As long as they fix his hit boxes I can live with a lack of buff, his combo inconsistency is the bane of playing him. Combo damage would be a nice cherry on top
Ws4,4 need to be +4 oh like the other mishimas. Df1 need the cbt hitbox again, and maybe b2,2 can be safe at -9 or -6 to get some mid mid shotsown agression.
Instantly thought of you when I saw that tweet man haha, I think they're just gonna fix some inconsistencies, give us triple electric (MAYBE QUAD?) into heat, and give us some more combo routes and some damage buffs? I couldn't see them adding too much more sadly but I'm definitely hopeful
I think they’ll fix the combo inconsistency. I want them to readjust the frame data of his fast mids. A lot of them are punishable. The 13f ones especially are very risky to use but you’ll want to use them in frame traps every now and then
The only fast mid I want them to change the frame data on is ws44. The other mishimas get +4 (+6 and HW for reina lol) while he's -4 still for some reason, just make it 0 or or something and I'll be happy. Having good, safe fast mid pokes is against his core design. What he lacks there he makes up for with his S tier slow moves (ff3, f4, db4, d1+2, etc). Df44 and db12 have their use cases. Df4 hits low-profile characters when they go into stance, and the second 4 is delayable for a risky timing mixup and is hit confirmable. Db12 is 13f heat engager for block punish and whiff punish. Wall splats too. Db1 itself is scary to punish, no one wants to press there so they usually don't get anything if you do prod with it.
@@h4rdtrexactly, I don't want them to delete his weaknesses, that's what makes him fun, how he's so polarized like that. Even the demon paw was pushing it a bit but he did need it for this game.
@@tongpoo8985 I agree on ws4,4 idk why he is the only mishima that is -4 on hit. To be clear, I didn’t say to make all of his mids safe. I just want them to be readjusted. Db1,2 for example doesn’t need to be safe, but -19? There are some characters that can reliably punish that midscreen even with the pushback (Jun and Asuka f2 for example). At the wall there is no push back so you’re going to do die if you use it outside heat. I think making it -14 or something would be better. I can’t think of any other heat engager that is that unsafe. For df4,4 I’d want them to just adjust the df4 part. It’s weird to me that you only get +2 on hit and -9 on block. There’s just very little reward for stopping there and you just straight up lose your turn. I’d prefer it if they make it identical to ws4 since they already look identical in animation
@@floridaman7206 all that stuff is by design, df4 has always been like that, and db12 is on-brand for him. Db12 is like that because the first hit is punishable at -10, so they want to make it clear that if you want to use it as a poke and dissuade them from punishing db1 by completing the string, you have to take a major risk. They just really, really don't want you to use it as a poke, that's what they're saying there. Which is fine, it has its specific uses that it's extremely swole for (oki at wall cuz it launches people OTG if you heat dash out of it, block punish/whiff punish HE wall splat, and huge risk press-or-not mixup). It's -19 specifically because of the pushback, they want it to be launchable by good players while leaving a little difficulty barrier on the punish from the pushback so you can use it more in low ranks without getting punished. Ws4 is allowed to have decent frame data because it's locked behind execution. You can actually use that as a poke btw. If you do it frame perfectly, it can be minimum 14 frame start up from standing. F, n, df, n+4. It'll be more like 18-20 frames til you get good at it, but it's worth it. That's called "instant ws4." A Kazuya player called RJ uses this a lot. They look identical but they are pretty different in how you use them, df4 you can delay the second 4, you can't do that from ws4. Both are good for hitting very low opponents like eddy in relax or (sometimes 😒) Xiaoyu as she goes into AOP. If you make the frame data good on df4, he would basically have a standard good df1 just in his right foot instead of left hand, they specifically give him a slow df1 because they don't want that, it's the tradeoff for crazy ff3, f4, db4, etc. All this stuff is legacy, they refined his gameplay design over decades, he's perfectly designed, just poorly coded/tested.
0:53 “I feel like I’m playing dark souls, like elden ring” as someone who mains Kazuya and has finished Elden Ring and Sekiro twice, I do agree. I used to play Tekken 7 to blow off some steam after hard boss fights now it’s the other way around
yes kaz was hella ez in tk7 compared to tk8. just hoped on to tk7 just to see i am really that bad because losing matches tk8 has becomed a habit of mine now. the kaz hard combos are way easier in tk7 i mean they made this character harder instead of making him easier. shits crazy bro. and the elden ring part is also true at this point i play elden ring to blow off steam and tk8 to rip my hair off in rage
I think He's going to get very little. Hopefully hitbox changes, but i cant imagine that he's going to much in the way of frame data changes or hit properties
I don't necessarily need him to get straight up offensive buffs, but with his archetype I demand that they give him the best sidestep and backdash of all the males, and fix df1's consistency. Otherwise, if he's the only guy playing legacy Tekken, that's cool, then give him Tag 1 movement and I'll stop complaining. He's supposed to bait moves? Cool, give him the movement to do it. I wouldn't mind some of his old niche legacy moves like ultimate tackle, quick unblockable, natural combo spinning demon, original low low hellsweep. FOR SOME REASON, Feng, Drag and Jack have the best backdashes and/or sidesteps when they already have buttons and throws.
@@sirstaccsalot4164 give me this and I'll even live with the fact that he doesn't have an easy mode 15f standing launcher for block punishment, which almost everyone else has
Now that would be really cool, I would love if they buffed his movement a little bit. Reina gets to scoot around like shes on roller skates doing electrics and she's already way better than him in every other way.
Adding damage to bd3+4 is a good idea. But honestly I would be happy if they make electrics a middle attack instead of high, because the electric is supposed to be great and is shit. Too situational.
Mid electrics would put him at SSS tier instantly, no way. Don't like to say it but keep practicing/git gud, it's already the best high in the game by far
@@tongpoo8985 I am battle ruler with kazuya and have no problem with electrics. Just think is a cool tool that isn’t that rewarding. Middle would put him where it should be although it doesn’t matter, he got CD 1+2 to be +5 on block meaning now we have a middle attack that can be used out of wavedash which either frame traps the opponent or knocks him down alongside proper damage for another 50/50 window.
@@backgroundbunch3534 yeah let's just give him a quick mid normal hit launcher that's +5 on block, deals chip damage, has some tracking, and has no whiff recovery. No one would ever use any other move 💀 you could just electric and hellsweep, dont need anything else. Like a mid electric would be a mile better than ff3 in every metric, and ff3 is already a uniquely strong tool. Electric is not situational lol, you can use it in every situation, whiff punish, keepout, or pressure. You need to practice doing it from movement cuz if you could dash elec and sidestep elec you would never say that. Mid electric is probably the wildest take Ive heard so far in this game tbh. Keep practicing bro don't ask for lighter loads but stronger shoulders
Kazuya has so many useless moves in T8. I don't know any other character with such a small movelist but so many useless moves. And what I mean by useless is they are rarely the best option for any situation - cd+1 useless - cd+3 useless - cd+1+2 useless - d/b+2 useless - 1, 2, 2~3 useless - 2, 2 useless - f+3 useless - ws+3 useless - 4~3 useless - ss+3 useless - u/b+2 useless - 1+2 useless - f+2 worst armor move - u/f+4, 4, 4, 4 troll move - mist step (f, n) you can't even control the direction of it and this move is so rare to see used at all honorary mentions are - f+1+2 only slightly saved by the punch parry - ss+1+2 which is barely more useful than doing a ss+EWGF because of the better tracking but at least it doesn't require a counter hit for follow up
4x ewgf coming back from heat burst but they should just make 3/4 easier and fix alignment issue and df1 hitbox issue. Closer to t7 ewgf combos but time will tell about the gameplay changes itself and, yeah that db3+4 should become a lot more scarry with the added chip damage buff but, 1+4 is a good enough setup for it afterwords say if they were to throw out any follow up counter move/poke but im sure dvj's heatsmash would still smash through it and majority of the other hestsmashs. Kazuya deserves a non low heatsmash to really call it a buff in terms of aggressive play but yeah lets fix basics first then we can cry later for actual buffs.
Real shit Kazuya won't be amazing BUT it would still be ok enough if this patch only buffed his Combo Consistency, DF1 and revert Hell's Gate. I ask for nothing more. Ideally though, his useless irrelevant moves would be changed as well and slight tweaks to some frame data are made. His WS4,4 being - on hit is mad weird. Db2 should go back to knocking down on regular hit. Some of the Heat moves like SS2 consume less Heat or get better Frame Data. His Heat tools in general could use some tweaks. Some have great utility but horrible Frame Data or Heat Consumption. The get off me Heat attack should stay as is. Imo the worst thing they could do is further buff something like FF2 which is already kinda strong. Hell, I would even take a nerfed FF2 if it means his other moves get decent buffs. That move has really dumbed down his Neutral game and people still cry. At range Kazuya is fr a threat. It's only up close that he struggles and even then he has tools like Twin Pistons, WS4,4 and 1,1,2. Kazuya mains lowkey be mad salty and do downplay him a bit. That said, Twitter mfs also overplay him LOL. They think he really solid when he isn't. I had someone bringing up 13frame Electric Punish on block as if that's something consistently possible when even the best of pros don't consistently land that. The main thing I don't fw that Kazuya mains who complain talk about is giving him things that make him more rushdown. He doesn't need these strong pokes or whatever because he isn't Reina. Kazuya is a casino punish character with high damage, keep him this way. Also, I think his damage isn't an issue, just the combo consistency. Giving him insane damage on top of one of the best Oki is OD and unfair. I like my Kazuya balanced not overtuned.
You are right that those moves are great tools on paper but twin piston does not reach half of the time on moves that it should, rising 4,4 is still -4 on hit while everyone's is +4, and flash punch gets eaten by the game sometimes, especially the second hit which leads you to finishing the string to knock them down just for the third hit to leave you at -17
@@rokifnify Twin Pistons and Flash Punch missing are very likely bugs (especially Flash Punch). Many characters besides Kazuya suffer from similar issues with certain strings having inconsistent hitboxes so I didn't bring those up for that reason (almost every character... Nina and Lee come to mind). I also did say "WS4,4 is mad weird" implying that it shouldn't be -4 on hit. Even then, WS4 on its own is 11frames and +8 on hit which is free mix if you have the reaction time to confirm it hit and don't blindly mash the second 4. The few moves that Twin Pistons doesn't punish due to range typically can be punished with WS2 or WS4,4 such as Snake's Edge whiffing with Twin Pistons but hitting on WS2. I still don't see where my post said anything wrong. Only non heat move that's straight up garbage is DB2.
Agree with everything you said. It's crazy how the people who complain about kazuya and some of the newer Kazuya players don't understand the character at all. Stg all the people who complain about him are orange ranks who don't launch punish hellsweep or sidestep or ever stay on the ground. The "bruh he has 13f electric bruh" thing ps me off so much 😂 NO ONE IS DOING THAT FOR BLOCK PUNISH 😂😂 usually not even for 15-16 frame block punish. And then the new Kazuya players thinking he should have good quick mid pokes when he already has maybe the best 20+ frame moves in the game. Db2 being a knockdown again and heat ss2 being safer makes sense. Doesn't make sense for heat ss2 tp have the same frame data that DJ has without heat. Either make it not cost heat or like -12 maybe.
@@tongpoo8985 The crazy part is this is my first Tekken and I main Kazuya. People confuse how to play this character and cry. You also got people on Twitter saying he is broken. I seen a thread talking about his 5050 being broken as if he doesn't LOSE HIS WHOLE LIFE for a missed Hellsweep. His damage really won't be bad if the harder routes were properly consistent. People forget that with wall he easily gets 90+ and without wall if you use F4, you get free mix and vortex. Doing multiple 31 cancels is complete RNG right now but if it was consistent then you get a near guaranteed wall carry combo. The only other buff that I didn't mention in the other comment is that I'd make him be able to cancel all the laser followups by holding back so you have an option to not use up heat. Like FF2 always leads to the laser but if you hold back it would just do normal FF2.
