencing spring sag. Having a suspension kit installed at Shock Therapy in Phoenix next month. Hard to get an appointment, they’re booked. Will put up a video after. Thanks
Sorry to hear about the Honda. That was a sweet machine in your previous videos. The KRX is nice too. Do you get much heat in the cab? I have a RZR 900S and it gets pretty warm during summer rides. Is that a 68 inch wide machine?
My apologies. I thought the Kawasaki KRX was the only Japanese sport side by side Using a CVT and centrifugal clutch. I know CFMOTO have offices in separate countries worldwide including Canada but I thought they based in China. I could be wrong I don’t know a whole lot about that company. Their vehicle designs look pretty sleek👍🏻
Talon was a good machine before my nightmare began. So yes, it has a ton of awesome technology. I guess for me the entire situation left a bad feeling of uncertainty in my head... As far as Kawsaki, my previous 4 seat Teryx gave me almost no issues. One of those admittedly caused by me installing lights that drew to much current and drained my battery.
Man me and a friend of mine bought ours together and mine has been great..... no issues whatsoever..... his on the other hand is a lemon...... a straight up piece of junk.... every time we go out his breaks...... it's been in the shop 4 times already for warranty work..... one way bearing..... axels.... an engine seal by the clutches...... radiator hose popped off the engine twice and bent an a arm and wasn't even doing nothing crazy...... and then this fourth of July weekend the motor blew up...... it over heated again and it didn't register the heat and he lost oil somewhere never did see a leak or nothing and not a drop of oil in the motor...... didn't notice it until it over heated and stopped running
Insane!! Sorry to hear that. I wonder if they we’re assembled by the same tech or the units came of the same Kawasaki production line? That makes absolutely no sense. I hope Kawasaki covers 100% .. Their have a history of Having one of the best customer service in the industry.. Curious what dealership?? Best wishes to you and your friends.
@@47rhorvath yeah man some guy I ran into at royal blue said he had issues with his also...... and said Kawasaki told him that it depends on your vin #...... some were manufactured very poorly and the other half supposedly got sent out the right way....... you basically have a batch of good ones.....and batches of bad ones
Sorry to hear Honda decided to handle it like this. I understand the situation with the Rona but it seems parts take long to get from them even before. At the end you are the average joe and expected to take the hit. Good on you for doing something about it. Did you get a partial refund? Trade in? Straight trade?
3 point seatbelts good enough though? Not really taking advantage of all the off roading capability and safety... looks like a nice big machine Hungarian.
either you grossly misunderstood or a salesman lied to you. the centrifugal clutch/cvt to the krx1000 is in NO WAY unique. Its a standard CVT. 2 clutches. a rubber belt. the only thing unique is the temp gauge.
Love your Full Auto G3 video!!! I think you misunderstood my statement..."Only Japanese Sport side by side using a with a Wet centrifugal clutch in conjunction with a CVT" The KRX uses a wet centrifugal behind the primary which engages the CVT at that point. Belt on KRX is alway tight, (unlike most other not all CVT"s ) and does not spin until the driver hits the throttle and the wet centrifugal clutch will then cause the actual CVT to then spin and push power to the system at that point. Thanks again. I want your gun!! www.utvguide.net/introducing-the-2020-kawasaki-teryx-krx-1000/
@@47rhorvath ooohhh i get whatcha mean. no idle position on the belt, which you are right produces a shit ton of useless heat. im here in phoenix, you ever wanna shoot some cool stuff hollar!
I don't have that cvt problem with my 1k. When I hit the throttle the power is there right away and I have 2500 miles on the original belt. 1 of the problems with the krx is lack of power and bc of the clutch system and its weight, u don't have power when u first get on it.
@@47rhorvath I do like the krx. For rock crawling and hill climbing and trails, I think the krx might do that stuff best. I'm still a big fan of polaris. I think they are the all around best machine. They might not do 1 thing better than another machine but for everything with out mods, I don't think they can be beat. I'd like to see some heads up comparisons between the 2 over a variety of things.
You mention the plush ride and the clearance. I agree total until the spring sag out and you lose your clearance, ride quality and bottom out your adjustments like mine did. Save your money on accessories. You will need to purchase springs soon. The seat hardware, sliders are wobbly and junk. Clutching and belt is great. Nice video.
Yeah I completely understand depending on where you live geographically some of my buddies have the same problem ........here in the desert southwest my machine is considered narrow
great video covered everthing I thought excellent do not take this wrong please next time wear a helmet teaches kids proper safety, and most importment safety for you thank you great video
Hi Ray . . . I just saw a great video on why the KRX rides so much better. Here is a link to that video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gEcqcJrxEdo.html
Power isn’t everything, especially when your Canam bottoms out on trail rides...I don’t even use all the hp my turbo makes on most rides, but it is definitely necessary at the dunes.
