I had one of these way back when '76, exactly like the one in this video. I loved it, and regular did 140mph on those long range roads in Texas without any special tuning or modifications. But again, as said, that was not really what the Kz750 twin was about. It was a solid bike, a joy to ride, and frankly I preferred the quite exhaust note. I'd love to have one today.
Hmmmm think a 140mph Z750 twin has a very optimistic speedo, or is off a cliff face with a good tail wind. I would be surprised if even a true 110mph is achievable.....
Nice one. Great sound, weird they never really sound that good in the saddle. You might not get one of these for chasing down a 10sec 1/4, but they can still scare a hatchback, or a peacock!
late 80 's had a 750 2cyl build from diverend z"s drove it a lot.....gave it in as a advance payment o a 1340 harley tour glide.....after a few mont's bought here back.....kept here several years sold her to a feinfs freif....sadly he totald her......still feel bad about selling here
Hi Gordon, It's just a standard cheap battery, I found the secret to be "NOT TOUCHING" the throttle when you try to start them, as soon as I touch the throttle the cylinders fill with air and the starter cant turn the engine over, There are starter motor rebuild kits available, ask on the " lonesometwin.com/ " website. Regards Mike J
All old Kawasakis are a bit asthmatic. I have two, a 1983 CSR 250 and a 1986 GT 750. both are the same, just close the choke a little bit, and press the start button for 3-4 seconds, and it will wake up, after it has idled for 10 secs or so, put the choke back to fully open. sometimes it might stop again, but it is just a matter of being patient and repeat the process 1 or 2 times. they always start, just wake them up gently. this will work as long as your carburettors are properly synchronised and tuned :)
The front pipes I made from standard 90 degree car exhaust bends and the silencers are universal megaphones bought off ebay then washers welded in the back to quieten it down. (I don't like noisy bikes)
It is quite a rare model, It stood in the showrooms alongside the KZ750 Four cylinder but with only Two cylinders it was by comparison slow and almost as expensive so not many sold. ( I was glad to get rid of this one! )
ive had 3 of them, 2 runners ,one parts, they can be made to go fast, enough, 130 mph, they can be bored out a mm, and planed down and then they come alive!
