You picked up a bargain. The ZZR600 are terrific bikes. It would be well worth getting your seat reupholstered with gel inserts. Makes for much more comfortable time in the seat.
I would like to add that this motorcycle is stable even in rainy weather. It is a sport cruiser not a sportsbike, that is why it has the side clips on the seats for bungee cords.
I own this motorcycle but I have a 1996 version. I agree with everything you said about this bike even with the seat pushing you forward but you have to slide back once in a while. I bought it with 30k miles and put 30k more due to commuting. It is a reliable/cheap ride and it behaves nicely until you pass 10k rev then it is a beast. Mines is 25 years old no major issues just maintenance. Thnaks for review
Thank you for watching. I still have it and love it. I’m looking into a suspension upgrade and what I can do about the seat. Where are you located? There seems to be a lot of ZZR’s in the UK.
@@hachewie I live in Sacramento, Ca USA. I have 63,000 miles on this bike (still strong, starts at first or second crank) and I got every cent worth. I owned this bike for 8 years now. No leaks or major repairs (just chain and tires replaced) seat has no tears. It is cheap on insurance and low maintenance. I think it is cheaper to keep cuz my brother in law bought a 2003 (he bought new in 2002) yamaha R6 and he rode it for only 14,000 miles sold for a big loss. Wish i could be of help with the seat but I will only replace mine when it starts to rip. Keep up the good work.
Nice casual review matey. I've had my zzr for a few months now, a year older than yours, and agree with everything you said apart from your view on the seat. I'm the same height as you, perhaps I have a fatter arse and extra padding, but the seat is good for me. It's colder here in the UK so perhaps my nuts tuck up and aren't an issue either. I do love the sound it makes and find myself revving unnecessarily to share it with others!! Love it!!
I had the D2 1100, great bike. But I sure know these lil bad boys and their lil brothers (the 250 well) , they run well with no issues if you look afte them and the 600s go hard and hold their own to. Thanks for the trip down memory lane for the ZZR series. This beast will serve you well, great Kawasaki motors and engineering in both the 600 and the 1100
Still one of my favorite body styles and love the cargo hooks and glove box! That looks like an awesome windscreen too. Fitted with accommodation for a guitar makes it even sweeter!
If I ever had a liter bike, the Red and Black 1990 ZX-10 would be a dream. I love that they put that graphics scheme on the new 40th anniversery Ninja 650! I just tried to find the old "Kickstart My Heart" vid that showed that bike.....and it no longer exists....like disappeared!!!@@hachewie
@@hachewie its all a learning curve. im not a mechanic but worked closely with service department in a bike shop and do my own gear unless needing a special tool. got good contacts too. ever get stuck let me know can figure it out
I had a 93 one with the teal and black paint, it looked great in that colour, rode back from Newcastle at night in the pouring and rain and kept dry I was amazed, I also blew off a Honda 600F4 at the lights at Manly Vale near KFC he got a slight jump on me but the ZZ hauled him in at around 100k, this was 20 years ago. Wish I had kept it as I think it was the best road bike I ever owned I got used to the seat, loved the engine and it was cheap to own and so practical. I never was caught speeding on it but I don't know how and I guess that was why I sold it, I need a slower bike as I can't help myself and anything with the power of one of these.
Thanks mate. I love it. It has more power than I know how to use. I want to upgrade the seat and suspension then the brakes. I don't think I ever want to see it go but I think I need a bigger bike eventually. It does rip at 10K revs. Very fast 600 bike.
@@hachewie Thanks I have a Ducati 600SS in my garage and my father's 1928 Indian but I haven't ridden for ten years, but have been looking at bikes online in the lockdown and keep coming back to ZZR600 other bikes I have thought about start to cost a bit too much and need insurance at around $800 a year and I have a teenage family too. With the Kwaka you can ride it with just 3rd party and they are so reliable my one had 50,000 on it and I put another ten on it without any problems whatsoever, just servicing, thanks mate I will look very seriously at getting one when the lockdown is over.
@@bbkingwasthegreatest711 Holy smokes. 1928 Indian. Awesome. When buying a ZZR, just like any 2nd hand bike, check the oil is clean, fork seals etc are all good. Make sure the thermo fan comes on.
Just bought a 1994 zzr 600 but the bike is a bit of a wreck. Like you I paid next to nothing for it, £600 but it runs rough. Rode it 250 miles in the pouring rain to get it home and it cut out twice. found the plugs as black as coal and there was no coolant in the tank. The revs are far to high and wondered what yours ticks over at. Just give it a service but need to adjust the carbs.
G’day mate. My bike idles at 1500 revs. I hope it’s an easy fix. With the cutting out in the rain, check out the rectifier/regulator (left side, under the fairing near the seat. Check there’s no burnt out wires. Happened to me in the wet too.
Super sexy slow mo’s, nuts on the tank, bikeporn 🤣🤣 great review and re-do 😃 she’s a quick fun bike and love the duel camera vlog Chewie, sorry been away for a couple of days 😃👍
... and by the way, you never need apologise. We will meet once all this shit is over. I’m coming down south next year or early 2022. Phillip island gp.
Nice bike and great video 👍, I have owned 2 ZZR's since 08. Sadly I haven't ridden since 2012 and my current bike is in pieces and I really must sort it out.
@@hachewie well I have quite a lot of work to do but fingers crossed I can make some progress with it. I hope to get the engine back in this year. Some of the parts i need are expensive though.
Ah the fabled bike washing, I've heard it could be done but have never seen it :P Hahahaha the nuts on the tank thing I have found with some bikes :P Just have to always ride really fast to keep them back eh :P Centre stands are the unsung heroes of the bike world really. SO useful. Great job on the remake man :) Get new gloves for the love of bike :D
Ah the memories, I haven’t driven around thems roads for a while, was kinda hoping you were going to head up to the drive in.. Have a 2021 triumph trident coming tomorrow you can review that when you come up.
Nice review of the bike mate and yes you are right red definitely goes faster lol 😂 It’s a bloody quick bite mate I wouldn’t mind having a bike to clean I get really annoyed cleaning two cars in the winter I clean mine yesterday and then it snowed LOL anyway have a great Sunday mate
Unfortunately slated by the press for not being a track bike who cares extremely capable on the road which 99% of us ride on I've got both the 600 and a 93 1100 brilliant mile munchers
G'day mate, I just got the same bike today was wondering if there any mods you've done on it, I got the fender eliminator already on it. and if theres anything that I could do to make it better and also want a recommendation for a new exhaust. I live in sydney.
Awesome man. It’s a fun bike and sounds fantastic. Only thing I’ve done is put in a K&N high flow air filter. It goes well enough. If I was interested in doing wheelies I’d change the gearing slightly. I’m interested to see what the fender eliminator looks like.
@@hachewie I picked it up just today! It is awesome fast for a 25 year old bike, I wouldn’t mind giving that a go hey! If you’re in Sydney let’s meet up for a ride up to Nasho or anywhere really.
Hey mate loved the review very honest and "AUSSIE" ! ;) Have you had any issues with the 2nd gear popping out that gets reported? or any other items that you would recommend keeping an eye on? im Looking at a very clean 95 with just shy of 60k km on her - keen to hear ur thoughts...cheers
The gearbox is fine man. I've heard if you drop the clutch in 2nd to pop the front up, then 2nd gear has issues. I don't often try to get the front up. Only reall issue I've has is with the regulator/stator thingo. Caused a bit of grief. Not a big deal though. The local Kawasaki Dealer told me a few weeks ago that they are great bikes with bullet proof engines. I love it. Goes great for an old 600.
@@hachewie haha no problem buddy. Does your zzr run with a fuel pump? Im actually gravity feeding mine from the tank directly into carbs. Very difficult to find an original pump in S. A
Hello I remember I commented a while ago about getting one myself and hopefully going for a ride together. Unfortunately I couldn't find one suitable and ended up getting a 900cc naked instead. Let me know if it's possible to get together for a ride.
Picking up a very original clean/tidy 1994 E2 model in Black/Turquoise for a dirty cheap price of £600. Bike has been garaged for 2 years but the previous owner drained the tank/carbs when he laid it up and kept the battery charged so still runs/rides but may need a minor service prior to getting it MOT tested. Had a few of these ZZR's over the years and they are great bikes, well built and a cheap way of getting a smile on your face.
@@hachewie I prob won’t but this isn’t as daunting looking as I had imagined. Maybe if you said, ‘Redo an easy topic’ I would have thought of it different?! Idk
