Thank you SO MUCH for this! Our fiddle leaf was on its deathbed and following your advice on watering it’s doing so much better just a day later! Thank you!
I’ve been wanting to get a Fiddle Leaf Fig for so long but didn’t feel ready. I’ve watched so many other videos on how to properly take care of them and this is the best!!! Thank you ☺️
One of the best videos on Fiddle Leaf. I bought one and cut in in half. First leaves were falling. Then browning. Finally I left them without water for two weeks then watered. They seem better now.
I keep mine's outside in bright indirect sunlight have had it for about 3 month's now I water twice a month with liquid organic fertilizer lightly and so far all is well thank you for a fantastic video and yours is looking fabulous
This is the best video for taking care of Fiddle Leaf Fig, very helpful, thank you. I tried very hard to keep them alive, but every time I bring a new one home, they won't last more than 3 months :-( Already kill 2 of them, will definitely buy a new one and follow your tips. Question, my living room sometime can't get sunlight from my window (when raining day), can i replace the sunlight with the ceiling lights or the table lamps? Thank you very much.
Thank you so much, your video is so helpful. Your plant looks so beautiful. Now I realized all the things I have been doing wrong with mine. My plants leafs are yellow and brown. :(
Thank you for your very informative video. I was afraid to water it so it runs through the bottom of the pot, I put stones at the bottom and I see that the tree does not sit in water. The water does sit at the bottom of my plastic tray, but the stones are preventing it from sitting directly in the water. The pot is much too big for me to remove it and water it like I see you have done. The Fiddle leaf fig is doing well, should I continue with my form of watering? 🌳🍃
Great information; well done! I live in a colder climate zone and hope that if I follow your light and watering instructions I will be able to keep it alive. Wish me luck.
that was super helpful! I have 2 question regrading 2 fiddles that I have. both were put outside and have gotten way too much sun. they are now sun drenched and have tuned yellow from scorching. I am bringing them indoors to rehabilitate them and want to know what is the best way of doing that? do I need to remove the yellowed leaves? Also, how to I shape a fiddle tree. one of my fiddles have just one stock and I would like to encourage it to branch out. Thanks again for your great video!
How do you keep leaves to continue to stay on at the bottom? I prefer to keep the look as the one your using in this video. I do put it outside under shade. Because it's really hot here I do water it often. What am I doing wrong?
Mines lost all its bottom leaves and had a lot of browning I moved it from place closer to a Window and hasn’t droppped anymore leaves hoping it makes it
I have 2 flf- 6ft in height which are very top heavy and leaning very low.. please can you help..! Should I let it stand on its own or provide support?
Great video thank you so much, the fig look amazing heal, how do you recommend to clean the leafs and make them look so shine and bright, I also tend to spry the leafs with regular water just to let her feel like it's raining, when the water dry it leaves scale on the leafs also since the leafs are quite large the tend to catch a lot of dust, what is your tip to clean her, also I would appreciate a link to a recommend mineral to use ♥️🙏🏻
There is definitely no need to spray the leaves. You can clean them by just wiping them off with a moist paper towel. If you want sheen and the plant won’t be in too much light you can use a light oil such as grape seed oil but keep in mind that it becomes reflective as your skin would with baby oil so could burn morewafilu if exposed to too much sunlight. We actually only use drippers info the pot and not overhead sprinklers on our larger plants. The leaves do not benefit from receiving water.

We got one of these plants last fall and a few leaves developed brown spots and fell off. We switched to watering with distilled water instead of our sink water and that seemed to help, and it even sprouted a few new leaves this spring! However, the brown, brittle spots are still occurring on a lot of leaves and those leaves eventually fall off. We are at a loss for what to do. It gets indirect sunlight, and we did place a rock layer in the bottom of the pot when we planted it, so I am not certain if the spots are from root rot or something else. Any advice?
When you say it needs to be next to a window, do you mean in front of it? Or can it be next to the window where it's shaded but it receives some indirect light? I'm always worried it's not getting enough sunlight. I bought two, placed one in the corner of the living room on an end table NEAR a window but not in front of it and placed the other one next to a window, but not in front of it. Is this enough sunlight? Both the windows face the WEST. Any tips would be appreciated! :)
Hello I was hoping maybe you could give me some advice, I did a clipping from the top of my tree about a week and a half ago I have put it in water to try to propagate and it is in a window that receives bright indirect light for a large portion of the morning and then after that just receives natural light. Two leave started to get brown so I removed them and the branch is getting really wilted flimsy. Do you have any suggestions so I don’t lose this propagation and have made my tree look ugly lol
Hi, this is super helpful video. Thank you so much. Even tho I enjoyed watching and learning from your video, I still got a question.Today I got a soil and repot the tree to the bigger pot. After everything was done, I realize the soil was 'for in-ground use'... which I have a No IDEA what are the differences between in ground and ones it isn't... Since then, it is scraing me if this might kill the tree. The soil seems much heavier which means able to contains more water?! I have no clue anyway... In your opinion... do you think I should have this repot with something differnt than what I used with? Or the soil really doesn't matter? Hopefully I can hear back from you soon!
I think that an easier solution for you would be to keep a wooden dowel inside of the pot which you can take out once a week and see if the soil is still wet. My plant looks nothing like this one. It is spindly, one stalk and has little leaves about 3 inches across. It's right by an east window. I'm wondering if it actually is the same plant or there is some other problem like light. It's at least 10 years old and I water it once every 2-3 weeks.
all the advice in this video is great except for the part where you said to put a layer of gravel in the bottom of the pot - that’s actually really bad for plants and increases the likelihood of root rot as it raises the water level and keeps the roots moist :(
Every video I listen to and every article I read tells me conflicting information on the care of these beautiful plants. I have read articles and heard on videos that yellowing leaves means it's getting too much water, which seems like other plants as well. And that brown edges on the leaves means it's gotten too dry. And that makes sense, but you are telling us the opposite now. I don't know who to believe.
butlerson lol I totally get where you are coming from. Remember, the key is to understanding that overwatering and too frequent watering are different things. You are welcome to message me personally if you have any more questions. Instagram would be the best way. :)
Dakota Fleming you’re right, just like a bonsai. I guess I just like things to grow big! My local garden center had dwarf leaf fiddle leaf figs! Their the perfect size.
The problem with giving an answer like 4 cups of water is that this would depend on the size of the plant. Four cups of water would work for a smaller fiddle. 4 cups would fully wet the roots of a 3 gallon plant. It would take 5-7 days in between watering for it to fully dry out. So yes that can also be a correct answer. Same concept
@@casandralark9281 my plant is in the same size pot as in this video, and same size plant so she put in a hose and drenched it. I think I'll do 4 cups every 7 days
All that overflow while watering is Flushing alot of your nutrients out of your soil! You do want to flush out the salts but too much water isn't good!
