So I run a zk1 flow sensitive unloader on my 5.5. Most general pumps and suck are bsp not npt so pay attention to the threads if you change. It may take a couple thread converters and a sealing washer but you could change over to a flow sensitive unloader.

Contraire...there certainly is still recoil on the gun...that bypass does not help that. My 8gpm is on a tank and bypasses into that tank...recoils EVERY time the trigger is pulled. If you want to lose the recoil, you have to go to a flow unloader...then the recoil is reduced. Your pump has a trapped pressure unloader...it traps that pressure on the line and it bypasses the incoming water...when you pull the trigger it releases that trapped pressure and that causes the recoil...the bypassing of the water will have no effect on the recoil.
@@jonboysprowash7845 The bypass does not reduce recoil. The difference you are feeling is because the unloader is working properly on this new pump. The symptoms you talked about on the old pump at the end of its life was due to the unloader not unloading the pump as it should. It had probably never worked properly...not uncommon for Simpson (AAA is a Simpson pump) pumps to ship with bad unloaders as I have had one that the unloader was never right. The "blowup" that it experienced was due to this...over pressure...and that was the reason for the exaggerated recoil you were experiencing.
