Jaylen Brown is a not a team player. Ever since HS, he's wanted to be the guy. Went to Cal as one of their highest recruits ever because he wanted the ball in his hands. In the NBA, he plays iso ball whenever Tatum isn't involved. That's not the kind of player you want on Team USA. I would choose Payton Prichard over Damian Lillard because one of those two is a team player.

I'd take an elite role player over another #1 option type of guy on this team that already has like 10 of them

Tbh Grant Hills thinking is pretty valid. This team is loaded with stars already, Derrick White's offensive game revolves around eating off others and playing within the flow of the game. On defense, he's a menace. There's a reason people call him a superstar role player, its the kind of guy that is perfect for a team like USA. Similar to Jrue Holiday in that regard who has always been great on Team USA. Its not that Derrick White is a bad pick, but it is curious that they chose a different position when Jaylen Brown is so comparable to Kawhi that it seemed like a no-brainer to take him as a fill-in.
