It's a really cool state park. Only cost a few bucks. On the way there you can find similar springs if you pay attention to the exits. They are not parks, so you're on your own if you go by yourself.
As a Florida native who grew up on the water and even alligator hunting... congratulations because that’s somthing I wouldn’t even do with that size gator.
👀! I've lived in South Florida 34yrs, never would I ever even think about doing that. Take care, Gators don't bother you but get too close at your own peril. They aren't to be F'd with✌️
@@cantona7101 Zulu Black is correct. Also, crocs have an indentation in the top jaw just behind the nasal disc, with a large tooth in the bottom jaw (like a boar's tusk) sticking up outside it. Gators do not have either, and their top jaw teeth typically show from the side even when the mouth is closed, whereas crocs' do not. Also, different habitats - - crocs are entirely African, Asian and Central/South American animals (with a modest exception for the American Crocodile, which inhabits the extreme southern Florida mangrove marshes), whereas alligators live only in North America and the Yangtze River in China.
@@BiggusDickus. They're not two times bigger, but they're definitely twice, maybe 3 times as aggressive. An average full grown American Alligator male is 11-15feet, An average full grown Nile Croc male is 14-17 feet
@@kevinsteve1979 all these experts in the comments 😂 literally trying to tell you how to do something you already did. I never u sweat and why people think that saying stuff like that will change your mind. Regardless, sick video hopefully one day I’ll be able to do the same. Favorite animal and beautiful water
@iLiterallyJustSaidDont Gators don't see us as prey... i admit that this was a bit too close 😅 but still felt safe that they won't attack. Only ones I'm keeping my distance are hatchlings and females during nesting season
You’re underestimating their intelligence. They are smart hunters that study prey patiently. Keep doing this and one day you’ll be sorry while you’re dragged deeper and deeper. Hopefully you get that on film though lolol
@@kevinsteve1979 dude get serious, that gator had entire river to swim around in, you think it was just coincidence he swam up close on you eyeing you every second ? Their brains have only one thought 24/7, kill something and eat it, kill something and eat it, and then > oh there is something gliding by on the river breathing with a heartbeat, maybe kill and eat, kill and eat, yes you literally coulda ended up shredded bloody spaghetti
Are you **** Kidding me, on Kayak?? Those gators could easily knock you overboard and grab you if any of them are crazy enough to do that. Don't know if there are personality traits among them, but you're very lucky you never encountered that one crazy inquisitive 16 foot individual who likes to solve hunger problems! Bro i totally understand you're just having fun, but for everybody who loves the outdoors. Please bring a bigger boat than a pint size kayak! You may never know your next trip on a Kayak could be your last.
Alligators rarely attack humans, there's 1 gator fatality every 2 years. They are much more chill than crocodiles are.....with that said, I still wouldn't be on a kayak with gators that big.
Yes that is possible but it is very unlikely. I've lived in Florida my entire life and I've seen ton's of alligators up close and even caught two 3-4 footers bare handed when I was a around 13-15 years old. What you just mentioned would be much more of a concern if you were dealing with crocodiles as they are much more dangerous and aggressive than alligators are. Alligators can still kill and/or cause massive amounts of damage it's just that they are much more docile compared to crocodiles and they often will not attack someone in a canoe or kayak unless there are extraordinary circumstances such as the kayak getting too close to the baby alligators of a massive, angry mama. Aside from those types of situation they're usually more interested in getting away from humans as fast as they can, rather than attacking them,
Yes, you are right about gators and crocs. A gator typically won't leap up and attack someone in a small water craft. A croc on the other hand, will. It has been known to happen in the Northern Territory, Australia.
I agree. I kayak often with alligators in Louisiana. they never get THAT close. I would've walked on water getting away from that even with my .45 on my hip LOL
I thought about kayak fishing in a Creek that had alligators until I saw a video of an alligator attacking a kayak. The guy about pooped in his pants and said a few choice words.
It didn't attack the kayak... It went after the fish he had dangling off the side of his hayak. If a gator really wants you. He'll knock you out the kayak EASY
Balls of steel are for people who know the danger they are getting into and do it anyway. I have a feeling this guy doesn't feel like he's in danger. That's quite a different thing... a scary thing.
When kayaking in silver springs. Huge Gators are everywhere. If you don't want to come in contact then don't be in their territory. Easy as that. Most won't harm you unless your the threat (being too close to their babies or interfering with their feeding time.) Practice encounter therapy...it's taught me so much about them. 💚
@@mollyzarra9040 Dont be around them period. Gators do not fear man at all. They have no problem fuckin you up. People getting comfortable around apex predators is one of the most ignorant things to do. Then they wanna cry about it when they get attacked & wonder why lol Kayaking around Gators is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. It's the same with spear fishing in the ocean, knowing that attracts Sharks. & don't give me that nonsense about Sharks are not likely to attack. Every Shark attack victim said the same thing lol
My neighbor on the river (SW FL.), was rowing a metal John boat in a creek like this. Big gator started chasing him. Rowed as fast as he could. It bit the transom, denting/gouging it up pretty good. He was shook up, but OK. Said he was glad he was rowing back out, when it happened, and he won't do that again.
Used to go on the silver springs tour in the glass bottom boat as a kid with my grandparents. Then we'd shoot over to St. Marks and bird watch with binoculars. Good memories.
This is actually the typical wild gator reaction to human intrusion, unless you have a female protectinjg her nest or young, or a large bull being territorial during the mating season. Gators generally avoid humans, unless humans have been feeding them. They are not nearly as aggressive as crocodiles, especially the larger species (Nile and Salt-Water).
Gator 1 : ohh look guys… it's the floating lunch I was talking about. Gator 2 : We know… we had 1 yesterday without you. Gator 1 : Again ? You guys sucks… big time !!
Yep, same. Was on the Waccasassa once, about halfway to the gulf, headed down this creek, and saw the biggest one I've ever seen on a small beach. It was about halfway between low and high tide and as soon as he saw us he hit the water. We turned around becausethere wasn't enough water in that creek for 2 kayaks and that gator. I don't mind kayaking with them. Like most wild animals they don't want to be bothered any more than you do, but there's always that one asshole lol. And forget mating/nesting season. I'll kayak elsewhere.
🤣🤣 We actually an truly fell in and sunk a kayak in that area. My partner wasn't paying attention do to just seeing a cottonmouth (hole in tree) and gators. We were coming around the bend to fast. Luckily we were with a big group and they started making lots of noise to keep them away while bringing the kayak up to the surface.
Oh damn 😅😅 bet that got you a bit of an adrenaline kick😄 but can't be worse as those tourists on the Hillsborough River which went missing for a night . Stuck on Canoes with a shit load of gators, mosquitoes etc😆 no reception etc
Man I spend all day everyday defending alligators on videos like this. People think they're a much bigger problem than they actually are. I mean I think we went 7 years without a fatal attack and the one that happened was wrong place wrong time wrong animal. You do this with a Nile or saltwater crocodile, you're probably not going to come back. But with gators, really not that big a deal. But I'm not going to lie, I've caught Gators with a trapper before who's a buddy of mine and he let me come help him. I probably would not have gotten that close in the water. I mean I don't think I've seen any legitimate case of an alligator grabbing someone out of a kayak or canoe like the crocodiles do but that is a big big big big ass animal. And I like to think I have some pretty big balls myself. I've worked with anacondas I've worked with reticulated pythons I've as I said caught Gators before but you got some balls my man. And again I'm not demonizing Gators I think that they are much much less of a danger to human life than people think. But once they start getting that big, I tend to stay back a few more feet just to be safe.
I don't believe they ever were in danger of being extinct. They were talking about them being endangered and a guy said when they swallow your Beagle whole it's time to do something. He could hear his dog whining. He cut open the alligator and got his dog out.
@@julesampo1607 I don't know what you call almost wiped off the Earth but in Florida and Louisiana alone there are enough 🐊 alligators to populate the whole South. I went on a swamp tour in Slidell, Louisiana. There didn't seem to be any shortage of alligators there.
@@julesampo1607 As far as I'm concerned all the reptiles, roaches, rats and mice can go. As far as alligators and crocodiles I don't need to meet anything bigger than I am and with teeth.
dude, were you by yourself? i cant imagine doing this myself. you are fucking brave and crazy , man. even if sb pay me like 20 thousand dollars, i wouldnt do this shit. I will piss on my pants when i see gators / crocs that close
Man, that's awesome! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 It's my dream place to kayak and record some alligators. Where I live you can see some big ass crocodiles but they run away from humans as soon as you aproach to them. Maybe it's because people destroyed most of their habitat.
I went kayaking here with my family.....my uncle tipped our kayak and we heard the splash of a gator going under afterwards(you know the sound). I haven't gone kayaking since....
I was reading the comments n saying to my self."That isn't so bad,I could do that Shit".then I watched the end of the video where you practically could have jumped on the gator. Then I was thinking "nope, nah aww,not a god damn way am doing that" lol
@@ryuukiie3635 alive kicking and well lol.i actually moved to florida and stubbled across loads of gators. Haven’t been no closer than 20 Feet though lol Hope you been well over the years
Coming a Florida boy. That was very unwise. You got lucky this time. Being that close it could of snapped and considered you a threat in a second. You would of had no chance.
Jason voorhees Well by all means continue on. Jump right in. My 50 years of watching these things live and feed mean nothing up against you Animal Planet degree. And let me fill you in on something else. Your numbers on gator and shark attacks are wrong. Total BS. This are spun to keep the southern tourists happy you know. "Like the body was disturbed by sea or aquatic life after death" Right! Paddle on brother and be safe. Don't become over confident.
Larry Sigers uh listen smart guy don't get lippy with me . I literally search this stuff up it's very rare for Gators to attack stop acting like you know everything
Larry Singer I don't watch animal planet .I actually study them work with them go into there natural habitat .I have swam with sharks and Gators both. I study on snakes and other animals.
I work at the Springs and there's less than one attack a year on average. Number becomes minuscule if we talk about lethal attacks. They really are like bears in neighborhoods
Am I right in saying that gators, as well as large snakes, measure themselves to things they swim beside to see if they're large enough to try and eat them?
@CHRIS I'm from Florida and I've never heard of people knowingly swimming in gator infested waters, so I'm going to have to call it like it is, you're a liar😐
Usually it's safe to do so since gators don't see prey in human beings or a threat in kayaks. The videos where it shows that an alligator goes for a kayak was very much likely a female protecting her nest or hatchlings
@@kevinsteve1979 what was going through your mind at this moment? I’ve never been near an alligator ever, so I genuinely want to know what it feels like. Is it scary, calming or do you do this a lot? And also how was the boat still floating with them balls of steel on board lol.
@@Joeydurken123 I'm on the rivers quite often.... first off you gotta go when there is no nesting season because the females will be very protective 😎 In this video I got a bit too close but didn't want to start paddling like crazy and causing splashes that would irritate the gator.
They usually a bit more shy than this. But if you get too close to a nest they can EASILY flip that little kayak and devour contents. Blub blub blub...
I’m from Florida, Silver springs is a very clear body of water and very cold 🥶 even when temperatures are at it’s hottest, the water is extremely cold 🥶 and most gators 🐊 are not aggressive in that particular water temperature 🤒 so I am pretty sure the one kayaking knows this through research 🧐 and data ..
They’ll usually leave you alone. Unless is mating season and they are beneath you & mistake the shadow of your canoe or kayak for another bull. That’s an impressive sized boy!
