Kee Marcello is one of those many examples that being famous not necessarily is synonymous with having talent, this guy is many more talented than many other famous guitarists.

What a fantastic player ! Very melodic with speed and chops for days ! Lee never got the recognition he deserved! Out of this world and prisoners in paradise have amazing guitar work all over the albums !
metalheart80s Yes it is! Kee Marcello was a big step up after John Norum who already was worldclass! Underrated at that time. But...he doesn’t use his pinky...that’s where Paul Gilbert overrules Kee imo.
Kee Marcello and Steve Lukather were my biggest influences. Timeless solos who know how to combine melodic soloing with shredding. Nowadays guitarists just focus on shred and forget abt music

Superstitious solo is a masterpiece I have been playing this solo for near 30 years and sneaking in the melody whenever I can when I improvise over certain chords because it is so amazing.

One of my favourite guitar players ever, and probably one of the most underrated too! For me, Kee Marcello can be spoken about in the same breath as other phenomenal players like Steve Lukather and Edward Van Helen , where it’s not just technique that makes them great musicians and songwriters, it’s that they use technique as a conduit for their stunning musicality and melodic sense to play the right thing at the right time in the song.
Yeah, I completely agree. It's more than just being able to play awesome licks... It's about taste. Definitely, Kee is in the category of the classy players.
Kee is easily one of my favorite players...he effortlessy combines a lot of the "signature moves" and techniques of many of the top players of the era. Criminally underrated!

Pues sí sería guay. Lamentablemente eso no va a pasar nunca. Kee no volverá con europe aunque se lo pidan de rodillas. Y ellos están contentos con el norum ese...... pues vale. Kee era el alma del espectáculo se movía de un lado para otro, corría, saltaba.... ¿?Que hace norum aparte de nada? ademas se pasa doblado medio concierto, le va a salir chepa, creo yo que como no se cuide..... Kee es el amo, el maestro, es mi dios y le da 200.000 vueltas al norum con la guitarra. Pero ¿Como se puede hacer un dvd de guitarra y decir, no.. es que no lo toco como la canción original porque no me acuerdo? Ni clases de guitarra quisiera recibir del norum, ni gratis. Por cierto, ando como loco buscando conciertos de la epoca de kee, en video o en audio, no me importa. Mas que nada de 1988-89 y por casualidad ¿No tendrás el concierto de los angeles 1987 completo, con love chaser, el solo de bateria, el solo de guitarra etc?? Yo lo tuve en una cinta de casete, el concierto completo de una hora y media, no ese que anda por internet de 50 minutos. Recuerdo que estaba patrocinado por colacola y Chesterfield, pero se rompió y parece ser que nadie en el puto planeta tiene ese concierto completo. Si lo tuviese y vendería copias, me forraba.

A medida que ha pasado el tiempo he perdido todo cassettes , cd, dcd etc. Si no , te regalaria una copia , al igual que tu me queda solo el internet , pero vere en alguna tienda aca en Chile , tenemos unas iendas de culto , en una de esas encuentro algo , que bueno encontrar a alguien que opina lo mismo que yo , aca vinieron a Viña en 1990 en su epoca de gloria y venian con kee marcello , hay dos conciertos en vivo de las dos presentaciones , muy buenos , podrias verlos , el 2do joey estaba un poco difonico por haber cantado dos dias seguidos , pero esta bueno igual y el ultimo de este año Viña del mar 2018 sin kee , con ese tal norum , que parece una estatua , yo lo vi por joey que sigue siendo un gran artista , extaño la guitarra de nuestro kee.

The funny thing is that many watch this to learn some specific well-known solo, for example Superstitious, but in fact lots of the other work in this video is technically and musically at the same or higher level. He plays some 5 minute long jazz-inspired piece for example and lots of the other Europe-solos are filled with more different licks and tricks than just some straight scaleruns. Awesome video all in all!! :)
@@genustinca5565 Well stated. Maestro Kee MARCELLO is one of the most talented musicians in the rock genre. There are many guitarists that can play fast without any sense of expression and melody.
Amazing guitarist, Kee has one of the most aggressive pull ups I've ever heard, I've always thought of him as Gary Moore in steroids. The feel is just incredible!
Seems like the key to his playing is getting the "rubato" down, which is extremely hard to nail. Feels so much easier to play 3's, 4's, and 5's robotically. He demonstrates this with the Superstitious solo at 21:00. This is great. I was obsessed with this solo as a kid, and I didn't realize this instructional even existed.
He explains it the way it works, but it's of course easier said than done :) You need the "checkpoints" to aim for and you can slow down/speed up in between, and to do that you'll listen subconsciously for them while you play. After playing the same solo a few hundred times this becomes much easier :)

The hardest thing about his rubato is that Kee isn't someone who uses rubato to rush or cram notes in like Yngwie (imo another Great). No, he plays "outside" of the tempo for a more laid back feel. It takes extreme skill and confidence to play those fast licks with a more leisurely feel.
The weird thing is that the off-beat notes still have a right timing, it's just very hard to tell what you're missing when you don't have it right. Satch is really good at it too
