when i bought my 2020 z900, i purchased it from a dealer that was 350 miles away. i drove it home with a sore butt, but its capable. as far as luggage goes, i found a decent backpack does the trick.

I bought my '17 z900 with 800 miles from a guy who set it up for touring. Puig touring windscreen with a puig clip on extender which makes all the difference..it adds stability at high speed & the wind goes perfectly over my head (6'1). The ergo-fit seat adds height & padding which is a night & day difference from the original seat. Mirror risers to compliment the higher seating position. Michelin road 5 tires. Sw-motech pro blaze saddle bags & the attachment system. Also a sw-motech street rack with a detachable extension for a top case (which I don't have) that integrates very nicely with the bike. Other bells & whistles included sw-motech crash guard, puig front fork sliders & rear swing arm spools, custom footpegs, & SC race exhaust. The guy also threw in all the original parts, about 10 changes worth of oil & filters, & both front & rear paddock stands 😬. I love that I can switch from naked to touring in just minutes by putting on the windscreen & saddlebags. I've done an overnight trip from Los Angeles to San Diego without issue. I'm planning some longer distance trips in the near future. Phoenix & Las Vegas. IMO the z900 is an awesome bike & a touring sleeper.

Hepco & Becker also have a trick system for attaching a whole array of hard or soft bags.

One thing Z900 riders might consider. Hepco and Becker makes a rack that replaces the pillion seat. It latches up like the seat with a turn of a key. I think it's the Sportrack. Real German quality. Tie down slots on sides. For real long rides, I mounted a Rotopax adapter and put on a 2 gallon same brand fuel pack. Lots of surface area and doesn't stick out very far. Can go another 100 miles and put 35 liter bag on top. Rack looks cool and is very useful. Take it off in seconds and put back pillion seat. Very satisfied. Love Z900's!

Awesome vids bro. I bought my 2019 Z900 back in July and recently I used it for a 211 mile journey and it's super comfortable. I also have an R6 which I've used for the exact same journey in the past and I have to say that the Z is very comfortable and having heated grips is a must for those longer journeys. The only negative (from a personal perspective) is the seat becomes a little unbearable after a couple of hours but a short break quickly cures that. I strap a tail bag to mine whilst also using a backpack and these two alone were enough for me. I had to move the tail bag as far back as possible so that my 'gentleman parts' weren't so close to the tank lol but all in all I would do the journey again on my Z900. Your vids got a subscription from me :)

Good job on the Z900! That's a good days ride. A couple months ago I did a 616 mile ride in a day on my Z900RS (stock). It was a good days ride which included lots of interstate and in the rain for a few hours in heavy traffic going through Atlanta. My bike just shrugged it off like it was nothing. A sport tourer like FJR 1300A may be in my future as a second bike for touring but I'll never get rid of my Z900RS.

Solid video👍.A great hack for me in the longer rides is my Ogio Mach 5 backpack. You can actually push the back of the backpack against the pillion seat while wearing it and it turns into a makeshift backrest from time to time. Worked great for me on the longer rides (around 200miles)

Nice! I guess that’s one thing I forgot the mention… I hate wearing a backpack hahah

It is possible but the stiffness of the seat and lack of cruise control make it more difficult imo. Anything else, I can work with. But after 2 hours at most the seat starts killing me, and if it's free, boring road, can't get to rest my right arm ever. But as I've said, everything else, I'm fine with :)

I plan to do some short weekend camping trips on the Z. I bought a cheap 65L waterproof duffel bag from buddy bezos for about $70. It's surprisingly great quality, a ton of room for gear and even came with some pretty solid tie down straps. Sure it's no ADV bike, but it can take a bit of an adventure from time to time!

I took my Z900 from Columbus, Ohio to the Tail of the Dragon last year (~450 miles). Used the large viking tail bag and a backpack. Stopped every 1.5 hours or so to not get burnt out and took about 7-8 hours total. Didn't have a throttle lock so my hand hurt like a bitch. This year I'll have a Kaoko bar end lock which should make those freeway rides much more comfortable.

Been watching your videos lately as I plant to get a Z900 for my first bike. And this video could not have been more spot on for me. My brother lives in Phoenix and thought about riding to him potentially in the future. Cheers and ride safe

I’d recommend the fz07 or cb500x - way more easier to handle while understanding how biking generally works. Then upgrade the power when u think ur ready
@jessz900
@jessz900 Год назад
@@shneurkanar3871 yeah, I second this... it's not really a beginner bike. I'm not saying it can't be done but... maybe, consider some other options. Unless you have some experience under your belt.

i'd suggest a second hand bike as first bike tho, cause you'll definately drop your bike by some rookie mistakes they dont teach or warn you at the driving school. You dont want to drop a beautiful new z900 cuz you'll feel like you got something stuck up in the rear and you'll feel like hell.

This video just came as recommended in my feed. I just wanted to tell you that I just finished a 1500 mile tour over 7 days camping and riding on my Z650. I did like 4-5 hours riding every day and my biggest issue on a bike like the Z650 was a bit uncomfortable seat for touring and like you experienced with low windshield. I used soft luggage from Mosko Moto to avoid having to install a rack on the bike. The Z650 also only have like a wallet size storage under the seat.

Great job. I think this is a very well designed bike and with Shad hard bags it is a capable multi day cruiser… with only one exception… the seat. I’m on my third seat, now corbin. My problem is the angulation of the seat drives my crotch into the tank. So I elevated the front of the seat by installing the front on top of the frame rail and putting some foam cushioning there. Makes a world of difference and now also thinking of lowering links. Other than the seat which I think is quite good now, there is no finer more reliable machine. It runs like a sewing machine

Harley CVO? the kinds of stuff you can get from K1600GT or Goldwing or Ducati Multistrada for those prices... I used to get about 43 mpg on the '17 Z900 I once had.

The worst thing about a naked sport bike is if you have to do a long trip and the wind is blowing hard it can be real hard on your neck and shoulders. Did a 730 mile trip 75 mph into a 35 mph head wind on my old 919 and honestly wished I was dead. Loved everything else about it though.

No offense, but titles like “can you ride long distance on such and such a bike” are silly. I can ride (and have) 350 miles a day on my 07 Gixxer 600. Most people say “you can’t do that”, but you can if you have the will power and want bad enough. I love being on my bike, is it uncomfortable after 200 miles, yes, but I can still do it and do. Better to be on my bike than anywhere else. As for storage, I’ve strapped two large duffel bags on the back of the gixxer. Enough for 2 people for 3 days at the dragon.
