Also a quick tip is never use nothing to tighten up your oil filter. Been a mechanic for 30 years and the best practice is always hand tight. For one tightening to tight can mess up the rubber seal and secondly the next oil change it will be alot harder to get off.
Z900 is a godsend we all got different levels of busy lives but when you can oil change right before you gotta leave for work that's saying something about the ease of use still want a Z1000 but out here where there's mostly Harleys Aprilias and Ducatis my town the Z900 stands out well
@@AndrewHartsock it doesn't really matter which is first. A lot less mess draining the pan before removing the filter. I've always removed the plug let it drain for a bit then remove the filter before installing the drain plug that way you ensure you get the most oil you can out of the engine because you still have a bit of excess oil in the filter and in the chamber area. But whatever works best for you everyone has a different way of doing things and as long as you have fresh oil and filter at the end of the day it's a success.
Great video! Straight forward =) I'm about to change my oil on my own for the first time on my 2023 Z900 (beginner rider) and your video gives me confidence to do it. Btw, everyone is talking about torq specs but where to you find this information? thanx
Bad advice. Don't ever tighten an oil filter with the nut if one is fitted to the filter because it may leak if the spot-welds fail. Only use the nut to help loosen the oil filter when replacing it. Some bikes may get oil on the tyres if the oil filter leaks.
@@AndrewHartsock The following is taken from the FAQ of K&N, Oil filter section: ( "- CAN THE NUT ON WRENCH-OFF® OIL FILTERS BE USED FOR INSTALLATION? No, the nut on Wrench-Off® oil filters cannot be used for installation, as doing so may cause serious damage to the filter. If you attempt to use the nut to tighten the filter on installation, you may end up over-tightening the filter or causing damage to the spot welds on the filter-which could result in cracking and leakage while the filter is in service. The nut is intended to be used for convenient removal only." )
Why you do the Service ?? The 1. Service Must be do from Kawasaki because the Warrenty. Also you dont get the Service sign in your Kawasaki Service Book. I do t get it. 😮
I’m not 100% sure that it voids the warranty, but I haven’t had any issues in many years of doing most of my bikes services by myself. Plus I just enjoy doing it
Horrible advice! The k&n filters have been exploding because people tighten them by the built in nut on them and it damages the integrity of the filter. You DO NOT TIGHTEN the oil filter with that nut, you ONLY LOOSEN IT when you are going to replace it. You should know oil filters only have to be hand tight. No tools needed.
I'm just curious why tell someone go to auto zone get oil.. visit your local kawasaki dealer... no kawasaki dealer auto zone won't sell u a z900 next time
