Love that someone with your range of knowledge and experience with fragrances isn't afraid to put Tommy in this list. It's a classic that I can't imagine anyone not liking.
So I notice you're more into sweet fragrances and rightfully so if you're from Scotland. I live in Costa Rica so the weather here is a little warmer so I'm into fresh fragrances. My top 10 designer fragrances are: 1. Bvlgari Aqva Amara 2. Prada L'homme (mainly office wear) 3. Versace Dylan blue 4. Guerlain L'homme Ideal Cologne 5. Dunhill Icon (mainly office wear) 6. Acqua Di Gio Profumo (mainly evening wear) 7. John Varvatos Artisan Pure 8. Issey Miyake L'eau D'issey Pour Homme 9. D&G Light blue intense 10. Mont Blanc Individuel Great vid man! 😉
Dior Homme is a masterpiece of contrasts-light/dark, bitter/sweet, masculine/feminine. Probably my number one, most me, fall in love every single time fragrance. So glad to hear someone else share the passion so strongly for it.
I absolutely agree with number 5! I’ll always always always love and keep Tommy as one of my fragrances. It does something magical for my nose every time I smell it and brings back memories!
George I appreciate you sharing your personal gems. You seem often swayed by sentimentality, moved by memories, and it all ultimately just reflects why fragrances are so near and dear to us (it’s emotional stuff). More than just a tool for a job, they’re time stamps we all uniquely identify with. That’s the fun in it. It’s videos like these that justify the love for this beautiful passion. Thanks for sharing.
@@realitycomplexitygoo I am loving it. I have a terrible memory in general, but my olfactory memory is great. Fragances have allowed me to reach out those memories that would have been lost in a haze otherwise. That's why this video and your comment resonated so strongly in me. Have a great day 😊
@@ricardojmestre Hi Ricardo. Touche! I also suffer from memory issues. Isn't that wonderful that fragrance and memory are so powerfully linked? That one can haunt the other. I'm grateful for that.
It would wreck my head to do these challenges, you're a better man than me 😂 I remember the last time that I counted how many I own and I was shocked . That collection sure does build up.
Would love to see an update to this list. I know it’s “basic” compared to what you normally do but I love seeing it as a snap shot of where people are at in their fragrance journey
Completely drawn to your passion of fragrances and it caused me to go revisit my whole collection and smell and really think about them and the memories I've had with them. Thank you, subscribed
George!!! First off you’re the greatest to ever do this FragComm game. Second, idk if you’ll see this on such a non-recent video but I was never a fan of Allure Homme Sport on my first try, but I just sprayed a sample on and I really like it now. There’s this super airy, oxygenated, “hot sunny air” quality in the heart that is cool but that I can’t decide if I dig or not. The mandarin is really splendid now that I’m trying it again. Personally there’s other designer freshies that I think I like better, but it’s so awesome smelling along as you talk about it. Ur the mf GOAT!!!
Fragrances choose YOU… I love that . I can see your passion too . I’m like that too . Some frags make me emotional . Armani pour homme because it’s is just beautiful, and elegant and simple . And you just go .. YES , this is mine . Haven’t tried Dior yet … dunno . Lipstick 💄.. really ? There’s a bunch of surprises in there too - Tommy man, Rochas man, great . Love that too . Nice one . Peace ☮️. 🏴
I love your taste and your approach to fragrances (the emotional aspect, some fragrances chosing you rather than the opposite, etc).. Keep up the good work!
This video the passion the love the feelings would explain to anyone who doesn't get this world why we all get so addicted, why wherever you are on the journey we are always still at the beginning. Great list too I love the older random choices its an honest list and why if we all did a top 10 there would be one or two the same but ultimately would all be unique
I tried AHS the other day for the first time in the heat of (British) summer. My oh my what a heavenly scent! I’ve had a sample of Eau Extreme for a while now which I’ve always liked but not enough to buy. But I honestly think I prefer AHS. Eau Extreme is the sweetened up version that’s trying to be even more versatile but honestly AHS is versatile enough and it just makes me happy smelling it, like a ray of sunshine! Fresh, citrusy, creamy, masculine.
I just yesterday blind bid and got a bottle of pure malt on eBay for 63 usd, I couldn’t believe no one else bid on it but I’ll take it .. I hope the hype is real on this one
Prada Amber Pour Homme is so slept on! I just got a sample and ran across this video! It's sort of the "other" Prada Lhomme. Prada Lhomme smells like a sweet soap, Prada Amber smells like hotel soap, clean, clean, clean.
Very impressed with your 10 George. Four of them would be on my own list. For the curious, there's a clone of TF Noir edp minus the civet, clary sage and caraway called Monsieur Le Prince on Fire by Marina de Bourbon. Bottle has a cool fade, but the scent is slightly heavier on the leather. Very inexpensive alternative. Love the idea that fragrances choose us btw. Very possible that we connect with the emotional energy we harbour for them in the future-present - as if part of us already knows how much they're going to mean to us. Never know. Cheers for a great video!
I love you even more for Tommy making the list. I wish I had boxes of the vintage formula. The newer version isn’t as good and doesn’t conjure the same memories as before. It was a big part of my life for 4 years as it’s all I wore.
What is the name of the Outro Song? Also, I just picked up Pure Malt when I saw your review on it and I'm glad I bought it. Such a great fragrance. One of the few 10/10s in my lineup
Love your passion for this , yes, exquisite art form. This sensory thing we enjoy just takes hold of some of us and will *not* let go!. Yep, I share the love and have done for four decades & counting.
Tom ford Noir, man where do i start? That bottle itself tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about the curious liquid within - it is mysterious, chic, romantic, mature (not old!) something from long ago and yet modern all the same, dark, sexy magic juice! Not your average, run-of-the-mill smells-like-every-damn-thing at sephora type fragrance! Many people swear by it's more....ahem, "younger' brother Noir extreme, but that just makes me happier since i know there will be more original Noir left for me, oh and for George too, of course! :)
George, great intro! A good point you make! Got back in the frag game in a big way these last few years and when look at my collection at least once a week I’m asking myself is it worth it? Hell yes!!
Great to see you put a “starter fragrance” in there by including Tommy. Had it in my late teens and was surprised and it’s quality bearing in mind how inexpensive it was
Dior homme is literally one of the classiest things you will ever smell and is definitely my favorite from the line and I have them all 🤣🤣😒 its just more wearable/versatile then the others and a more complete composition than the rest of the line.
Love it men 👍🏼 fantastic choices ... it’s like you read my mind when you spoke about pure malt being that is so dear to my heart is the scent that brings joy to me in winter months 🙂..
George, genuinely can't stop watching your videos. I'm so chuffed with your success on here - it was inevitable really! I'd love to get back in touch. Lots of love from an old mate x
Great list George but a fragrance that would make my all time ten list which probably wouldn't have in the past would be Chanel Edition blanche...totally agree with you about the Tommy Hilfiger 👍
Great list all great fragrances....the way you spoke about Ultra Zest got me thinking about a fragrance I love that I can't get the original formulation anymore...one that I've always really loved was Dirty English...seems to be a love it or hate it type of fragrance.....I happen to love it...It was gifted originally to me and got many compliments.....I'm down to my last 1/4 bottle and using it sparingly....lol
André I. Erm. If you’re thinking about ending your life because of a Fragrance selection on a RU-vid video, perhaps you should seek immediate psychiatric help. Also, no offence those picks are lovely but it’s not 1995 any more and I’m 26 not 45. And boy my imagination must be really vivid because I can remember the Guerlain rep at my House of Fraser admitting they were new reforms. Also I have a vintage LIDGE and new LIDGE, they are different. Guerlain is great but they have been reformed and no amount of denial will change it. These are my picks and that’s the bottom line, sorry you don’t agree.
@@wo2508 Hey Bro, I do love me some older Scents, no doubt. I love the classics also but they just are not relevant to me at this time. You might enjoy my Niche list more as I can really appreciate the avante guard and mature appeal more in that list. LIDGE was my Fav. I was quite heart broken when the difference happened. I can tell the difference, less darker, less cacoa but I can live with the new Juice maybe not that new bottles though as the old bottle was beautiful and classic. Although we may disagree, damn you are one passionate son of a gun! I LOVE IT. For that, you have my full respect friend and hell maybe I should revisit those classics? Thanks for watching! George
Thank you for this extraordinary top ten mate. Mine right now are , herod by pdm Our wood by Tom Ford Tobacco vanille by TM Millesime imperial by creed Royal oud by Creed Jubilation 25 BY Amouage And the one and only la nuit d'lhomme . Even with the new refirmulation, its my sotn. Cheers from Iraq & much love and respect.
this tag would help to an average joe to have atlist 10 fragrances within designers realm since its affordable 🤷🏻♂️ thanks for sharing your thoughts 👍🏼
i have all but 2 from your list, the one that i wont ever buy is Dior Homme ,the cheap lipstick smell makes me get a headache.i agree with the rest thou
Re Dior Homme, I assume you're referring to the 2011 or older version, a everything else since seems to be a totally different frag? I'd rather not be hunting around for stuff on eBay, but if you do mean the older iteration then at least I can ignore the new variants. Cheers & a happy new year!
Great list! You can probably guess from my username what garners me the most compliments. However, the fragrance that suits me much better is the gorgeous Dior Homme Eau!
One question my friend: What is your most complimented green fragrance by women ? Looking for something that's not dark, but lasts Thanks again for a fantastic video 👍
Maybe Encre Noir Sport , but try it out before buy but for the price , quality is of the roof . Smell is somewhat dirty I would say like hard base for someone who likes freshness of aquatic scent but not the one that transport you to the sea but rather to the woods, a magic one with grapefruit tree by the green cold lake . Don't let it Noir in the name fool you , vetiver in composition is more on the bright side , also more biter feeling than sweet or citrus so unique factor also there . It is not offensive , projects like crazy first 2 hours , for the rest of the time moderate projection , skin scent after 7 hours , very good dry down also .
Felt like you conveyed, that logically you can find no fault in allure homme sport, but as far as personal emotional attatchment dior homme takes the cake. Perhaps second no none in your heart.
Enjoyed your list, reminded me of Lex at the Prada Amber fingerprints. A bit of Scottish coming out there ha. While I'm on about Scottish, which I am, I also love Pure Malt. Is the Mugler branded pure malt just as good as the origional Thierry Mugler version. I'd be interested to know if the performance is still on par?
I love your opinion about Dior homme, the part that you said that it works with your personality, i feel the same with chanel Platinum egoiste, it s part of me. But Night outs dinners, when i want to feel special and sophisticated i ware Dior homme or chanel egoiste
