Another compressor pedal. I have Keeley's Compressor + and am perfectly happy with it. I don't need another compressor pedal. Wait, apparently I do. PURCHASED.

Hey Jay, how did you find this compared to the Diamond Comp? I'm in the market for a comp and so i'm curious on how they both feel and sound.

I like the Diamond compresses in a way that gives a feeling of more punch to your tone (similar to how a tube amp compresses your tone). The Keeley is a little more of a squish and sustainer (think chicken pickin', funk, and sustained slide playing).

Never owned a compressor. But this would be a great starting point. I just get really frustrated. This is the pedal that I just can’t seem to hear difference.

@@simonharwood8488 Player Strat and Gibson tribute. Fender blues junior 4. Pedals D&M Drive and a Tumnus. The Tumnus I use it as a boost push the amp over. The D&M Drive I use it with more distortion but not crazy.

With compressors, you don't so much hear a difference, you feel it. Without getting too techy, you can learn slowly by experience. Though there are plenty of resources that can give you more or less "presets" for different playing styles. I've even seen these examples in the manuals themselves, which is always great to include in your pedals box! Keep at it man, you'll get it!

@@istvandejesus think of compression as a tool to narrow the range of your volume; bring your loud parts down, your soft parts up. You can also set how quickly it engages and how long it lasts. Distortion already compresses loads... if I record through a RAT pedal, the waveform is basically flat. If you record single coils direct, the waveform is huge peaks and troughs; a compressor will squash the peaks and raise the troughs, which can help your guitar stay in line with the song. It can take a long time to fully understand compression. I don't use a pedal at all; don't need one, but for recording music... EVERYTHING has compression.

It's a fatness that comes from the attack and release of the note and not one that comes from a drastic EQ change... Who wouldn't love that :)

The mini format is nice, but for $30 more you can buy a Boss CP-1X, one of the best compressor pedals on the market.

I totally agree! Can I quote you on that? "The mini format is nice", and for $30 more you can get one of the best sounding compressors on the market, the Boss CP-1X. Or you could save $30 and have all of the tone, less hassle, and it's in the nice mini format. ;-) Nothing but love David Fracasso
