I love that Sklonda is like- the only ACTUAL normal parent in the campaign, and getting the “straight man” perspective on junior year as a whole is too damn funny to me
I feel like Sandra Lynn and Jawbone are pretty normal, if not kinda messy and extremely kind respectfully. Also, other than Pok being in The Celestial Plane, he's pretty normal (albeit the spy stuff)
we need a “emily and ally punching up each other’s bits” compilation bc i feel like each intrepid heroes season is chock full of them and they’re always so good (marge/sid and ylfa/tim especially but also bangers like the uc2 bathroom scene etc)
It's so interesting that the inciting incident of Kristen's whole character journey was realizing that Helio was this fratty prat and it feels like this season Ally is taking the character of Kristen closer and closer to being the same. I wonder if that's an intentional play on their part, given their internalization that this season was 'about' chaos being an unsustainable offshoot of doubt. I wonder if that'll become something explicit in the story.
This shit was so fun and to slowly watch fucking Kristen Applebees and Fig Faeth realize they were each other's BFFs this season is honestly an amazing ride. Also that bit when iirc the rat grinders were talking shit about them and Kristen appeared just to put clothes on and say "what the fuck" is gold.
0:45 This was Brennan and the Season Story designers ranting about how their perfectly written ‘Type A Short Kids Compete’ was replaced with ‘Kristen dunking on this fucking dork and stealing her branding’
Ok, but Kristen being the one to run and proceeding to steamroll Kettlecunt in the polls is even better considering Kipperlily's real motivation. Being beaten a by more interesting person with a bigger personality has to make her fucking seethe.
I love that this season is sorta flipping my favorite characters. I used to love Kristen and Figs chaos but I’m gravitating more toward Riz and gorgug The chaos is fun still but I love that this season is kinda showing the downside of constant indecision
It's been stated by Ally to be Kristens season of learning "chaos isn't cute anymore". We are still waiting for that to come fully into play I'd say. Like, Kristen is losing Cassandra and adademia, but is still not fully grappling with her own responsibility for that.
I'm glad someone pointed this out. I know that they're trying to be funny, and they are being funny, but I'm so invested in these characters, and I'm just constantly mad at Kristen and Fig. And I'm seeing Gorgug try so hard, and Fig keeps doing bullshit but she keeps succeeding, and I know that's because Emily built a really effective character, but so far this season it just seems like Fig keeps getting handed everything. Not to mention Kristen keeps sexually harassing people.
@@redirectiontimeI'm glad I'm not the only one frustrated with Kristen's behavior. I need her to start taking responsibility in her relationships soon, particularly her romantic ones
Because I work a job where I can’t look at my phone, I’ve been listening to all the Dimension 20 campaigns. Gotta say the memes and shenanigans are *so* much funnier when you can actually see what the players are doing
Ally saying "I'm going to be PRESIDEEEENNNTT" while doing that dance might be my single favorite moment from this season. Certainly the moment i reference to myself whenever I'm filled with unearned confidence 😅
I read some comments about how this season wasn't going to be the most serious one by far, as stated by the players themselves, so idk how much of that is gonna happen, or how "harsh" (if harsh at all) it's going to be. But I'm putting my money on something happening with Kristen's brother as the thing that'll signify the necessity for a change, or a consequence. But idk. I'm only following the season by clips, but it seems that's there's some stuff happening in the story, like we're just getting to the point where more significant things are likely to happen.
While I get both the slapstick humour in-universe and the like character frustration in the comments here, I feel more like "This is Kristen (And to a lesser degree Fig) being the one way too stoned at a party, who someone who cares about her needs to come get so she can calm down on the way home before something gets out of hand"
In the following: when I say she or her, I am referring to Kristen and not Ally. Not gonna lie. This season Kristen has been my least favorite character. It feels like the bits are going too far and she seems to be having negative character development. The whole thing where Adiane was bringing up Fig's curse as more important than Kristen's god dieing due to her neglect, and Kristen going agro. That really made me pretty peeved. She actively ignored her god until she was so weak that she died. Fig accepted a curse to help save her friends from certain death.
I think the point is for both fig and Kristen to be out of pocket. Fig’s curse affected gilear terribly, Kristen is Helio at this point, hell even Adine is becoming judgmental like her sister. I think this season is about how your heroic traits can make you selfish in different contexts (specifically relationships that aren’t the party)
@@purrgatoric And I know Fabian is rich and entitled and annoying sometimes, but I wish they'd stopped torturing him with the images of what is essentially his attempted r*pist? It feels so dumb of me to say that about a magical sexy rat, but I feel like it might be valid?
Honestly validating to see other people really not vibing with Kristen this season I adore Ally but Kristen has always been my least favourite of the bad kids but this season and especially this episode have just been leaving a bad taste in my mouth about her Ally said in the pre season thing that Kristen learns about when “chaos isn’t cute” but it seems like she’s been more chaotic than ever this season? So I hope she starts to learn that soon because yeah. Not cute (No hate to ally, Love them)
I keep waiting for the Kristen comeuppance episode but honestly killing a cleric's god and taking away their spells is the most a DM can do, and then Kristen's first and most important priority is to go do a talk at a middle school. I know we're not in for a serious drama with Fantasy High but some amount of tension for Kristen would be nice instead of just bits upon bits.
Sklonda is kinda my hero for reading Kristen for filth. She’s become an absolute fuck-boy this season, she owes Helio an apology. He only looked like a frat-boy and she dumped him immediately.
It was more that he couldn't explain why he allowed suffering on the mortal plane as an all-powerful, all-loving deity. He avoided the question all together, and Kristen saw that as either incompetence or negligence. Honestly, I kind of agree with her.
Yeah, I didn’t because… that was a pretty heavy question to ask right away when you were in the middle of getting a miracle from a god of corn. Maybe it would’ve had a much longer answer relating to corn later. Current Kristen wouldn’t react in a dissimilar way if she was asked a serious question. She’s become the fuckboy she despised and has no one calling her out on it or the self-awareness to improve, and it’s getting hard to witness.
@@hahahahahahahahaa6580 To be fair, if Helio gave her all the answers in the beginning Kristen wouldn't have gone on that personal journey in the first season. And that means she probably wouldn't have gotten together with Tracker. She wasn't ready.
@@hahahahahahahahaa6580 Helio also has a fanatical cult within his church that indoctrinates his followers into being intolerant and self righteous without actually being good, equatable to WASPs in real life. Granted, this setting has already shown that the gods are influenced by the nature in which they are worshipped, so if Cassandra can go from goddess of mystery to nightmare king to blurple camp councelor and Galicaea can go from goddess of the moon in all its forms to goddess of high elves, then that may not actually be Helio's fault.
[Warning: this comment, for me, is over long and a minimum effort at being balanced, so please progress knowing that I did really try to not call anyone out unnecessarily. I just want to think that the creators of Kristen (BLM and AB) are aware enough to satisfy people eventually. Despite what people have said, and to in part quote Adventuring Parties, this story is *not yet* off-the-rails.] I understand that it is incredibly common to imply that Kristen Applebees is an uncharming, and more weirdly, unfunny narcissist, but may I just say: Characters do not have do be in a, for lack of a better turn of...er...phrase, sane place, to be a good person still, or at least, a good character; her reasoning is practically always almost flawed, in my opinion only noticeably this season, and I do understand that her nature causes her to live a very uneven and unfair life to herself and others, the latter being who a fuckton of you notice are "her victims". In spite of what I have just said and whether or not it really is that forseeably true to others.........I find it very familiarly conspiratorial, in (though obviously not as voluntarily anti-progress) an anti-"Hollyweird" conservative or "centrist" "truther" way, for people to accuse Kristen of, by nature, being a parasocially corruptive, psychologically damaging, borderline monster, which AT LEAST SOME OF THE PEOPLE QUESTIONING HER ARC definitely, definitely, would say. *Apologies if this was too scathing,* and now... personally I figure that Brennan and Ally have at least SOME, VERY longstanding backstory-inlayed reasons for Kristen going so off the rails this season. I believe that there is some sort of point to be made, either A) that Kristen is dealing with a decisive handful of uniquely brutal things that make her a less giving and caring individual, or less of a social marksman and champion of friendship, than some/most of those at said table, and therefore is MUCH less the sociopath that famously certain redditors know her to be, OR B) that in some way, her being so unpredictable this season is a sign of her falling out of touch with reality, and that her struggle maybe a lot more real, *and a lot more sad* than the viewer, and the players understandably eating it up, are encouraged to put together yet. You can decide which is truer.
I know I’m in the minority here but I’m really hating Kristen this season. They seem to have such a cavalier disregard for all the shit that their friends are going through to help them become class president. Not to mention it seems that the only reason that Kristen wants to be president is to snub some fuckin rando who pissed them off in one interaction. We’ve expanded on the Rat Crushers but the initial reason to run was to just fuck them over. Riz wanted to run to try and get the student body to a place where he thought everbody could benefit from it, instead he’s stuck “putting Kristen on his back” even though they really couldn’t give a shit about being president.
Well yeah… Kristen went through quite a lot in the original series and probably has a lot of issues coping with it. So they lash out in moments like the ones you’ve made. It’s not exactly rewarded, in fact Kristen is being shown that this behaviour is somewhat toxic because from what I understand they just lost their girlfriend because of their own cavalierness. Ally’s entire intention with Kristen is trying to improve yourself, which is much more difficult. Especially when because of the authoritarian life Kristen was forced into before the events of this series makes having folks try and help and tell you how to better yourself even harder for them. I understand what you mean and yeah commonly I hate characters that are just flat out unapologetically awful but it’s not without reason.
