Hi Caleb.Thanks mate.I received my mag cables today.Fantastic idea. However i did swap out the 3m tape for comand tape. Having metal braces on yr ceiling surely helps with the mags. Cheers mate yr Aussie friend residing in USA

Question... Why not put a track with sliders on the ceiling? Everything I see looks like a messy puppet show.

The way I’d make one of those is with a cheap aluminum pole and a track with a bearing as a wheel have the poles cross at a 90 degree and then the bracket above u would have holes for both poles then mount it cable to it with a bungee and boom one point that follows u I can draw this up if u can’t imagine it lol

I think i've built a better system , that retracts automatically , one for the oculus and one for the htc vive , the vive's cable was taller so i had to invent another solution and i had :) may be i can share the knowledge and you make a video for it .. you got the talent man ;) and thanks for helping people really 😊

for sure man!) always interested in multiple solutions! I can say that mine do auto retract, but only when I get the weight right, if you notice when I use it lately I can bend down and lay on the ground and when I stand up the cable goes tight again)) Still its not always consistent, :D

I play some military sims and sometimes find myself getting on the floor (laying down) but i feel if i use 2 coils the wire is just gonna be in my way....

Hey, question about the rift. Is there finally a way to track your walls to keep you from running into things like on the vive?

The rift has had this since launch. When you load into the rift it asks you to draw a playspace by moving your touch controllers over to the walls, and blue walls show up in the headset if you try to walk out of it. If anything, the Oculus chaperone system is a little more accurate then the Vive's as the Vive's playspace has to be a rectangle.

It's called, "The Guardian System" You custom-set your own boundaries within vision of your sensors. Either with digital walls, that fade within proximity, or lines on the ground that glow in proximity when you're moving too-far. VR is actually *fun*

I actually made my own a while back but it sucks.. you're hands gets stuck in them and you rip them down and that is more annoying than stepping over the cable.

My Oculus cable problem is that the wire extending between the Oculus and the PC has twisted on itself over the past year; I wish there were a way to prevent that from happening.

The problem is I cant extend the cable for my oculus. I tried everything and bought everything and it still doesn't work on my gtx 1080 Ti. It's like my headset is different from everyone else and doesn't want to be extended.

Not good enough for real roomscale action imho. From my experience the cable will be always pulling by one side unless in the center of the room. To me this is worst than cable jump.

I am not happy with this product. The magnets' force is not strong enough to hold the cable for an extend time. I slightly stretch the cable, nearly not as far as shown in the video, and the magnets disconnects. It would have been great if the magnets were stronger as shown in the video.

Hey Darryl, I'm sorry to hear the magnets aren't as strong. I use the same magnets in the shipped products as I do in the video. A lot of the setup requires the cable weight to be distributed just right, Are you using all four maglifts? If you have any problems you can always email me and I'd help you out! I genuinely want people to have good experiences and the ONLY reason I made and provide these, is because people were asking me to do it. *Also it is possible that some magnets are weaker than others, there have been times where I found certain ones were a bit weaker when it came to holding them together. I've gone through thousands of these little magnets through the years and I use them for many purposes. I'd like to help make your experience a good one man!

Shaun, thank you for your response. I was looking for a cable management solution for my rift but did not want to use retractor cables that don't last. I was excited to see your video and what I saw was perfect for my needs. When I received it, set it up right away and notice the magnetic force between the ceiling mount and the coil cable magnet was quite weak but I still set them up anyway. Even though it hold up the cable, it did not last. While playing a VR game, it came down on on me; each of the magnet disconnected. I thought to myself that this would be a great purchase if only the magnets were strong. It is not a bad product but it is not what I expected it to be. Please take a suggestion from me, make the magnets stronger.

MobileDecay, unless you have a specific dissability, most people wont have any problem sticking tyese to their ceilings and it's not like it's manditory. It's a personal preference.
