Thank you Geoff, me and the wife made this and we loved it. Only slight change we made was, we added chopped cherry tomatoes when serving.

Greetings from the House of Burgundy Uncle Geoffrey , we hope you enjoyed Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday and Valentine's day . Yes we had undyed naturally smoked haddock as we enjoyed our valentine's day meal . We enjoyed our pancakes and we were exhausted entertaining The Duke of Wimbledon who has arrived . We took your advice by including a barm brack as part of the expected visitor cake . Bobby Buttons the Fourth admires you greatly. I shall return to my bottle of cider .

Very nice we love this sort of food fora light supper but I do make it veggie by adding some vegaterian ham or quorn chicken it's good with the eggs.. Nice Geoff 🥚🐔🍗👍💋

HI Henrietta. Oh yes it would make a nice supper. Of course spicing can be adjusted to suit tastes as well. I keep mine fairly lightly spiced so I don't blow my head off.

Ive never tried this dish. I love yellow fish usually with a knob of butter. I'll be giving this recipe a go on a smaller scale 😊 Thanks Geoff, another dish worth trying 😋

Hi Mary. I have seen some Khichdi recipes, which is a forerunner of Kedgeree, that use moong dal which is a split version of mung beans, but chana dal(split chick peas will work too. In both cases I would soak the dal in water for an hour then discard the water before cooking the dal with the rice until soft.

The earliest recipe for kedgeree is recorded in Scotland in the late 1700s. It's a pre-Victorian dish

Hi Alan. Yes certainly pre-Victorian, as I mention in the video it is probably based on an Indian dish from the 1300s. Although recorded in Scotland in the 1790s its' popularity as a breakfast dish seems to emanate from Victorian times.

Thanks Geoff. I will make this as I love Kedgeree. I'm wondering about your haddock being yellow because of the dye you say. Did you mean your fish is coloured with artifical dye. I buy haddock which is also very yellow, but it says on the back that it's yellow because it coloured with Turmeric. Thanks again for this recipe. Kind regards. 😃

Hi M G. I hope you enjoy it. My smoked haddock was coloured with curcumin(turmeric) and paprika extract. But I prefer the un-dyed haddock. When growing up I only ever saw the dyed version and assume the colour was obtained during the smoking process. But I guess not.

Hi Caz. Fish is traditional in kedgeree, usually haddock. Sometimes salmon is used these days. However if you mean can you put something other than fish in I think that would be fine,, maybe some cooked chickpeas, with the eggs chopped too and mixed it. Meat is an alternative as well, of course.

@@caz12345 I don't like fish either, except cod and haddock. All the others have too strong a flavour for my liking. Chicken, lamb or beef will all work well.
